  1. Update: I have acquired two tickets to the Pittsburgh game that I am willing to trade for 2 to the Texas Tech game.
  2. I have been trying to get my old college buddies to come out for a Husker game for years now and I finally got them, now all I need to do is find some tickets....haha. We have some teachers in the group so it works out best for the Columbus Day weekend, of course, that's Homecoming and Texass Tech, which is why I am asking for help from you fine people in finding some tickets. I have a group of about 10 right now, if you guys have any info on tracking some down I would be forever grateful.
  3. I would love to hear about some of the games you all have attended on the road. I think we all know how great game day is in Lincoln but I am curious about experiences in "enemy" territory. I'll share a few of mine: 1994 Orange Bowl - FSU 18, NU 16 Drove 24 hours from Chicago to the game, anticipating a lot of fun but not too confident the Huskers could hang as "17 1/2 point underdogs". The Orange Bowl is in a word Amazing. If you ever get the chance you have to go to a game there. The drive down was interesting in that Penn State fans were on their way to the Gator Bowl and had their cars decked out, amazing how many made that trip. Didn't expect too much in the way of hospitality being a near home game for the Noles but suprisingly their fans were awesome. We played a pick up game with some fans in the parking lot and had my first experience with "Slaw" dogs, good eats. The fans inside were a different story, rowdy and rude, the Huskers shut them up pretty quick. Favorite moment was a hot FSU broad turning to her boyfriend after Trev sacked Ward asking who the heck that guy was. Her boyfriend said oh that's just a 3rd down pass rush guy, lol. Moron. Being at the game we didn't know about the "fumble" or the "clip" until we got home, wow was that a kick in the gut. From our seats we also couldn't see if the final kick was good, just that it had the distance. Worst part of the trip: Nel Carter half time show, talk about a buzz kill. 2002 at Penn State - PSU 40, NU 7 Drove 16 (?) hours from Chicago to Happy Valley. Riding high, thinking the Huskers are just reloaded for the new season. First look in person at the new unis, actually kinda liked em, hate them with a passion in retrospect. The stadium was the best I have ever seen in a college setting. Looked like a NFL stadium. Happy Valley to my surprise did have straight sidelines, contrary to what the refs in 1982 thought, but I digress. A complete and utter disaster in the stands on the field. PSU fans were loud and louder the whole game. Nearly got in a brawl after being shoved by a PSU fan for cheering. Several brawls all around us during the game. Jammal looked lost, the D was pathetic. I watched an NU LB turn to the sidelines with his hands in a "what the hell do I do now" motion right before PSU ran one right by him for a TD. Stayed for the whole thing, regardless of the taunting. Got to our car and had to wait 2 hours to even leave the parking lot. 3 of us pounded a case of Guiness and proceeded to the Gentlemen's club. Got in an accident on the way home......Worst trip ever. 1995(?) at Oklahoma - NU 73, OU 21 Oh man was this sweet. Drove through the night from Chicago to Norman. Arrived at about 5 am, slept in the car until the tailgating started. Partied with some pretty humbled OU fans. Met Brian Bozworth on the streets, who apparently is still a god there. OU gets the ball first, their OL seemed to be spread about 2 yards apart from each other (what was Blake thinking?). First play Peter comes crashing through for a sack and the party was on. I remember staring at the scoreboard in disbelief in the second half. Watched OU fans get kicked out of their own stadium for most of the 4th quarter. Stadium was nothing to write home about, we had good end zone seats, but the zones and one sideline go up way too high to be good seats.
