  1. Close there, UGA. Frost was a freak of an athlete, and was a "football player" in every sense of the term. Matt has sure played more than fine the last 2 years, but physically, cant hold a candle to Scott. That being said, Matt would be a great special teams and solid back up player for a team with one stud at the other safety.
  2. Gunner? Water Boy? Guy who cleans up the locker room after practices and games? I'm on it!!!
  3. Not so much every year, but each game day experience must include... 1) Hot dog to be eaten in no more than 3 bites 2) In your seat (or at a bare minimum, in the stadium) for the Tunnel walk 3) Pregame walk around the Pavilion 4) Runza for dessert Everything else kinda takes care of itself...
  4. Shoot, 23 is all? Why, Will Yancy had 31 his senior year on mine...
  5. Great thoughts. We were able to play great coverage this year becasue we got pressure with 4, sometimes 5 without blitzing. It will be very telling next year with more teams running right at us, to see if Bo and Carl send the dogs on 3rd and long. I read where we blitzed 2 times against Zona...on the last 2 plays to keep the shut out. If our D line can do that again next year, our secondary will look even better.
  6. I haven't really looked at the draft order or the roster thereof, but a team with a decent offense without huge needs, and already has a sold 1 technique player, should be busy finding ways to get up to that top spot. Suh will be a fantastic 3 tech or DE in the 3-4 scheme. It's been noted he maybe doesn't have the "moves" of other guys and will have to work on his pass rush in the pros. (It's so weird saying that about a guy who had 12 sacks and 24 QB hurries) Suh could really be special for a long time.
  7. Sheep, i really need to work on my sarcasm coming over the internet. Merely an idle thought on the struggles of the offense without ragging on Watson, Lee or anyone else. Then again, I am a HUGE fan of those uniforms. I for one, would not be unhappy if they became permanent. and before you jump that comment, i also realize we're not changing the uniforms.
  8. With great fanfare and build up, the team donned the "retro" jersey look for Lafayette, a team that had beat KSU just prior. We busted out the offense to the tune of a season high 55 points. Roy looked good, Zac looked competent, the defense got it's first shutout since 2006, even Rex and Cody looked like future stars.... then we auctioned off the throwbacks, it took the defense to kick the O's a$$ at Mizzou, and our offense hasn't doen a bloody thing except turn the ball over a horrendous number of times against ISU. So here's my question... Can we get the throwbacks "back" for the bowl game? We haven't seen our offense since then.
  9. Its not a great arm, but he can chuck up for grabs. It will be interesting to see Compton, Fischer and Dillard on the field together. Not sure it's happened more than a few times all year. Compton should be ready to fly around.
  10. NU 41 BU 6 Tray has a big day Suh with multiple sacks Rush 164 Pass 217
  11. I'll take on the bolded part. After watcing all I can, I think Zac is taking the "Sam Keller" approach to the offense. Watson calls down the play, which gets to Zac in the huddle. Zac calls 2 plays (alot) and the huddle breaks. Zac makes his read at the line, and has, very often, checked to a new play. Defense shifts late, Oline cant make adjustments, and we get a run stuffed, or Zac gets pressured so quick he can't go through his progressions. To the casual observer, the oline looks terrible, and Zac is scared, but in reality, he's making too many checks for his own good. To say "we need to simplify the offense" is much to broad. Zac needs to have more confidence in the guys around him to make a play. Seeing the D line up will give a QB a decent look at what could be open. Whether run or pass was called in, run it. If we can't make the plays go, then we need to change it from Wats, not Zac. He's taking too much of the responsiblity on himself, like Keller. Yet we saw Joe last year not chekc near as much. He had the play, saw the defense. He knew he might need to create one extra second on his own, but that meant Nate or Todd would come open. Zac isn't able to move in the pocket well enough to give the WR's enough time to get open, that's why we see helu as our leading receiver (as Lucky was with Keller). A QB with more confidence in his and his teammates own ability to run the play called, along with the QB's abilty to "make a play" would get this offense right back where it was last year, and maybe better. Whether it's Zac or Cody shouldn't matter. the QB who executes this week in practice (with no green jersey's, i love that idea) will be on the field Saturday!
