  1. I agree with the guys who are projecting somewhere around 7-4..... We will win the ones we are supposed to, we will beat ISU and KSU and Pitt at home. The recruitment excitement is understandable....HELL, I am stoked !!!! , but if you HONESTLY believe that one class can make a difference, you are kidding yourself, and are setting yourself to be pissed off all next winter too. The ship is beginning to right itself, but in college football these days, it is a process to rebuild.....Let's face it....We no longer reload (at least for now), we REBUILD......Rebuilding takes PATIENCE...... Let's be realistic, if this team can finish with a winning record, it will be a start....by setting too high of goals, you are not giving this staff a chance to be successful. NOW, if we don't go bowling next year, some heads should roll !!!!!!
  2. Are freakin' crazy KC Husker? The Steelers played maybe their worst game of the season against a very "hot" Jets team..... I know that they were "lucky" to have Brien miss at the end, but the Steelers dominated both LOS and controlled every aspect of game except special teams. Husker Bob, I love you man..... I am a life-long Steeler freak !! Steelers 24 Pats 20 Philly 28 Atlanta 24 Steelers 27 Philly 17 But with my history of picking teams, I am sure that the 'Bowl will be PATS vs FALCONS Enjoy the games
  3. Hot off of the press......New WR coach is Ted Gilmore (sp?) He was the WR coach at Colorado for the past two seasons BC assured that Coach Gilmore had nothing to do with the scandals that went on there.. BC was very impressed with the guy.....Has a lot of WCO experience.... "Talks our language" said BC What a day....steal a recruit from MU and a coach from CU
  4. I sure hope this is right !!!! Brooks is exactly what we need.... Mark my words, if he IS a Husker, he will make an immediate impact Wasn't doubting you Touchdown Tommie......Great news.....thank you for the info!!!! This was just great news, so I was hesitant to react !!!! With our WR problems-depth...this is HUGE
  5. I sure hope this is right !!!! Brooks is exactly what we need.... Mark my words, if he IS a Husker, he will make an immediate impact
  6. Great analagy with the band-aid statement I think you have it right on the head.... The WCO can produce great running games, but also has the flexibility to throw the dang ball all over the field I feel BC knows that NU will always be able to run the football, he needed to establish the fact that we need the personnel to also throw.....With the stable of RB, he needed to get QB and WR to make offense complete I just hope that ripping the band-aid off fast, doesn't result in an open wound proned to infection
  7. Formerfan: The reason that we have one of the lowest "ave ranking" is because we have the nearly the most recruits..... I think that you may need a math lesson The more recruits, the lower, yet more accurate the rankings....We have 26 guys whom are ranked.....A lot of these teams still only have 12-18 guys whom the average is figured.. Common sense tells you that unless all these teams fill their slots with nothing but 5 * guys, their "ave rank" will drop as thier committment list grows..... Let's wait and see how the "ave rank" falls on Feb. 2 If it still is one of the worst, I will eat my words , but after the other schools fill their slots with a few 4-5 guys, and a lot of 3 * guys, it will all figure out
  8. What makes you believe he is NU bound....a hunch or some inside info... Whatever it is, I hope that it is right. With Boateng jumping to Florida, Brooks could be a HUGE get....ranked very high Thanks for the info Nebr. Bob Here is to the possibility to Brooks
  9. Thanks for the update Nebr Bob McKinney maybe Could it possibly be Reggie Smith....other sites have mentioned that they have info that leads Smith to NU Maybe Suh?
  10. I completely agree with Dave H here I am not familar with the "board" that the info was found on, but the fact that Williams has been "hush" and the fact that the name of the person making the post was called "Redshirt" tends to make me a little more reserved. "Redshirt" may be a little biased to the Big RED. This is just my gut, but I do think he will end up at NU.....the fact that Bullocks and Washington left, combined with the fact that our punt return game sucks, will really influence him. Sorry, I meant to say that "Smith" has been hush, not "Williams" I am a dumb fu#%@r!

