  1. agreed, except the play calling at USC make more sense....... hunter
  2. Your right about the receivers, Hardy was the only one that looked good. Nunn only had 1 catch. Sievers looked fairly good. We got our TE's into it a little bit. I know we are depleted at receiver so hopefully it will improve as we get guys back. I was hoping we would throw more to our backs coming out of the backfield. Swing passes where it is one on one, screen pass, FB in the short flat, rb up the middle between the saftey and the lb's. Maybe billy c was holding the playbook back. that was exactly what i was hoping to see too......with Lucky, Glen, Jackson, and Ross why wouldn't you use that speed and throw to them.......get them isolated out there where they can make a play......if the playbook does not open up at WF or Pitt we are screwed for the season..........so far "Billy Ball" sucks...... hunter
  3. as a former NFL coach, it really makes you wonder when you see his play calling.....hell, everyone knows you have to pass occasionally on 1st down, so why was that not being done?.....the play calling on the 1 yard line really has me baffled.....but then it appears we better get used to some uncoventional play calling by this guy....does he really think his genius is 2nd to none when it comes to play calling?? is the offensive coordinator calling any plays or is Cally calling them all? hunter
  4. well, that does not forebode well for things to come....... hunter
  5. yeah, but i don't think they were rebuilding that year either.....this is WAY different......... hunter
  6. Lets hope he kept the offense out or we are in trouble. If he did and we got a win, albeit not very pretty. If that was the full look for NU then it will be a long season. Might as well start getting excited about the new 06 recruits. we damn sure better have some good performances when the next batch of recruits come, or recruting will suffer too....the goal for this game should have been to blow them out and play as many kids as we could to get them experience, hell even Ganz spoke before the game and expressed hope to play when the score got lopsided enough.......this had to be disappointing to all the kids.... hunter
  7. don't suppose it hit him when the score was 15-7 do ya?? boys. i again see poor coaching here..... hunter
  8. failure to execute (the O line, standing around) equals failed preparation.........or should we just admit they had better athletes and let it go at that?....which way is it, really? comments??? i say time spent on run blocking was negligiable hunter
  9. WOW, kick-ass!! we shall see, we may have something here........keep us update on some of his other performances....thanks!! hunter
  10. nameless, you are correct on several points......i said earlier last week, i was surprised Jackson was No.2 behind Ross.......Lucky was the guy i saw making the No. 2 spot and Cody Glenn needs to touch the ball at least 5-7 times a game...and like i also said, Grixby is too small to make it as a DB, hell if Maine ate his lunch, what will it be like when we get into real competition? again, 5'6" 165 lbs. will not carry you in this league, no way, no how.....the infamous Cally playbook.....i just don't know what to think, by god Charlie Weis sure took the ND boys and got them ready and kicked Pitts ass, so i am not sure about the future and Cally's philosophy......you know, coaching ain't just coaching at different levels, look at Spurier, good in college, a bust in the NFL.......i just don't know about Cally yet, but by the end of this season i will damn sure have a real solid opinion of him and his tactics, i will be 100% behind him or ready to lynch him! last year was his "learning year" for college ball, this year better see some REAL IMPROVEMENT!!! hunter
  11. lame excuse for a heartless effort....... hunter
  12. ok, my last comments along this thread, everyone was so high on the O line and their ability to be good this year, play better, have better back ups, etc.....my final point, these guys should have been at LEAST as good as the Maine players and by god you cannot convince me they were ready to play.....they WERE NOT COACHED ready to play.......i am tired of the excuse we have no athletes, damnit, underachieving kids get up every week for a big college game and outplay better athletes and this was pitiful from the O line perspective......the coaches have got to take the heat for this lame-ass effort. Aagin, not saying they won't improve or play better, but Cally and Co. DID NOT HAVE THEM READY AND THAT IS THE FACTS, LIKE IT OR NOT!!! hunter
  13. good deal, another good kid from Missouri.........will give Josh and Harrison someone to play catch with, we hope! hunter
  14. get used to seeing grix getting picked on......as i said earlier, he is way too small to play heads up against a big wideout (hell, Iowa has cheerleaders bigger than he is!) and he will get beat alot this year.....he better enjoy his college days, 'cause at 165 lbs. he has no future in the NFL......"windshield/bug syndrom".....nice kid, just too small, giving away too much size to be a shut down guy....... hunter
  15. still no word from recruits? there is another board with some chat about recruit impressions, but i could not get on it........anyone got anything?? hunter
  16. if we can't pick up a yard then the hell with it.... hunter
  17. my sentiments exactly!! makes no sense whatsoever......zero.....none!!!!!! p-p-play-calling!!! hunter
  18. how can any coach be so bad at play calling?? 3 passes from the 1 yard line? hell, you would think we had no running backs whatsoever?? what was Cally thinking???? hunter
  19. so if we are disappointed or complain about the effort/results, we are suddenly not fans? give me a break.....we are simply pointing out what many feel we should not be seeing, at least to this degree, in the first game effort. so all good fans should be satisfied with the performance? if you want to be happy about the results against a non D-1A team then be happy, but the reality is this team needs lots of work, much more than was anticipated. back to fundamentals, which should have been addressed in pre season training.....that for me is where the disappointment is, and it is in the coaching, once again.......i am not saying they will not get better, but fundamentally it looks like the coaches assed up the prep for the season opener, but still not too late to correct this......i hope. hunter
  20. so Glenn is the last one of the bench? i don't agree with that observation...... hunter