  12. NU 31 TT 24 Rush 136 Pass 281 Suh has no sacks, but 3 PBU's!!!
  13. Did you miss the part about not using the sound system as a balance for those that don't want to hear all the "noise" Love the boards, now crank up the sound!
  14. I know I don't post very often, but this thread is really noteworthy. Many have said, and I think Jen said it best, that Lee needs to "manage the game." Don't force anything, lean on a solid running game, take advantage of the other teams mistakes... Shouldn't that be what EVERY QB should do? What does a QB do in an offense like ours to be "elite?" Should he throw for 3,000 and run for 500 and have 25+ total TDs? Is what Colt McCoy did so much different from what Joe did last year? Will Watson call different plays because Lee throws harder than Ganz? Probably not. Will he call for the QB to run more option be cause he's faster? With unproven depth behind him, probably not. So I'm curious on your thoughts as to what the difference is between what Joe did last year, and what Zac "should" do this year?
  15. 1. I wasn't "attacking" him. I pointed out that he was being completely dishonest about why there isn't a play-off system in D-1A college football. Just so you know, EVERY level of college football, from D-1AA on down to the lowest NAIA, have a play-off system where the academic needs of the students are met. Pearlman's comments about play-offs hurting the bowl structure is a strawman or red-herring type of argument at best. 2. The fact that Pearlman supports the "Notre Dame" exception, based on "tradition" is inexcusable. If the threshold for ND receiving an automatic BCS bid was that they had to win 10 or 11 games I don't think anyone would raise a stink. But I'm sorry, playing all three service academies along with filling the rest of their schedule with weak Big 10+1 teams, and only needing 9 wins at that, is an outrageous miscarriage of common sense. And, as always if you don't like what I have to say then you can... I think Jen raises some valid points. I'd like to see a Plus 1 championship bracket. Round one games played 2 weeks after the conference championships, with the NC game 2 weeks after that. Fill in the rest of the weeks with the other 29 bowls, and now you have still the billions of dollars a bowl game brings in, and a bracket that would eliminate much griping. Last year, round one games would have been Florida/Utah, and Oklahoma/ Texas part 2. I think you'd play the 1st round game at the higher seed. The 4 (and soon to be 5 with Dallas's new stadium for the Cotton Bowl) would rotate the NC game. It'd be easily expandable to 8 later. Just my 2 cents.
  16. End discussion now. These are by far the best uni's we've ever had. I like the idea of the '62 jersey's but the athletic dept could sell these off the rack by the thousands!!!

Texas: L 21-49 9-4, win the Alamo vs Wisconsin. 10-4 with a great jump on 2010, which i really do think could be very special. just for grins, the Offensive average would be 39.9 points per game, and Defense would give up 27.2. Might not be too bad.
  18. Hold the phones, for just a minute here folks. He outran Jim Ebke, the saftey who had the angle. It's not like he outran Nick Harris, Blake Gideon, or even Eric Hagg. Yeah, it was an impressive run, but a little perspective is needed. This by the way, isn't a knock on Jim. Kyler could be very good, but the second coming of matt herian he is not... yet.
  19. Lee's workload just increased, but unless something happens to him, Green should still be on pace to redshirt. Nothing changes at the top. Zac will play every snap of every game unless seriously warranted. Don't be surprised if a guy like Jim Ebke, who only moved to safety this spring, gets a few reps before fall practice begins.
  20. Blame the shoulder pads. It's tough to get your arm up with all the equipment today. Conversly, you see throwing motions that vary from the Zac Taylor (Drop your off shoulder to get your release point higher) to the Sam Keller 3/4 release (Shoulders more level, also requires more leg drive) to Cody's motion, which, like Vince Young's, looks alot like throwing darts. Not everyone can pull it off with enough zip. But from just a few videos, it looks like Cody can.
  21. This is how Green sees the field: 1) A small meteor crashes through the atmosphere during a Husker game in the fourth quarter, cutting of Zac Lee's right toes. He bleeds everywhere, and leaves the game. 2) Kody Spano and Latravis Washington both get the sh*ts immediately following Lee's unfortunate hit from a meteor, and must return to the locker room as well for the remainder of the fourth quarter. 3) By default, Green steps in. amen, brother... Don't get me wrong, everything I've read and seen of Cody says he could be very good, but this is Lee's team for the foreseeable future.
