  1. First of all... GMoose, I owe you a kick in the nads. I actually believed you're Baylor bit and nearly went into cardiac arrest. Second... I have a theory as to why AG's backfield mate (the other RB) said his decision would "shock the world." It's very simple, ask any tried and true Longhorn and they'll tell you the very same thing... the world = Texas Simple math.
  2. We'd all love to Z, but the guys on 1620 bring up a good point... there's no one to appeal to. There is no board to talk to. It's basically Beebe and Beebe alone, and you better believe that guys wants to screw us over. What a d-bag.
  3. Kinda makes me think he's going to pick FSU or Cal... but if so, oh well. One player does not make or break Husker football... but he could def help
  4. You know with our training facilities and coaches that we will get him to where he needs to be. I say by the time fall camp roles around he is up to 200 pounds easy. And I think we will either redshirt or greyshirt him(depending on how the rest of our class turns out), and by 2012 spring practice he is exactly where the coaches want him as far as his physical frame. Hide the wives and daughters, kid is a good looking kid. I got a mancrush on him. Welcome aboard. You will win a MNC during your career at NU. You forgot to include this emoticon: Mainly b/c schuhbdoo wouldn't HIT it, he'd treat Tariq gentle as the first freshly bloomed rose in the Irish country side, dripping wet with the dew of a new morn... Sweet and gentle. There. Try and get that, the most homoerotic analogy ever made on Huskerboard, out of your head. Dare ya.
  5. Well, at least it won't be anything we're not used to, lilred... That = MAJOR RECRUITING FAIL Anyway, does anyone know if ESPNU will be streaming this online or something? I'd love to watch Aaron actually announce (but hopefully not sit there in disbelief like with Owa).
  6. Go away, jayhawk. This is a FOOTBALL board and last time I checked, you don't have a football program. Lol, poor Jayhawk... getting no love. Stick around buddy, you're welcome here... I just think it's the wrong time of the year for you to be frequenting this particular board. Football/Volleyball season: Our time to shine. Definitely not going so well for KU. Still, I'd rather have you here now than in basketball season... cuz I know you'll be able to talk some smack then
  7. That was such a tease, though... that's why it got to be sooooo long. I remember four or five different occasions where someone leaked "insider" info and it turned out to be total crap. Oh well. Bet he's happy at UCLA, as long as happiness has nothing to do with winning championships. Seriously, though, they'll probably have to take another loss every year starting next year, with CU moving to the Pac-10 Hopefully, our communication web of Jamal Turner and Tyler Moore and Ryne and maybe even new commit Allen have reached out to Aaron frequently and kept close with him. What'd be awesome is if Allen and Aaron coordinated this to give NU two close commits. That be the sh*t. Nuff said. Hey, Aaron, with Anthony Blue, your bro Andrew Green, Cody Green... there's always room for you on the NU all color team
  8. Ehh, hopefully Wayne's still interested, but honestly, we're fine at safety. We just got Cooper last year, who is a total stud, and P.J. is obviously a safety of the future, at what spot I don't know... most likely strong safety. But we also have Harvey Jackson, Dijon Washington, Courtney Osborne, and Andrew Green, who can play safety in a pinch. I'm much, much more concerned about D-Line and LB recruiting this year. We have a solid start, with Williams and Santos both committed and either playing in or offered a spot in all star games, but that is NOT enough for this year, considering how sad our playmaking at both spots looks, especially D-Line... Lavonte is obviously the one bright spot.
  9. it was a clean hit. kid should have been paying more attention and i bet he will next time. what should martin have done? gone for his legs? slowed down and two hand touched him? yelled out "excuse me, sir, i'm headed in your direction"? it's part of the game. Although it is unfortunate when a player gets hurt, it is part of the game and this is not tennis. He lowered his shoulder, with the intent of hitting with his shoulder. Sh*t happens and this is football. I remember when the only thing said was "you need to keep your head on a swivel out there". In other words, special teams are dangerous and you need to keep your eyes open as much as possible. People should get over it, there was no ilegal intention or action. Football, football, football.. The thing to remember in this situation is that the player he hit is NOT seriously hurt. He's ok, Gundy confirmed it. Eric was doing his best to make a play for our team. He's probably the most intense, craziest player we have, and I personally love him for that. He brings some attitude to our team. He was trying to lay a block, and he did so, and inadvertently MAY HAVE used his helmet. If in fact he did, he certainly didn't mean to, and was just doing his part on special teams. I get the feeling a lot of the people who feel it was a dirty hit (it wasn't) are somewhat swayed by the bonehead announcers. They were full of crap, and obviously biased against NU. For example, when the Okie Lite player got the personal foul later on in the game for the helmet hit on Taylor, they said something to the effect of "That's just part of the game." Way to make it obvious, guys.
