  1. Maybe things have been put into perspective for me this week because of events that have affected people I know and care about, but life is too short to get upset about these kinds of things. It's better to enjoy the times where these games bring us together as family and friends than it is to fly into a fit of rage over a loss. Some people don't even have the opportunity to enjoy a game anymore, win or lose, and that is simply more tragic than any loss the Husker could ever suffer. And quite frankly I think it's pretty selfish to abuse your privileged of watching games by taking your aggression out on people and property. So let me get this straight. It's selfish of me to break my own chair that I paid for or punch a hole through the drywall in my hallway because someone else in this great big world has lost the capacity to watch a Nebraska game? By that same token it is also selfish for me to shove a Texas fan out of my face for hooping and hollering in my grill while leaving the 1996 Big XII championship game? Or slobberknocking a Colorado fan after spitting on my friend after the 2001 game in boulder? I understand this may an emotional response from you in reference to a recent experience and I empathize with emotional responses but I'm afraid don't share your sentiment and couldn't disagree with you more. Not selfish. Just oversensitive and stupid.
  2. Nope, just if you claim "It's just a game." And expect me to believe it.
  3. Enhance. Thank you for your well thought out articulated response. Unfortunately my "attitude" is not up for debate. My attitude is neither right or wrong. It is what it is. A perspective from life experience that is different and judging by your post, considerably longer than your own. In my life experience I have found that rational and irrational responses are both completely subjective and a matter of individual perspective. There are some situations that merit what some might consider an "irrational" response. It helps make life interesting, helps relieve stress, helps knock people with their face in the cotton candy back into reality. While it may be distasteful, frightening, or even physically painful depending on the circumstance you can rest assured that a lasting and valuable life lesson has been learned, either by myself or those directly impacted.

  5. I'm also glad to see my denial allegation is proving itself on this thread :-)
  6. *gasp* How did you know?... Don't give up my secret stalking techniques or I'll get banned from campus again. I also don't care what they say.. 50 bumper stickers is a "moderate" amount. Have you ever looked into being a psychological profiler?
  7. You know saying it's not just a game and explaining why is not the same as saying it's the end of the world. I don't pass it off as just a game and despite people saying that old " It's just a game" lie. Neither do most Nebraska fans and it reflects far more in their actions, especially post game, then in their cheap "It's just a game." talk. Look around today. Bring up the game to a stranger that you are reasonably sure supports Nebraska and tell me I'm wrong.
  8. I can see by the suicide references that many of you completely miss the point.
  9. Every time Nebraska loses I get to hear this lie. "Oh well... It's just a game." If you say this following a Nebraska loss then there are only a handful of reasons you are saying it. Denial, Mental Illness, Lack of true Husker born and bred passion, or finally your priorities are out of whack. You are so upset over losing the game that you pass it off as just college kids living it up and playing a little backyard game of piggly skin. Instead of a 122 year tradition and source of pride for this entire state. A storied tradition of fandom passed down from father to son.... and daughter over the ages. A source that unites family and friends in fellowship 12 to 14 Saturdays in the fall. Something that in Nebraska is a synonomous with fall as Halloween and Thanksgiving. That true Nebraska fans exhault with heartfelt joy in meaningful victory and feel physical and emotional pain and also humiliation in loss. It is a sport that brings in millions of dollars in revenue to the University, the city of Lincoln, and the state of Nebraska. Something that has a DIRECT impact on the education of our young people and the local ECONOMY. There is far more emotion wrapped up in 60 minutes of watching football on a Husker Saturday than many would care to admit but it doesn't mean it isn't there. I am only slightly embarrassed to admit I have done damage to property and person following the absolute RED blinding rage I go into following a loss, especially if followed by sh*t talk from people who hate Nebraska just to hate it, because they are too simple to wrap their minds around what football means to this state and it's people. That or they support some other hack of a team in which their support could never hold a candle to the passion Nebraska fans have.. So don't tell me it's just a game. (I'm sure some coy jackass will say it. Be first in line to show your true colors.) It's far from just a game to me.
  10. You know what it is? Disgusting and vomit provoking. There is NO EXCUSE for such poor tackling and NO EXCUSE for such poor scheming when you know exactly what they are going to run at you.
