  1. Here's the Huskers onsie that all my kids wore, framed with their pics inside, forever on my Huskers wall..
  2. I got him to autograph this pic that was taken at Tenn after a win down there in '98. He signed it "to the best dressed guy in NY.." because I was wearing his jersey. Side note, I was not planning on going to the Tenn game that year, but on the thurs or friday prior to the game, the NY Daily News had a little story about Frost and how some of his team mates may be rubbed the wrong way because he has been getting extra leeway from the coaches to learn on the job etc.. So I rounded up my fiance, a brother and sister, and we drove there, no tix/no motel plans, just to be there and show some support to my favorite Jet. We scalped great tix, they played at Vandy back then right after they moved form Houston, right on top of the field, and met up with him after the game for the pic.
  3. Here is his first pro tackle, vs the Colts and Keith Elias, the former Princeton RB who had a little run in the NFL. I remember when I took the pic I turned to my sister and said "I think I got that!" This was taken with a Cannon EOS rebel, with film, not digital (dont even know if there were digitals then...) If I recall correctly, toward the end of this game he got his first INT as well, against Peyton Manning, who he beat in the Orange Bowl earlier that year.
  4. Still got it??? Are you kidding??????????????????????????? Let me go take a pic of it on the wall with my cell, and I'll have it right up!!
  5. Thats me and him in Tenn after a Jets game there, he later autographed that photo for me "To the best dressed man in New York..."
  6. You're in SC, and graduating from HS, and you didnt find a way there?? Oppurtunity missed! Tix, blocks from the stadium, were being scalped for $40 each 2 hours b4 game time. I saw dozens more guys trying to unload tix as I headed in. You certainly could have gotten tickets far below face if you just could have gotten there. I went to the Orange Bowl for the NU/Tenn champ game (which at the time of the game, nobody thought was a champ game because Michigan had won the night before and all assumed they were Nat Champs) and bought tickets the night before the game from a Nebraska family that were camped out in the stadium lot in there RV. I think I paid a little under face value (but hedged my bet because if Michigan lost that night, I knew the price would go up for NU tix) The next day there were guys selling tix for miles as you drove to the stadium, is was incredible, they were almost paying ME to take the tickets, lol. The morale of the story is this-Get there, the rest takes care of itself
  7. South River in Middlesex. Work in Newark
  8. I heard that every state proclamation at the pep rally too, along with a woman who was 85, I think he said, who was at game. He also said there were people at game from 9 different countries too.
  9. Cant seem to find any mention of him after signing with the Chiefs, anybody know what he's doing these days? Another great guy who the Jets drafted from NU. I immediately got a Jets 97 jersey (his number) and went to Cleveland game out there (was going to road game anyway, not because of TJ.) his first year where I met him after the game. Trevor Johnson asked ME if he could take a picture with me....he said his parents would not believe somebody had his jersey!!!! Of course I took a picture with him, and then with my camera, I used that pic later that year for my Christmas card!!
  10. My Man!! Believe me when I tell you, I was the ONLY Jets fan who had a #47 Jets jersey in September of 98! In fact, I may be the only one who ever got one... Met him a few times after games, I actually snapped a picture of him at the moment of impact on his first pro tackle, VS the Colts and Keith Elias at the Meadowlands. I subsequently got it blown up to 8x10 and got him to autograph it after a game, when he saw it he immediately said "thats my first tackle", he asked if he could have one too. I gave him the negative at another game. Cool guy in my book
