  1. As a huge Cubbies fan, i was happy to hear the news..... this kid can throw well... The way that I have it figured, he will begin in AA, and then make it to Iowa.....just before the Cubs call him up, they will trade him to the Pirates for some washed up center fielder..... He will then go on to be traded to the Braves and become an All-Star...... Cubs Curse.
  2. Great question.... 1. Go to the Sidetracks tavern the Friday night before the game !! 2. After closing down Sidetrack, hit a Taco Bell for a late nighter !!! 3. Saturday morning, start with a red-beer or a shot of hot-damn at Barry's !!!! 4. Move from Barry's to the Embassy Suites outdoor tail-gate for live music (no cover)!!! 5. Leave Embassy Suites and walk to Stadium (2 blocks), to follow band in 1 hr. before kick !!! 6. Get to seats about 40 min. to kick to take it all in....team leaving field, drumline, pre-game, tunnel walk. Get ready to rock and roll !!!!
  3. I hope the fact that the west has a 21-3 lead doesn't 'hand-cuff' Taylor. Reeves better give him a chance to show his stuff.
  4. Hey KC.....how the hell do you remember the walls of the sidetracks??? Among the many, many, many night spent with you there..... 1st, you were too "happy" to remember much and 2nd, you usually got "led to the door" early in the evening for harassing opponents.....F&CK!*G Buffalo fans Good times buddy!
  5. Crabtree from rivals says NU is a definate long shot....Florida or LSU is where he thinks Peters ends up.... Keep dreamin' and fingers crossed, but don't hold your breath.
  6. Welcome to the board.... I am one who disagreed with your first post referring to starters and subs and recruits concerning playing time....... the cool thing is, we all want the same thing....Nebraska back on top like what many of us alumns and long time fans are used too..... AND as fans, board members, we all have DIFFERENT ideas, philosophies, and beliefs on how we can accomplish this....the fact is, no of us can control it, so all we can do is express our opinions on boards like this with many, many Husker fanatics..... We are all entitled to our philosophy, and as long as people don't personally attack anyone, no offense should ever be taken..... Welcome....and feel free to agree/disagree with anything you like.
  7. Thank you for the insight AR Husker.... it is nice to hear what actually is going on....my bets are with DJR and Mustain ends up at Tulsa.
  8. He probably would like to be D-coordinator....but if he is out of work, anything would be nice.... Then agian, Coach Sanders won't be out of work very long !!!!
  9. Just heard this on the radio !!!! maybe BC goes and gets him...
  10. Just listening to 1620 the zone, and an interview with Coach Marvin Sanders...... who by the way, may be one of my all-time favorite assistant coaches at NU....and yes, I have been around a while.... He was a fantastic DB coach, and kids loved him and played very well....led nation in take-aways... He was officially released today by NC.....new coach and all, not uncommon... During the interview, he specifically said that he is loyal to his alma mattar "NU", and could absolutely see scenarios in which he would end up back here......ending much debated topic on this board in the past.... He said that he loves Nebraksa, but unless BC picks up the phone and calls, he can't do much about it.... I say we start a petition to oust Elmo, and pool our money to help bring back one of the best Assis. of all time.....He also is a great recruiter.
  11. Good question !!! One would think that Green would have the nod on defense.....he has been through a lot with position changes.... Another could be McKeon....verbally, he has tried to be the leader... Offensively.... Byford makes sense.....and I know he drops a lot of passes, but Nunn my be a possiblity.
  12. I too agree that Ruud has a lot too be desired....and I too would take a former/current player's opinion with some stock.....while I was at NU, my roommate was the starting left OT opposite Will Shields, and he too had very valuable opinions.... My point was that we can't determine "how talented" the reserves or recruits are until we see them.... Thenarse is a primary example....many of us, including me, wondered why he didn't see the field much, especially with our CB problems..... then, it was publicly written that he continually got torched in practice by lesser WR....late in the season.. By the way Landon...... I don't know crap either , but it is fun to act like it once in a while
  13. Now I am speaking as a coach, so forgive me if I get a little critical.......We as fans have NO IDEA who is better or not.... We are basing all of our info. on publicity, opinion, or some recruiting guru..... until we as fans go to every practice, every meeting, WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE CRITICAL of who the coaches put on the field.... Even at the high school level, I get sick of fans who "wonder" why this kid isn't playing or this kid.... and if I don't play him, I don't have the guts to "bench" a starter..... Wow, it may be because I see these kids daily, for hours upon hours, and I may have an idea who I "trust" on the field.... Sorry.... I hope I didn't offend anyone, because I know the purpose of this board is to have the freedom to express opinions, and everyone is entitled, and YES, I TOO , become critical at times....but rarely of personnel decisions....