  4. OK, who the hell stole my name? Will the real TouchdownTommie please stand up? 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? Since the 1978 Bluebonnet Bowl, probably earlier, but this is the first game I can remember. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? This is Nebraska, its your birthright. 3) Where are you from originally? Omaha 4) Where do you live now? Lived in Chicago for 9 years, back to Lincoln now. 5) Favorite Husker memory? Tie. 1993 Orange Bowl vs. FSU - what a game to attend. Last loss for a long long time for the Big Red. Never more proud of them. 1996 (?) at Oklahoma, end zone seats, first play of the game Huskers sack em and never look back. That was a sweet sweet win....73-21. 6) Worst Husker memory? At Penn State 2001 - almost got in a brawl in the first quarter, pounded a case of Guiness afterwards to drown our sorrows, ended up at a real bad gentlemen's club, got in an accident on the way back home. 7) Number of home games attended? 15-20 8) Number of away games attended? 10+/- 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? My autgraphed Mike Rozier helmet 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) Student section baby, and I didn't even go to school there. 11) Favorite all time player? I.M. Hipp 12) WCO or Option? Option 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Byrne 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Herbie 15) Favorite Husker play? 1982 Basketball bounce pass. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Schlitz and beans. 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) Search engine
  5. The "slow" and "untalented" parts I get. Whats with the "white" reference? Are you saying white players can't be good receivers? (Steve Largent?) Or are you saying white players can't have an ego? Either way this doesn't belong around here. And Birkel was extremely fast. If only 8 or 9 guys are faster than him (as you say) on a team of 100, I'd say that's fast.
  6. Terry Rodgers (Johnny's kid) started as a Frosh before he blew out his knee against UCLA. That was the first kid I remember getting hyped as a freshman.
  7. Um, did you watch Crouch at NU? Dude never pitched. How do you think he won the Heisman?
  8. yeah, take a look at who Palko amassed his numbers against: 380 yds, 3 TD vs. Furman 267 yds vs. UConn 318 yds vs. Rutgers 342 yds vs. Syracuse 334 vs. ND (sounds good but, ND gave up over 350 4 times) 411 vs. S. Florida 251 vs. Utah (of 268 total Pitt yards) 191 yds vs. Temple 49 yds. vs. Ohio (pre-Frank) 228 yds vs. NU but 3 picks 131 yds. against Boston College 165 vs. W.Virginia amassed over half his yards against S. Florida, Furman, Rutgers, Syracuse, and ND. I'm not sold on this kid yet.
  9. Heard it on the radio, saw it on Rivals. This is gonna be a big day! Mr. Suh, your time has come! Go Big Red! 10 players listed in the top 15 at their position.
  10. Look, I could have certainly lived with 5-6 (will have to anyway) if I felt Callahan was just dealt a bad hand in talent and work ethic. But I went to two games this year and I have to say the score meant nothing to me. I went to the Baylor game and for the first time in my life heard Husker fans Booing NU and we were winning by 30! I went to the ISU game and sat in the parents section. Next to Titus Adams' mom and behind Terrence Nunn's parents. If you don't think there is something wrong in the program, go listen to the parents. Isiah Fluellen's dad was pissed off and the game hadn't even started yet. Dude wouldn't sit down the entire game, just stood up with his arms folded across his chest shaking his head. That's the whole point right there, the great NU fans can live with losses, hell we lived with Osborne's repeated failures (if you want to call it that) for 21 years. What we will not stand for is lack of effort or lack of discipline. Nebraskans work their asses off all damn week and we expect, nay we DEMAND, hard work and discipline on Saturday. I watched in horror as NU trailed ISU by two scores late in the 3rd quarter and still couldn't get a snap off with more than 10 seconds on the play clock. I watched Joe Dailey officially rush for 10 yards, but unofficially rushed for 800, running over to the sidelines after every play. I watched NU call a time out down 1 score late in the game because they had 4 DT on the field at the same time, IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING AN ISU TIMEOUT! I hope will all my energy that this is just an adjustment period. But for the life of me I cannot understand how you can go an entire season without devising a simple method to relay plays from the bench to the QB. I sure as hell hope Harrison Beck is doing some wind sprints right now preparing for all the running he'll do at NU.
  11. Again....... I wonder how we would all view Frank Solich if Corell Buckhalter had not fumbled going into the end zone at Texas in '99. NU goes on to pound Major Applewhite in the B12 Championship and then Tennessee in the Fiesta Bowl and finish #2 while FSU couldn't stop Va Tech's running game in the Sugar Bowl. Anyone here doubt NU would have beaten FSU? Would we all say Frank stinks if the best team in the country had won the NC in '99? My guess is most of wouldn't know what ever happened to Bill Callahan after the Super Bowl.