  10. Our WR corps actually sets up nicely the next few years, if you think about it. Niles obviously leaves after this year, which means (unless he continues to prove me wrong the rest of the year like he did last week) less big plays, along with less blown plays and fumbles. He's still a huge loss, a definite deep threat as a receiver and an excellent blocker, an underrated quality considering the offense we now run. Blocking as a WR is a must. Mike will also be sorely missed. Unfortunately, it's been slow going for him adapting into our adjuster role this year, but he's picking up steam and showing why he's got some of the most trusted hands on the team. Then we have Kinnie, an absolute stud and in my mind a better receiver than Paul, who will be a senior next year. I believe Gilleylen will also be a senior next year, finally. Seems like he's been around forever, probably just because his combo of speed and unreliable hands make him such a tease. If he could somehow find his way onto the field and our coaches can do something to fix his hands (STICK EM! ), he could help next year. After Brandon, we have unproven talent, but said talent has a lot of upside. Kyler Reed is flashing some serious ability this year. Reeling in two long bombs from Taylor for TD's. Looks like that speed we saw in the spring game last year was no fluke...I see him becoming Taylor's go-to deep threat in the future. Enunwa managed to find his way onto the field as a true frosh. A good sign... let's just hope we don't look back on his first year as a wasted one, ala Paul's or (woulda been w/o med RS) Suh's first years. Antonio Bell is gone, and I felt he coulda been a good receiver for us, seeing him make some really good plays in that same spring game, but oh well. Khiry Cooper can be a heck of a receiver for us, if he proves he's physical enough to stand up to being a WR in D1 (he's kind of wiry yet). Hopefully he really focuses in on football and steps up. Also, obviously, SJB is just waiting for his turn in the wings. He'll get his chance soon. I could also see Marlowe becoming a Wes Welker type of slot guy for us, if he puts it all together as a WR and not just kick returner. Whatever contribution we get from him is big though, as a lot of people dogged his commitment to us as being just b/c he was from Cardinal Mooney. I'd say it was good use of a scholarship... better than another "special teams maven," Mason Wald. I also hope Steven Osborne can somehow contribute... I was high on both the Osborne twins when the committed... Just big, athletic kids, and Steven in particular is built like Mo Purify/Kinnie and I thought could be a great, physical receiver for us.
  11. Is this gonna be televised nationally? I'd imagine MAYBE ESPNU picks it up, like their signing day coverage, but I don't know, might just be local. Figured I'd help the post count some more. Just found out we only have two more days to break the Owa record...
  12. I don't know who is watching the game, but Romo just got Bradforded. Seriously... almost the exact same sequence of events that injured Sam. Eery

  13. I'm guessing Oklahoma was thinking the same thing. I'm not terribly impressed with OU's offense... sue me. Landry Jones doesn't strike me as a winner under center... to me, he just doesn't have that "it" factor of a guy like Eric Crouch or, and I can't believe I'm saying this, Colt McCoy. Guys who just won games. I'm not saying he doesn't win games, just that he doesn't impress me like those guys did. And I understand that have Murray and frosh phenom Kenny Stills, but outside those guys, their offense just doesn't leap off the page at me. Marginal O line. Don't forget about Ryan Broyles. I get what you're saying about Landry Jones. But even so, if Oklahoma didn't have those costly turnovers in the redzone, they would've put up at another 10 pts on Mizzou. You might not be impressed, but putting up 35+ pts (the amount they could've had) against anyone is usually good enough to win. Kudos to you, sir. I did forget Broyles... He's a quality receiver. Still, I will tip my hat to OU when they show they can truly be the type of offense OU needs... one that keeps their defense off the field. It's almost liability at this point. It gave up 24 points to both Utah State and Air Force, and I don't care how good AF is this year. Really, OU's only two games this year that weren't close were both home games, vs. Flordia state before they found their groove, and ISU. Other than that, the offense stalled and the defense allowed a bad Texas offense to get back into that game. And they got into a shootout with Cincy. They're playing close games every week, and OU's offense hasn't dominated to the level that I'd feel comfortable as a Boomer fan, which is enough to make up for their D.