  14. Okay guys.... I was the first to be critical of the fact that Ruud was awarded Big 12 post season honors, but fact is, league coaches must see things that us as FANS don't....I know that doesn't seem possible , but anyone who thinks that Ruud doesn't have a "leg up" on the rest of the LB's is kidding themselves.. Now, I love ALL of these guys, and it will be a great "problem" to have, BUT 1. Dillard has shown "ZERO"...over-matched as a freshman, and showed a little in what small amount he got to play.....again, vs a much lesser opponent, not even close to Big 12 talent or USC 2. Octavian has potential to be an absolute stud.... but remember "The nation's number one wasted resource is potential"...... When and can this guys stay healthy.... I have my doubts 3. Brandenberg can be a stud !!!!! 4. McKeon had a better year as a sophomore than this year, and in a few games, totally got his butt kicked 5. Ruud is soft, and a little slow....but has made more big plays than any of these guys combined !!!!!! All I want you to remember is that all of these guys will compete, but don't automatically discount Ruud.
  15. Born Red..... I agree with your assessment of Lucky's running style....he has/had a bad habit of dancing... I believe this comes from not having to go inside in HS..... At that level, his speed was so exceptional, he was able to bounce everything outside...not going to work at this level. I thought that he did much better this year than last, but still needs to improve.. The Cotton Bowl was his best job of running North and South and getting his shoulders turned upfield on the zone stretch plays... I just feel as if he is starting to figure out what it takes.... Remember, who actually thought BJ was going to have the breakout year that he had...hell, he was listed at 4th on the depth chart at one time... Someone will step up and be a great back.
  16. i will miss BJ....he really perservered through a lot of injuries and beign buried on the depth chart.....so good luck to him.. Lucky will be just fine.....he is getting better and better all of the time....Break out year !!! Glenn needs to get this injury figured out...maybe surgery???? Wilson needs to hold onto the ball and RUN Does anyone out there think that Castille can come in and be an impact RB as a true freshman...He has the great size like Glenn and appears to have more break away speed than Glenn..... almost a cross between Lucky and Glenn.
  17. Hell, I just want ONE YEAR of NOT BEING POOR !
  18. jauken...... CRNHSKR That is one of my favorites so far!!!! Good thinkin...
  19. I agree with you Hunter..... I just thought that I would throw the info. out for public opinion... It is very easy for someone in his position to say some of the stuff he says.... Plus, the guy has a deep Dallas Cowboy connection, so obviously he doesn't know sh!t... Go Steelers
  20. I have no "hard evidence" that he is academic, but that is what they are reporting on 1620 the zone.....they are kind of poking fun at him a little.
  21. Anyone getting tired of me strating BJax Threads? 1620 was intrviewing Gil Brandt..... one time director of player personnel in the NFL and usually pretty good with draft analysis just said during an interview that anyone who delcared today has 72 hours to reconsider, and the he HOPED THAT JACKSON WOULD RECONSIDER, BECAUSE HE FEELS THAT BJAX MADE THE WRTONG DECISION... not my opinion....just giving info.. Brandt went on to say that Jackson's reason were not good reasons to enter... $$$$...Brandt said that if you have been poor for 21 years, what is one ore year ? Draft position..... He thinks Bjax is bottom of third at best, and felt that if he came back, the could up his stock, even with a possible deep RB group next year... Does anyone agree with Gil Brandt, and if so, is there a chance that Brandon reconsiders...
  22. Academic casualty.....nothing uncommon with most recruiting classes....but seems to happen to BC's classes more than most.
  23. Now that it is official that he is going to enter the draft, how many of you HONESTLY think that he made a good decision..... Probably made the right decision as far as "draft-stock" is concerned.... but I am concerned that he may end up like Derek Brown, Calvin Jones, Damon Benning (whom I love, and is a GREAT commentator)..... He will either not make a roster...which i think is a possibility, with all of his injuries OR he will come out of the blue and be a surprise back that sees the field a lot...... What is your guys/gals opinion.... I am not asking if he made the right decision, that has been talked about to exhaustion......the question is NOW if he will make it in the NFL.
  24. We have both of our vehicles personalized.... HUSKURS HUSKUR Iowa plates, so it is a lot of fun driving around !!!!
  25. I am not going to post the entire article, but today's paper (Omaha) states that BJ is definately a 2nd day pick, and one analayst (Croyle from draftinsider) says that BJ would have to really impress scouts at the combine to even break into the top 150 !!!! Personally, I think that BJ should come back for another year.... I understand that we already have a thread on all of this, but I thought the "new" report would spark interest.. 1st of all, he can't even stay healthy in college.....this year was the lone exception, and his hand was a freak deal, but an injury all the same.... NFL scouts look at all of this... 2nd of all, with a few ohter underclass RB declaring, BJ is dropping on the board.... he probably just moved below Walker from ND who just declared... 3rd of all, someone on the other thread mentioned that BJ's job wasn't even "safe" at NU, so BJ should enter....Man, if he can't win the job at NU, how the heck is "ready" to compete for a ROSTER spot in the NFL? 4th of all....even if BJ is not the starter or "feature-back" next year, doesn't mean that he will not make a good back in the NFL..... I am a Steeler fan, and I believe that Willie Parker is doin' just fine....non starter in college.. 5th of all....if you are NFL worthy, it doesn't matter how many other RB are in the draft (next yr)...if you have it, you have it.... If he is a day 2 guy (4-6 rd) this year, he might as well take a chance on improving this for next year.. Finally, and the BEST REASON, for BJ to stay, is that I love this guy, and I really want him to be a Husker one more year