  12. I hate to disagree with you, but I don't buy into Smith's return being a sign of leadership....I don't believe he ever truely considered leaving...He is not good enough to make the jump..... To me, he is an "attention seeker" and this was a ploy to get his name and face in the media during January By "staying" he WANTS everyone to think that he will be the leader next year.... Yes, he wants to be the leader, but he is trying to earn it by "acting like he is staying and doing us a favor".....It sure the hell by his actions on the field If I remember correctly, he talked smack befroe KSU and fell flat on his over-hyped face. Now, I do agree that Herian will probably be the leader, even if he plays TE Don't forget about Daniel Bullocks and Jay Moore being potential leaders
  13. But how are you going to determine if they are? By how the recruiting class finishes in rankings? That's not the best measurement IMO. To me, the goal of recruiting is getting guys that will thrive with the type of ball you are going to play. Given that, I think we will see if they can really recruit and form their recruits in the next couple years. Kinda what Blackshirt said. Good post.....very valid point I don't think you can judge this staff on their final "ranking" My point earlier wasn't thinking of #1 ranking..... I am hoping that BC can out recruit the other schools for guys we HAVE TARGETED for this system... I agree that the #4 rated QB may "fit" better than the top 3 rated guys, so you can't base results on rankings. BC needs to be able to get "his" guys, even if Florida, OU, USC want them....This was my point.. You guys are absolutely right, it will take a few years to see the results of this years class... and success.
  14. Agreed ! Enough with the changes..... You can't build continuity with changes... EVERYONE in D-1 football agreed that the reason behind the success of the 90's team was the fact that there was continiuty omong the staff like NO OTHER PLACE IN THE COUNTRY. Let this staff at least have a chance to succeed.... I don't agree with everything that is going on, but until these guys are given a chance to fully implement their systsem with their players, I don't think we can acurately "judge" this staff. 247 I agree with most of your posts....In fact, I see you as "myself" 20 years ago...Keep on believing my man... We need fans like you to keep the tradition going BUT I consider myself as the biggest and the most loyal fan alive (as most of us on the board do), but I am not 100% sold on BC.... Just because I am not 100% sold, doesn't represent my allegence to the program.. I agree that a coaching was needed !!! I absolutely love the excitement around recruiting A team is only as good as the players....But, BC still has to prove to ME that he is capable of putting together an intelligent game plan to win the big time games...hell, he needs to prove he can put together a game plan to win the small time games (ISU) I am a football coach, and sometimes, you have to abandoned game plans during the game in order to win....every-game plan looks good on paper... He has not shown me that he can accurately scout an opponent and prepare If he adjusts better, we beat SMU....if he plans better, we beat ISU (not 7 rushes in 1st half), and if he plays to compete with OU, maybe we show a little better.... OU's DBs were their weakness, but he refused to try to expose it...I know I know...Daily sucks too, so that could have been bad....If he adjusts better, we don't get embarassed at TTU So, I am a loyal as they come, but can anyone see where I am coming from
  15. I am on your side Benard !!!!! I honestly believe that if Marvin Sanders was still coaching DB's that there is no way in hell that these two guys leave !!! I understand that $$$ talks and Fabian has legit reason's, but I think that Marvin had a much closer relationship with these guys and would have influenced them enough to stay!!!! Bullocks is disappointing .... I respect the fact that he had positive comments about NU, but I don't think he is ready. Both of these guys had average years at best (when compared to last season)... I know that Ahman Geen left early, but so did Johnnie Mitchell and Lawrence Phillips and that worked out well I hope that they have great careers, but I really believe that the staff had a HUGE influence on them leaving. This is starting to concern me.....We sucked this year, and hell, our best players on a bad team are leaving Where does this leave us ???
  16. I honestly think that this staff is pretty good at recruiting... It is obvious that recruiting the sole reason some of these coaches are here.... We will see in the next couple of weeks if they are AS GOOD as advertised....they came in late last year and were able to sway a "few" guys to come to NU Early in this recruiting season, we had a lot of guys that committed, but it was very obvious (at least to me), that our staff was addressing recruiting A LOT SOONER than many other schools....it is easy to get the kid's interest when you are the 1st to come calling. Now that all of the other schools are focusing 100% of their time on recruiting, we will see if this staff can compete against the big dogs!!! Willl they let Florida take Brooks and Boateng or will they let OU take Reggie Smith, etc.... As we were building an early lead in recruiting, the other schools were focusing on WINNING THIS YEAR... I have felt all along, that maybe BC and company were focusing most of their time on recruiting and not enough time on the game planning for this season !!!!!! During the next three weeks, we will see if these guys are worth their reputation.
