  1. Congrats to the Huskers. Ganz is what Cullen Harper could be if he had a better line and didn't take ill-advised sacks and didn't move the pocket needlessly...so I guess I'm saying they are nothing alike. Anyway, yall's defensive front destroyed our weak o-line, and I didn't really understand our play-calling. I mean, why put the game in the hands of your struggling QB? I know we didn't have a lot of success running the ball, but that's no reason to abandon running all together, particularly at the opponents 10, down 5 with a minute left. Run it twice and worse case scenario has you somewhere inside the 10 on the last play, so you don't have to try hope-to-God heaves that probably aren't gonna work. I think Bo was a good hire and has you guys heading back to the top. Again, congrats on the win and good luck next season.
  2. Hey RealUSC, Can I borrow a chromosome...you seem to have an extra.
  3. Yeah, when he was still Clemson's head coach we played Missouri and they clobbered us and did so with a QB named Pookie, I think.
  4. "Maybe 'Banks' was G@Y!" Bite your tongue sir!!!!! Banks was all man...he can't help it that the unis sucked.
  5. UGAHusker, I'm sure we do...I'm sure I know them actually.
  6. Hopefully you guys can help me out here. I'm trying to get a good flavor for midwestern football, since we don't play teams from out there very often. I'm just wondering, in the opinion of Nebraska folks, what team that you play at least semi-regularly has the most obnoxious fans? My vote for down here, personally, is Georgia and Florida State. Marshall's were pretty bad too when they came to our place a while back. LSU's were pretty rude when we played them in a bowl several years ago.
  7. Oregon's really suck. Anytime I start bitching about the purple unis, a friend of mine always reminds me that purple was featured in the school's earliest jerseys. "Banks McFadden wore purple" he says. "Yeah, well it probably looked like crap on him too" I always respond.
  8. Missouri beat us when Tommy West was still coaching I think...that was a while back. Didn't they have a QB named Pookie or something? We stomped them last time we played them. Shawn was on some show...was it Seaquest maybe? I need to find a better picture of Nancy, she's much more "top-heavy" than that picture shows.
  9. That's pathetic Cy...there's nobody playing the washboard or a mop handle, twine and bucket upright bass, so it couldn't be our band. I did locate this picture of a member of the Iowa State Glee Club singing the alma mater prior to one of your games earlier this year.
  10. Don't forget two of our notable alums... TV host Nancy Odell and former Miss Universe Shawn Weatherly...or should these go in the girls vs. girls thread?
  11. Our defense got a huge boost when Rashad came back...Bowden saying he didn't realize what a big difference Rashad made is proof positive that he was clueless. Hunter and McDaniel are coming along nicely, I think, and they inject some needed nastiness and attitude. Totally agreed about Tommy's offensive philosophy. It drove me nuts to see Davis run for 100 yards in the first half and not see the ball for the entire second half. Bowden would always argue "well, they were stacking the box." That's crap...so just by having the other team creep their safeties up, you're going to toss out half the playbook? He had a bad habit of letting the defense dictate to him what he was going to run.
  12. Our defense will be more aggressive than it was under Koenning, who I actually don't think did a bad job, but Dabo wants more man coverage and blitzing and less of a cushion for opposing receivers. Dabo and Billy Napier are the de facto OCs. They've done a better job utilizing available talent than Bowden and Spence, but then again, Bozo the Football Playing Clown would have too. They're using Kelly as the downfield threat he should be and are putting the ball in Spiller and Davis' hands, which Spence the supposed mastermind could never seem to figure out. Our O-line still isn't great, but has improved over the course of the year and should be good next year when all these freshmen and sophomores have grown up a little more. The biggest plus to getting rid of Bowden will be our Bowl preparation. Honestly, the most maddening part of his tenure was how unprepared and sloppy we looked in bowl games. The Kentucky fiasco a few years back was the tipping point for me with him. I think Dabo will at least put together a cogent gameplan.
  13. HuskerTrucker, If you haven't already, try block-c.com. I like it better than Tigernet. The design probably isn't what you're looking for, but the temperment and sense of humor seems more in line with what you guys have here.
  14. I hate the purple. I know it was part of the unis long ago, but we got away from it until Hatfield brought it back against N.C. State in 91 I think. Purple should be reserved for Kool-Aid, singing dinosaurs and eggplants. I like all orange. I also, like Penthouse Tiger, prefer the bigger paw on the helmet.
  15. Yeah, I know it has it's downsides (third and long) but if you've got a QB who can throw it pretty well, I still say it's close to unstoppable. Georgia Tech is fun to watch...did you see the Miami game? Wake Forest used some option/flexbone stuff when Grobe first got there, but have kind of gotten away from it since Riley Skinner took over at QB. When ya'll had Frazier and Crouch running the show, it was a great thing to watch. I can understand WRs not being crazy about the option, though. Part of the problem for colleges running the option now may be that fewer high schools run it. Most school's around here either run the spread or some Wing-T variation.