  12. People who say the option is dead and won't work any more NEVER understood NU football even on its most basic level. You think NU won National Championships because they had more speed then everyone else on the option? If Dr. Tom said it once, he said it 100 times, we are gonna knock them down and then knock them down again. Over the course of a game it takes its toll. I am no Solich sympathizer, his recruiting efforts were abysmal. But I wonder where we would all stand if Corell Buckhalter had not fumbled going into the end zone at Texas in 1999 and Solich wins the National Championship with what was clearly the best team in the country that year. Remember that NU "option" pounding Tennessee in the Fiesta Bowl, while we all watching in disgust as FSU couldn't stop VaTech from running the ball? The option, just like the wishbone, just like the 46 defense, just like the Veer T all still work with the right combination of coaches and players.
  13. Oh how far we have fallen when the High School All-American Game is one of the biggest days in recent Husker History. I'll be at the UT-NU basketball game, but I'm betting the buzz in the crowd will be over Suh or Myers-White or Boateng's announcement rather than the whoopin the hoopsters are taking from the Horns.
  14. The only "gimme" I see is the Red-White game. We got no secondary, no QB, no receivers. Don't tell me how good the recruits are, I've heard it all before. I also heard a certain 4* defensive lineman tell us how he was going to break the NU sack record for a season. I don't think he broke it with all his years combined.
  15. It would amaze me if Boateng went to Florida and would frankly not make any sense. Nyan has two friends coming here for basketball and another coming for football. I've been amazed before but I say Nyan is N.
  16. The word I hear is that Auburn is giving up on him because he has a 1% chance of making grades. the exact quote I heard was "Powe will be playing on Thursday nights".
  17. I think if you look at Kansas' scores from last year you'll think otherwise: Texas Tech 31, KU 30 NU 14, KU 8 ISU 13, KU 7 Texas 27, KU 23 KU probably should have won 2 of these games. Up 20+ on TTU at half. Had several chances to beat NU. They beat CU, KSU and Missouri. Even win two of these games and they win the north. ISU may not make a whole lot of noise but they were an overtime loss to Missouri away from winning the division and I believe ISU returns more starters than anyone in the North. You are right, Baylor sucks. I sure as heck hope we win the North, but the way I see it (ever the pessimist) the only sure wins next year are Maine, Wake Forest and Baylor.
  18. Blackshirt, what do you know about this Kevin Myers kid that supposedly Ola wants to play with? Myers verballed to LSU but now appears to be waivering. Some think he's USC-bound now but Rivals thinks NU has a legit shot.
  19. Horne is more interested in smoking pot than playing football. Sounds like another RB I know.
  20. http://ucla.scout.com/2/330542.html?refid=1 Another article on Ola. Looks like just a couple weeks ago he was all gung ho on UCLA. Either some nice work by John Blake or UCLA didn't offer.-
  21. That is the best article on NU recruiting I have read to date. Very thorough. Thanks!
  22. That's good news, I hate to see this kid risk injury twice though. Hopefully everything goes well and he looks like a stud in both games, which makes other players commit to us.....haha.
  23. Why is Picou playing in both games? Is he still a "soft" verbal?
  24. I play on Xbox so I can save as many dynasties as I want. Some I play all the games (NU of course) others I just do the recruiting and try to build a team from 1* to the NC. I took over Arkansas State (#115) and got them admitted to the SEC and then won a NC.....all in 3 days of playing.....lol, I am Junky defined! Here's my Junky key to building a NC out of a 1*. Play 4 minute quarters and run the ball alot while running down the play clock. This keeps your games close and most importantly will rank you in the top 20 in Defense. Even if you went 0-11 you'll get good Defensive recruits interested in you because of your scheme. Then once you have a good D you can play more offense which will interest the good offensive recruits. Within 3-4 seasons, you too can make Idaho a National Powerhouse LMAO!