  17. Happy Birthday ! I hope all of your b-day wishes come true (Suh, Brooks, McKinney, Boateng) .......Wait, those are my wishes..... oh heck, have a great day....Thanks for all the info

Point well taken. I just get pissed off thinking about all of these guys who aren't gauranteed to ever step on campus, even if they sign LOI. Barry Cryer sounds a lot like Cornelius Thomas from last yr.... A highly touted Juco, who showed up about 6 months too late to matter... Hell, Barry can't even enroll for classes yet.... Says he is still moving to Lincoln, but may not take classes. No classes....No practices !!!!! Rumor on other post is that the reason why Auburn may be backing off of Powe, is because he may have absolutely NO chance in qualifying academically.... So, he is visiting NU, because he probably knows that BC may not care. I just hope none of these scholarships get wasted because we offer to a "big name", 4-5 star IDIOT just to say we have the #1 class, instead of offering to a 3 star kid who may come in, work his ass off and be intelligent enough to learn the system.... [/b]The top 5 ranking means squat anyway, especially if a few of the kids cant' qualify. But, I understand what you are saying Hoyamann, and you are right... I'll back off and relax a little.
  21. This was the first thing I noticed when researching this guy.... Way too slow for D-I football at CB Maybe could escaped with this speed at a SS or FS spot... Those spots are usually for "over the top" coverage and/or for big time hitters (ie Reggie Cooper). The fact that we offered this kid supports "Roz"'s opinion that Meyers-White is not coming to Lincoln. Hey, these 3 * kids can really hit it big in college... I have heard good things about this kid by the expert analysts (Crabtree) I read where someone was bitching that this kid can't be any good because only Missouri and Kansas had offered..... Hey take a freakin look....Mizzou has better athletes right now than do...If Mizzou offers, that is not a bad thing anymore.
  22. I agree here. I think Daily will be the "pre-season" (Spring practice) #1 QB with Taylor listed co-#2 with Adams....... Look for a Daily vs Taylor in Red-White game. BC will feel compelled to list Daily at #1 going into Spring, and probably at least co-#1 heading into fall practice..... He may not be talented, but having a clue in the system will mean more than most people think. I agree with the probable depth chart Kramer has, but don't be surprised if Wali Muhammed (?) is list at least co-#1 at either DE spot Bowman will start ahead of either Grixby or Defrand. He is the most highly touted (5 stars) DB that we have landed in some time..... IF he is nearly as good as the experts....(including Bobby Boowden) says he is, he will be an immediate impact player. :
  23. "Roz" (Husker Ill.) just report on Sports Nightly that Powe has scheduled a visit to Lincoln. Said his visit was supposed to be this past weekend, but snow storm kept him away. Roz says that Powe will visit sometime this month. Unfortunately, Roz also reported that he thinks Adam Meyers-White will not end up a NU and neither will McKInney Still a chance with Smith and Brooks, but no idea on Boateng

What do Rodney Piccou, Leon Jackson, Marlon Lucky, Broderick Hunter, Barry Cryer have in common ? 1. They are all "prize" gets for the 2005 recruiting class...currently ranked #1 * nice job of recruiting AND 2. They are all struggling to reach the requirements to enroll. How many of these "studs" are never going to be on campus because of academic reasons.... Meaning, a wasted scholarship offer and a "big" hit to our 2005 class. Don't you think that maybe the coaches may want to look at how close an athlete is to the proper grades? I can see a few kids, but at least 5 big time guys......common on
  25. All of a sudden, even with the highly ranked recruiting class, I begin to wonder if it will be enough to plug the holes? I was hoping some of these "hot-shots" could red-shirt, but hell, we may need most to play NOW. With Pilkington, Fabian, and now possible LeKevin Smith (?)... Smith is not ready for the NFL..... Hell, he couldn't even take over a "series" last yr. let of lone of game.... He is not a "difference maker", but we need him ** Rumors saying that Boateng is headed to Florida With all of this, and a month left of recruiting......What NOW becomes our priority in recruiting? My Thoughts: (top 5 needs at this point) 1. Reggie Smith: We need a tall, physical DB to replace Fabian 2. Suh: (DT): If you can't stop the run, you can't win. * Plus Cryer needs to get the damn grades !!!! 3. Chris Brooks: We need an impact player here. 4. Brandon LaFell: See above (Listed behind Brooks, because I feel we have a better shot at Brooks) 5. Adam Meyers-White: Another shut down DB to add depth These are just HANC's priorities... If we could get all 5, I would be happy as pie