  11. Well dang ole dang ole howdy doo! Welcome back there Benedict. Is guud to see y'all! cheehaw! Durrr.... 1. Rice is still a horrible team! Congrats you beat two sh*tty defenses! Whens USC coming to town? That'll be fun. Maybe revamp your coaching staff again. 2. It was good to see a fast defense. I'm proud to say our guys don't hold on every down and interfere with every pass. It's good to see the reffs were as big of homers as FOX's commentators. 3. Your damn lucky Burkhead is hurt and that Martinez is such a head case that can't handle any pressure whatsoever otherwise it would have been more like 80. 4. We did hurt your QB. Appearantly it's acceptable to force your QB to play with a sprained ankle at UCLA. Notice Hundleys lacking ability to put points on the board in the second half vs. Our sh*tty defense. I bet that Ankle is the size of a grapefruit today. 5. You are a troll. Coming back here to gloat proves it. 6. Just because you start 2-0 and get lucky in a shootout against a sh*tty defense doesn't mean your cheap gimmick Mark Wahlbeg looking coach has any talent ." Look mommy. I can ice the kicker...oh wait...." (Loved it when Maher mocked Mora too!)
  12. Weird to go or weird to have a sign? FTR I fear Crouch's ham sandwich too! Wicked stuff!
  13. Obviously Gene Whoageechowski didn't watch the game against So. Miss. There is no lacking at running back. Rex might be out but Ameer, Braylon and Imani will do just fine.
  14. Find out why Bo doesn't think he should be held accountable by Husker fans. If Devaney and Osborne weren't given a pass when they were winning national titles, why should he get a pass winning conference division titles.
  15. Too low. Nebraska's spot should be 9th this week. Without a doubt.
  16. That's disgusting. I didn't see that on the replay. Did security remove Brian from the stadium? We have to protect our student athletes from such insidiousness.
  17. Napoleon Dynamite is from Idaho and everyone knows "he's" a Husker fan! So you are in good company dear person.
  18. It's always nice to see the expert analysis from the fans reiterated in 163 ways isn't it? So now I'm informed. What did I learn from these posts?. Taylor Martinez played well: It was hard to tell that by watching the game ya know. That's why I rushed here to check. Rex Burkhead appearantly got hurt? Ohhhhhhhh. Is that why he only had three carries? I thought he was limping around on the sideline working on a tan for the top of his melon. Crazy! The defensive line played bad: This one was really hard to tell for me. I thought when I saw the fellas with the black Southern Miss helmets slashing through our defensive line at will that "Cam and the bumbling stooges" were just being polite and making them feel welcome and not offend them by smacking them in the mouth and stomping them at the line of scrimmage. You know, the same principal as a participation ribbon.? Guess I was wrong. Alonzo Whaley didn't play well: Nonsense! A fundamentally sound defensive program like Nebraska would never allow such errant play like we saw from Whaley. He's obviously been cursed by a Mississippi warlock. The Special teams didn't play well: You know maybe if they treated field goals like horseshoes like they obviously should people wouldn't be saying that! You get close you get 1 point. Hit the posts you get 2. Through the uprights? Yay 3 points. Also, Brett Maher almost tackled the guy on the 102 yard return. Maybe they should only get 5 for the TD?
  19. On early Thursday starting at the stroke of midnight I light 5 Red Candles. Midnight marks the official beginning of the day college football kicks off. Each of the five candles represents a National Championship. At 9am on Thursday I walk outside and sing "Come a Running Boys" under the tree in the front yard. Then I get the ladder out and string up red and white decorative lights around the front threshold. In the evening I watch college football and anxiously wait to hear any mention of Nebraka by the commentators. On Friday morning I sit outside of the Big Red Breakfast in Omaha hoping to catch a glimpse of Bo and the other coaches. I then drive to Lincoln to memorial stadium to take photographs and stare longingly at Memorial Stadium. Saturday at midnight I light one white candle and perform a seance, rousing the spirit of the Great Bob Devaney asking him for a divination on the outcome of the days game and the upcoming season. I then stay up until sunrise and go outside to chant "Go Big Red" as the sun comes up. Afterward I go back inside and play Husker Fight songs like Hail Varsity, There is no place like Nebraska, and Mr. Touchdown USA on the stereo while eating pancakes in the shape of Husker "N's" Then about 10 AM I fall asleep and sleep until about 6 or 7PM. Then watch the DVR of the game and wish I hadn't gone through all the BS. The price we everyday Husker fans pay....