  14. I'm guessing Oklahoma was thinking the same thing. I'm not terribly impressed with OU's offense... sue me. 15. *I don't think Mizzou's defense, regardless of ranking, is going to be able to bottle up our offense... a REAL offense... IF AND ONLY IF we come out for blood right away. A sloppy start would be terrible. *Wow, I didn't know we were ranked in the 70's against the run... that IS frightening. I didn't know we were quite that bad. I guess it goes along with our bend, don't break style... but still. At least running the ball is definitely not their strong suit. They were built to pass, and our D was built to shut that down. *Mizzou's 3rd down conversion rate is quite low, I'm surprised.
  16. No way Barkley, Landry Jones, or Pick Six Stanzi belong on that list.
  17. i know they let us down a little over a week ago, but i still have a lot of confidence in our receiver corp. a lot of talent and play makers. I completely agree, nice to see them bounce back and gain confidence again. There are some serious mismatches when we have Paul, Kinne,McNeil, Reed and either Helu/Burkhead on the field. Especially if Martinez continues to settle in running this offense. Taylor's starting to learn from his mistakes... Esp. against Texas. He learned forcing it doesn't work. He tried that against SDSU, too, to no avail. He's learning to be Cool Hand Luke and keep a level head when the going gets tough, instead of losing concentration, screwing up his zone reads, and killing our running game. He's got to take what they give him, and that' what he's doing again. Mike was MIA the whole Texas game, so it was good to see his very reliable hands back into the game Saturday, and Kyler is quickly becoming Taylor's favorite deep threat. If our receivers continue to step up, this offense could be VERY, VERY scary.
  18. Ehh, Gabb had a decent day against a less than stellar Boomer D, that's fine... But he's still going to end his career against NU just like Josh Freeman-- with 0 wins. Calling it.
  19. Well, hell, at this point, I think we'd take that. Maybe Santos can make it up to Lincoln before the game Saturday and teacher some of our linebackers (and Rickey) how to tackle when you're not being blocked
  20. When I first saw this thread title, I was sure it was an article by that ridiculous biased Mizzou beat writer that hates us. Same guy that somehow got an AP poll vote and always votes us much lower than we actually should be. But I agree with you buddy. We spank Mizzou next week.
  21. Re friggin diculous. No way this is a Gameday worthy game... Not this year. I understand the tradition involved, but seriously! USuCks is 5-2 and just hasn't impressed me, regardless of how close their losses were. Oh well, still gonna be a dynamite game next Saturday. SOOOO JACKED. We owe Mizzou one more butt whupping before we head off to our new home.
  22. Wow, handy, I didn't know mods could transfer a whole thread into another like that. Powerful mods man... Did they seriously already announce that speed?
  23. What do you guys think? Gameday for us next week? The only other game that could hold a candle to ours is Michigan St. vs. Iowa. I honestly don't know which way they'll go with this one. Both match-ups involve undefeated teams, and it could really go either way. Everyone knows that dat dere ESPN luvs dem sum Big 10 showdowns, but I feel a bit better about our chances since Northwestern had Sparty on the ropes yesterday, and Iowa (specifically Ferentz himself, calling that timeout) p*ssed away that game yesterday that leaves them with two losses. If you don't know what I mean, google the game and find a game recap. I know there are bound to be a ton of guys who say "Who cares, Gameday sucks, all we need to worry bout is winning on the field"... there always are. But the exposure would be good for us, and I'm just curious as to whether you think our game trumps theirs and will win Gameday over.
