  1. We have an antenna in the attic to begin with and receive great reception for the over the air games on ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX. In fact I prefer the over the air picture to anything I can see on cable regardless of how it is broadcast (satellite, streaming, or cable) it's simply a better picture hands down. Now for the rest we have high speed internet without cable service. This saves us about $30 per month. I still am able to stream just about anything I want to see including BTN2Go, FOXsportsGO, and WatchESPN via a ROKU box. I'm quite happy with the arrangement.
  2. I was going to post on this same topic. It's as if Dinardo has never been in Nebraska's facilities and physically walked from the locker rooms to the weight room or indoor practice facility. If you didn't look out the window going over the bridge back to Memorial stadium it isn't any different than everything being in one building because it essentially is. I think he's confused and thinks he's still coaching at Colorado and it's still 1989.
  3. this x100000000 Put every single dollar into recruiting. It is the lifeblood of the entire program. Hire support staff "analysts" out the wazzoo. Send the football team to Rome with Harbaugh. Do whatever the hell you have to do to get the most talented kids in the country to choose Nebraska. The idea of a dual camp with michigan is interesting. I know NFL teams sometimes have joint preseason camps. I wonder if there's an NCAA rule against this kind of thing. I like this idea. However they need to decide on an identity on offense and defense first. It's what Pelini never seemed to be able to do particularly on offense.
  4. They ran a budget surplus of about 4 million last year. So it can't simply be split among all the teams unless we start giving out 25% salary increase to all the coaches. Exactly, but my comment was saying that it will go towards numerous expenses across the Athletic Department, and not for one or two specific items for the football team or whatever. I think we'll get to see the new budget in the Spring and we'll get an idea what they are projecting.
  5. Why would athletic department funds be given back to the University? The Athletic Department has it's own budget that is self-sufficient and doesn't get funds from the University. You are right however the athletic department has historically given back a certain percentage to the university. This is likely due in part to the people who complain about how much the football team makes/spends and wonders why the university doesn't spend more for teacher, academics, etc. These people don't realize the athletic department is a self-supporting unit and actually give back to the university.
  6. They run a budget surplus every year and are always in the black. It will be interesting to see. NU should move into the top 4 or 5 in terms of size of athletic budget in the BIG. And into the top 15 in the nation. No reason to skimp on anything.

  8. Starting this year Nebraska will start receiving a full share of BIG media rights payments. If I understand things correctly this will increase revenue by 20 to 25 million annually. What will this money be used to do? They essentially will have an increase in their revenue by 20 to 25 percent. Facilities? Coaches salaries? Riley's buyout next year? Tim Mile's buyout next year?
  9. So Osborne named a drunken philanderer as his replacement and also hired a drunk as a linebackers coach who Solich in turn hired as his defensive coordinator when McBride left. Is that what I am to believe? How is it that Tom was unaware of these personal failings for so many years or didn't think it mattered? Don't these coaches work 80+ hours a week much of the time around each other?
  10. He resigned but not without pressure to do so.
  11. Howard Schnellenberger was finished with OU after one year
  12. I heard it at the time in 2003/4 and after each coaching change since. I then heard it again today. However no one can ever tell me their source. I think it's bunk but thought I would put it out there to see what everyone else has heard over the years.
  13. I am tired of hearing rumors about Frank Solich and coed affairs. Where did this rumor come from anyway? If he really did have affairs with UNL students why was his contract paid out after he was fired?
  14. Take a look at the timeline and you will see this all started with the hiring of HP in 2000/2001. We must patiently wait for this cancer to go away in July of 2016.
  15. Hey I loved Big 8 Nebraska. But Big 7 Nebraska ('48-'58)... ugh. Amen to that, but we did end OU string of conference wins.

    Piling on!

I heard this on the radio on the way home and was tempted to call in and correct what was said. He mentioned that NU wanted to leave the Big Six back in the 40's. And that he use to go to the games with his Dad and his dad thought NU should leave if they wanted to and go the the Big Ten and get their foot smashed. OSU didn't join the Big Six until the late 50's when it was the Big seven. I wonder if OSU was being disloyal by joining the Big Seven? The only Oklahoma school in the conference in the 40s was OU. I guess I am to assume that the Pickens family followed both OU and OSU during the 40s or maybe the old man is just making up the story to begin with.......
  17. Looking at the Big Twelve site the Alamo has the next pick after the Gator not the Sun so I would think that if ND goes to the Gator the Alamo would take NU over say a Missouri or Okie State
  18. The drive is about 3 hours but with extra traffice I would figure about another 45 minutes. If you want to tailgate for 2 hour, have time to park, and get to the see the band and pre-game in the stadium I would plan to leave about 7 hours before the game. There are things to see in the infield of the track (Ed Weir Track) over by the stadium. Also the band should be marching on campus before the game. As far as inside places to hang out with a 7 year old it may be a little tough. I would suggest wearing a coat and tailgaiting yourself versus going to any downtown establishment.
  19. What's the history behind the Jersey patch. If I remember right it's been on the Jersey about 20 years.
