  1. Excellent choice. Definitely has Vandy on the up-and-up.
  2. That's because it's not really a possibility in the real world. I've never heard of a head coach voluntarily stepping down to be a coordinator at the same level. A D2 or D3 or high school head coach will often do it do jump to FBS, maybe even a FCS coach would do it, but name me one coach who's left an FBS head coach job on his own (i.e., not been fired) to take a coordinator job at another FBS school and I'll start thinking about it. Sorry, I meant NFL, not another college program.
  3. It all depends on the defense... time for Bo to PROVE that the he's the defensive genius that he's billed to be.
  4. I didn't forget... I purposely left it out. I was just quoting you. Didn't say anything beyond that. Who cares how old you were? You purposely left out the fact that I was 8, and state that who cares how old I was, as though it makes no difference. Just let it die, man.
  5. FLU said that if we throw money at him, he will come. Good enough for me. Whoa, whoa, whoa... don't take my words out of context. I didn't necessarily say Petersen... I said there would be some established big-name coach who would be willing to come for the right price.
  6. That's another thing -- some people consider it to be a ludicrous topic b/c we're only "2 games in"; however, others look at is as valid because we are now "5 seasons in" and there are few signs of progress or improvement. Gotta be willing to look at things from both perspectives.
  7. I will add this -- if we lose to Arkansas State, it's gonna warm up REAL quick.
  8. People need to stop saying "I don't think we should do anything right now..." No one is saying that anything needs to be done "right now." We all need to realize that the soonest that anything would possibly happen would be at the end of NEXT season, if Bo has back-to-back subpar seasons. A lot can change in the coaching world by then.
  9. You are fooling yourself. I don't think there are any "gimmes" anywhere on our schedule.
  10. Even worse, they compared us to Colorado...
  11. Glad to see this poll, just so that fans may finally realize that not everyone has the same opinion/perspective on things. Yet still some people feel that theirs is the only one that matters... I voted "pleasant" FWIW; however I think that back-to-back seasons of under 9 wins would warrant termination.
  12. Pretty accurate assessment, IMO. This is what I deal with on a daily basis down here.
  13. no one said that. here is what people said: 1. it is easier to recruit in the SEC. 2. not many established coaches would want to leave where they are at. not for nebraska, not for anywhere. 3. bo might be the best we can get. if we give him time, that might not be a bad thing. if given time, he might surprise you. 4. letting a coach develop and take his lumps is better than jumping ship every 4 years for a new coach. no one is going to want to replace a coach who wins at least 9 games a year, on average. I was told that Lincoln is considered "poison" by coaches. Same difference.
  14. Sadly, I think this may be the case... *On another note -- while I love Tom Osborne, and think that his return to coaching would definitely bring a boost to recruiting, I'm just afraid that if he was unsuccessful that it would tarnish his legacy, and I don't want to see that happen.
  15. I consider 9 wins to be the standard. Osborne maintained that standard during his entire tenure and it's the standard I hold other coaches to. If he finishes w/ under 9 this year, I'd say his seat will be warm. Another sub 9-win season next year... buh-bye.
  16. I didn't forget... I purposely left it out. I was just quoting you. Didn't say anything beyond that. Who cares how old you were? How did you interpret it? Now as for your whole 8 win or less vs 11 win thing. I'm not trying to debate the number of wins we have this year. Because I don't know how the season will play out. That's not what I'm arguing. So more to the point. What I really find irrational (pay attention because this important and I need your focus).. is why any individual finds it almost necessary to bring up the topic of firing our head coach when we're only 2 games into the season. If you want to talk about this towards the end of the season or even mid season, I'd say sure go for it (As long as we not 11-1 at is.. then I might say you have a mental problem) . But this year at this point we've only lost 1 game. And considering Bo's been here 4 full seasons and had at least 9 wins each season I find it ridiculous that so many individuals have found it to be their main topic of discussion in the past as well. If you don't understand that... maybe you could write a letter to Tom Osborne and see if he can help explain it to you. Wow, really?? You hold an 8-year old accountable for jumping on a team's bandwagon? Nice. In other news, you might want to look up the definition of the word "hypothetical" and get back to me. Webster's can probably assist you. I don't think it's trrational at all (and apparently neither do numerous others) for this topic to be discussed. This is MORE than just 2 games we're talking about, and that's what you fail to realize. This is Year FIVE of the same mistakes being made over and over again, with little or no signs of progress or improvement, and losing to teams that we have no business losing to. People actually have us on "upset alert" for Arkansas State. Not Arkansas, Arkansas State! 'Nuff said.
  17. Yikes... you're pushing your luck by starting this thread. Trust me -- I know. Besides, as it's already been clearly stated time and time again, none of the aforementioned coaches would ever come here -- Lincoln is considered a cesspool in the college football world. As I've said before, I don't think Bo needs to be fired, until he puts together back-to-back lackluster seasons. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him jump ship and take a DC position elsewhere if he feels his seat getting warm. A lot of people aren't thinking about that possibility.
  18. Wow, how far the mighty have fallen when we're actually concerned about losing to not Arkansas, but Arkansas State.
  19. I'll take Tennessee over Florida.
  20. it's not that our women are ugly, it's that they aren't in white shorts and bikini tops 11 months out of the year. even a hot chick loses some appeal bundled up in 10 degree weather walking two blocks across campus with purple lips, chattering teeth and crap running out of her nose. Didn't say there were ugly; however, I brought my wife up there for the Pitt game a few years back and the men acted like they'd never seen a woman before.
  21. I've been a huge supporter of Bo since day one, but today was the first time that I thought that maybe it's time for a change. It's been 5 years and I don't see any improvement and what's really scary is that these are all his players now. Defense is supposed to be his specialty and it seems to be getting worse and progressively slower and more unathletic. I feel pretty much the same. I'm not ready to show Bo the door yet, but if he finishes under 9 wins, his seat should be pretty warm. However, the numerous times I've mentioned this, I was shot down. We can't get any other decent coach here, and recruits don't want to come here, so I've been told. To summarize: 1) South has better HS athletes 2) South has better food 3) South has prettier women 4) South has national championships 5) South has better weather 6) Nebraska does not have the $$ to pay for an established head coach, and even if they did, the top coaches don't want to coach here. So, in other words, we're pretty much screwed and stuck in mediocrity for eternity, unless 1) we can miraculously win some sort of championship and attract top recruits; 2) Bo somehow becomes a coach that top recruits nationally want to play for; 3) it stops snowing in Lincoln; 4) Bo somehow improves with coaching and recruiting and we become an elite team with him; 5) Nebraskans learn how to cook better; 6) The genetic pool in Nebraska somehow improves and people start producing better-looking female offspring.
  22. Amen, brother!! Just be prepared to be drilled and ridiculed if you have this opinion...
  23. Glad to hear that Anderson and Santos will see time at LB.......
  24. In summary: 1) South has better HS athletes 2) South has better food 3) South has prettier women 4) South has national championships 5) South has better weather 6) We don't have $$ to pay for an established big-name coach, and even if we did, none of them would come here anyway In other words, we're pretty much screwed.