  11. Has there been anything new with this story, last I heard about it was when it happened.
  12. We were row S, section 121, is that the same section? I was in section 123, row A
  13. Sweet, they were the first 2 closest to the metal gates, how'd you pull that off?
  14. Thats us in the front row, me in the Wistrom jersey, and little Jimmy with the GO BO RED sign
  15. The players from the pre-game, lot XX, football game. It went the same way as the real game...
  16. As you guys all know, Nebraska doesnt get East too much, so us fans out this way have to make the games when we can! I was looking at EBAY for tix to the game, specifically had my eye on 2 tix, front row, section 123 behind the goalpost (my son likes the up close feel of the game, I would prefer a little elevation to see the plays develope and not be forced to look at the scoreboard to see how many yards were gained, but thats another story..) The guy wanted $149 each, way to much for me as I knew I could get in by scalping in JAX for a fraction of that. Another auction caught my eye, 2 tix and a park pass for $70. Tix were "Clemson donor tickets" in section 150, so figured they would be good and went for it. They arrived at my house on 12/30 at 130pm and me and my 7 year old son headed out at 8:45 that nite, 2 car flags, an anntena pennant, a Huskers magnet, and a customized Scott Frost McFarlane figure stuck on the dash. We drove until we got a little south of Richmond VA and called it a night at a Hampton Inn We finished up on the 31st, arriving in JAX about 6pm and headed right for the stadium so I knew the deal for the next day. I then see 3 busses with a police escort rolling by the stadium and know I got a 50/50 shot its NU heading somewhere, we follow them for about 10 minutes and wind up at local movie theatre, we park and move toward the busses, cameras ready, only to see it was the Tigers.... After a couple of misses with booked hotels, we find a Jameson with a lot of other NU fans and call it a night there, about 9 miles south of the stadium. We get to lot XX by 10am and meet up with some other RED fans, kids play football together, great atmosphere. We head in pretty early to see some pre-game and take some pics as they warm up. It was then I noticed that section 123, row A, was very empty so me and the boy get some food and head in like we owned the place! Apparently the guy never was able to sell the tix, but since I knew where they were, my gain. We had a great time, saw lots of action, my son will never forget his first Nebraska game. After the game we exit the stadium right at the NU busses, and get a spot right at the fence. In no time Marlon Lucky is signing my son's jersey, while eating his post game meal of pizza! After a bit we head back to the lot and make our way onto 95, heading north, grab some dinner at a Sticky Fingers with lots of other RED fans, and then head north until Dunn NC where we bedded down for the night. Friday morning we get out again and are home by 6pm to the wife and kids. I would like to thank the makers of portable DVD players, you are a life-saver!! To all you Nebraska fans I met down there, thanks for the memories!!
  17. Aftr the game me and the son hung around by the Huskers busses, met Lucky and got his 'graph on my son's jersey, very cool. All the players got their own post game pizzas, everyboddy walking around with them and a few gatorades, funny to see some of the guys sharing it with friends and family who were there to see them. After that we headed north on 95 and stopped at Sticky Fingers for some ribs before finally getting on the road I guess around 9pm, maybe later, the USC game was already over. Put my Sirrius on the ESPN channel, looking to hear some talk about OUR game....it was NON-STOP USC this, and USC that... I was ready to just turn it off, when they finally mentioned we were coming up, it was still another 25 minutes, and it was brief.
  18. I was in 123, immediately behind the goalposts on the Clemson end. The upper decks on the NU side were more full, but it seemed like Clemson mite have had an extra section of 2 downstairs. If it wasnt even, it was pretty close. And like somebody said, great showing considering Clemson fans didnt even need a hotel if they didnt want one. As I drove south on 95 from NJ in my truck with 2 NU flags, an antenna pennant and a magnet on the back, I took extra caution in SC and Georgia with the speed, didnt want to upset the troopers any more than necessary. I also had to explain to my son a couple times that the reason we only see cars with Clemson flags/magnets is because "Nebraskans dont drive on this road to get to Florida..."
  19. Hi all!! 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? I am 40, been a Husker fan every minute 2) What/who led you to The Nation? I really dont know, it certainly was not because there was alot of Husker fans around me... 3) Where are you from originally? I was born in Newark NJ, then moved to Barnegat NJ when I was about 5, its near Long Beach Island for any of you that may have been in NJ 4) Where do you live now? Living in Central NJ, near New Brunswick and Rutgers since I was 16. 5) Favorite Husker memory? Can't call just 1. My first game In Nebraska September '98 was amazing, seeing that Sea of Red that I had heard about or saw on tv so many times was such a thrill. Me and the fiance (now wife) drove down to the Orange Bowl and the big win over Tennessee for the National title, I went to the first 2 Big 12 Championship games. Bringing my 7 year old son to his first Huskers game Thursday is probably tops. 6) Worst Husker memory? The failed 2 point conversion was a killer. Even worse was the next day a friend telling me Nebraska might still be #1, which got my hopes up, only to be let down when the rankings came out.. (remember back then before ESPN and the like, it wasnt as fast paced as it is today). The first FG VS FL ST was tuff too 7) Number of home games attended? Just the 1 in 98, VS Washington, a Big Red Win. I also got my pic taken on the field by a boy scout usher, sent the pic in to Huskers Illustrated and it was published, me and the Mrs, sitting on the N at mid-field after the game 8) Number of away games attended? Been to 3 Big 12 champ games, and 2 bowl games (98 and 09) 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? I have a game used helmet, subsequently signed by Trevor Johnson (when he was with the Jets, I am a season ticket holder) I also have a picture that I took of Scott Frost making his first pro tackle against the Colts, right at impact, and blown up to 8x10, which Frost signed for me, and also asked for a copy of the picture!! 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? When the Huskers are down, its hard to find them on tv out here, I can always count on the NU/CU game, and the occasional Versus channel game 11) Favorite all time player? Grant Wistrom 12) WCO or Option? I liked the option, but with the right pieces I like the WCO too, whatever is best for our team. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Have to leave that up to the guys that are out there day in and day out, you have a better feel.. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Cant call that one either, noticed only Lil Red at the bowl game though 15) How did you find HuskerBoard? I was just googling...Happy to have found you.
