If so don't you think there is something wrong with that. odds and or perspective. people expect football success from the basketball program. dont believe me? never won a ncaa tourney game. won a nit title...oh joy. but because the football team last won a conference title in 1997...well, the basketball team is expected to do what exactly? look at the numbers from the last 10 years of football vs basketball, and 'finishing' positions relative to the number of teams involved in their division 1 sport. percentage wise, nebraska basketball was more successful and/or equal to the football team several years over that time period, yet they are labeled the black eye.

wondering if some of these hurdles couldnt be cleared by the main 'sponsor' making and selling the shirts? or even what if they have to be generic in a sense...i mean, i probably own more 'custom' tshirts from omaha area husker shops that have random, but easily recognizable husker motifs, on them than anything else. the only people buying these shirts are gonna be us idiots on here. we could make a red shirt with a big bag a douche on it and it will still be as recognizable to people (read- us) as something with the actual name on it. theres an idea right there. i try to avoid the soccer ones...im horrible at them. in fact, im not sure ive ever won one. i only pick them if i lose late at night, because they are the first ones on the morning board, to try and jumpstart a new streak. ***** Ill add the app for the phone is handy, because you can only be locked into one pick at a time...meaning if you pick a basketball game that starts at 3pm...you cannot pick another matchup until the game is over. This is where they really get you, because some guys go for the one 'lock' a day, while others go the play as many as they can a day route. its very addictive.

those in here that are not already playing espn's streak for the cash...you should be. best 'betting' fun you can have without losing your pants. 10-20 matchups a day, you pick what you want. pick 27 correct in a row and win 150,000 (50,000 a month, pot rolls over if 27 is not met)...PLUS... have the longest winning streak for the month and win 50,000. last months had 21. seriously. its a blast...although ive never had a streak over 10. i created a group for us if you want to play along for braggin rights. huskerboard.com password: bigten group linky thing

ncaa basketball is a different breed...the 90's didnt show anything more than a decent run, in a sh#t basketball conference, which was a GREAT run for nebraska basketball in general. several tourney appearances with no wins... a NIT championship...thats showing nebraska basketball can be/should be great? come on folks. you fire Doc, bring someone else in, and what changes. nothing, other than we give another guy 3-4 years to maybe make the dance. are you all the same ones that ran nee out of town after his success that you now fall back on?

whats funny, is even in your plan saunders, how do you determine those top 2 non AQ and/or independent teams? certainly not by any human element, no bias, like you say...perhaps aliens can pick who they are. and 3 non defeated teams that didnt win a title...youre really not going with that being okay, are you? considering your plan?

i agree walksalone, that hockey should not be blamed as it were...but the initiation of the hockey program is what led to the current mess of the inflation of the entire athletic budget, and has been admitted by UNO staff itself. UNO hockey was operating in the green (and the overall percentage/ratio of the athletic budget it kicked back was nothing like Nebraska football supporting other sports) until the move to the qwest center... it seems to a lot of folks this is a case of the fat man buying bigger pants than simply trying to lose weight to fit into the old ones, which is the picture that is attempted to be painted with the cut of the football and wrestling programs to facilitate the move to complete div 1 sports in the summit league.

Mike Kemp and I at a monday luncheon on the UNO campus to benefit the Omaha Literacy Center. He was the consummate professional, smartly countering offhand inquiries into the obvious questions from some pretty heavy Omaha hitters throughout the day with humor and grace-but nothing solid or juicy I can comfortably translate here. Jacques Demers, a Stanley Cup winning coach and current Canadian Senator was the keynote speaker- he accomplished all of this without the ability to read or write. Quite a remarkable man. Most impressive was Mike Kemps cell phone wrangling- the man is an expert at taking/ignoring calls while continuing a conversation.
