Agree, we see top level QB's throw jump balls all the time...ncaa or nfl...if he is throwing it up, not into constant double coverage, I will take that...those are the things (stretching the field) which we have been missing

Yep. If Omar is an "NFL guy" you absolutely take your chances on a 50/50 ball. Give your playmakers a chance to make plays.

It's likely not just the Jimmy's & Joe's, and it's likely not just the coaching. Some of it likely has to do with stuff like, for fifth-year seniors, Chinander is their fourth defensive coordinator.

We need a stable coaching staff, several years of solid recruiting, and guys brought in to match the system we want to run.

  3. Good lord, give it some time. This type of overreaction and demand for change is what has gotten us to this point. We need stability in a scheme and recruitment for that scheme before we can truly judge it. If you brought in the best DC in the nation and judged the output after less than 1 year, you still wouldn't be happy because it takes time for players to learn the scheme and to recruit the players to fit the scheme. TRUST THE PROCESS.

  4. @lo country I agree with all of your points. Currently battling it out on my status regarding our mutual take on the poor use of Gifford against an OT all day. He's not Jadeveon Clowney, so maybe don't use him as such.

Where are the mixed fronts? Bring 8 guys up to the LOS, rush 5/drop 3 or rush 3 /drop 5, etc. Make them at least think a blitz might come. This is a Diaco-level base 3-4 with poor in-game adjustments and it's maddening.

DB's need to learn how to turn their head and play the ball. If you're not even at least looking back toward the ball, you're gonna get flagged for any amount of contact.

I was just about to comment something similar. Yes the RB was in the area, but he was lying on the ground, after whiffing on his block on the blitzer. Technically, he’s an eligible receiver, but the pass was thrown to avoid a sack. I thought it should have been grounding.

Well that's your opinion, but that's not the rule. These refs were trash but that was technically the right call.

But didn't they get away with grounding twice in order to get the field goal? Am I mistaken ….can you really spike the ball when you're in the grasp?

There was a RB right there on both plays. So that's your intended receiver (despite the fact that he was blocking) and thus no penalty.

If previous coaches were responsible for the product they put on the field, these coaches are as well.

When Chin was hired I wondered, aloud, how long it would be until Frost is pressured to fire his buddy.  At this rate it's going to be sooner than I expected.

If Chinander would have just been totally mediocre, he would have been a big improvement over Diaco.  He's roughly as bad as Diaco.

This scheme looks eerily similar to Diaco's way too often. No pass rush, soft coverage with a 7-10 yard cushion and guys running free across the middle.

When you have a terrible pass rush, teams don't have to hold to keep you away from their quarterback.  Not rocket science.

Our pass rush is trash, but I saw multiple blatant holds.

That could be... but I think they are trying to put good weight on him.

If he’s gonna play 4 games and he is as advertised a better cover LB... which 4 games you gonna choose?

    Im going...

Ohio State-need athletic LB on field

Iowa- Need athletic LB to try and cover Fant and Hockinson

BC - Great game to get a bunch of confidence.

Michigan State- might need another baller that day?

I would replace BC with NW since we need speed at OLB to cover their spread attack.

They said in August they want to redshirt Dixon,  so I’m not surprised he hasn’t been used

Wouldn't they still want him to play in 4 games this season? Northwestern would be a good game to get his feet wet at a position of need as they have shifted significantly to a passing offense with the retirement of Larkin.

Love these!  Our social media presence has been improving over the last few years but this is taking it to a whole different level.

Also, has there been more tackling in the first half of this spring than in the previous three years?

On the HuskerOnline podcast they said there has been quite a bit of tackling to the ground this spring. They noted that this was a significant change from past springs.

I wish they would actually power lift. Look at Gates. Then go look at game pics of Stai, Zatechka, Weigert.

Corey Raymond took a lot of heat for this simple comment that rang true then and does more so today.... "Look at them and look at us". Look at FSU and UM now. The reels of Clemson and OSU. Bama, etc...Those teams pass they eyeball test. Their players look like power 5 FBS players. They look like you'd expect a top 10 team to look. NU? In some positions yes, but in the trenches, where games are won we do not......

THIS. Love the walk-on program, but it is not meant to be a source of starters for your team. We will NEVER compete for championships in this era of college football with walk-ons starting on both the offensive and defensive lines. I don't want to hear, "well in the 90's we used walk-ons and we won championships." News flash: it's not the 90's anymore. We need to get with the times and level the playing field. I'd venture to guess that Bama's 2nd and probably 3rd string linemen are better than our first teamers this year.

  13. Can't believe what the Texans thought Osweiler was worth. If it doesn't work out that seems like the kind of move that could bury a franchise for a good long while.

No kidding. Based on a limited resume, working alongside (arguably) one of the greatest defenses in NFL history.

They're paying him like he's an elite top-tier QB and he has done very little to warrant that.

The Broncos are getting picked clean in free agency. Tough year to be in the market for a QB with the weak draft class and low quality of the FAs available.
