Good prediction. I'll take it one further and predict a record 7 missed field goals by Baylor. Both teams will combine for 16 turnovers. Baylor will also have a record of 8 consecutive false starts pinning us back on our own 1/2 yard line. Suh gets the safety and Huskers win a nail-biter with a score of 5-0.

Nebraska: Y'all are better than I originally thought, and I'll eat a little crow. Good job hanging with a good Vtech team last week. Why didn't Pelini challenge the TD catch that was called back? That WAS a catch...the turf forced the ball out, and I thought the announcers were stupid not to make a bigger deal out of this. If he makes that catch....Huskers win. I still don't buy the Zac Lee is better than Ganz hype though...but he'll get there. I see the Huskers winning 9 or so again this year with a shot at the North. Still improved from last year, and Pelini is still the best coach out of last years new hires. (Pelini, Briles.........Sherman)

Baylor lost to a decent UCONN team. Not a good one. Decent. As a fan did the loss make me doubt the hype? Yes. After a couple of days and rewatching the game again, do I have more optimism? Yes. Bad coaching and turnovers lost the game. If I can see any positives about this Baylor loss, it's that we had 4 turnovers, forced zero turnovers, and still only lost by a touchdown. Baylor can still get to 6-6 or 7-5 if they play like they did in week one.

Agreed....that being said, I think Iowa State has a shot this week. Good luck this week Cy, no matter how much hatred you have for the Bears.

Cy....you've gotta be kidding me. And you obviously didn't watch Baylor or UCONN play last week. Half of Griffin's passing stats were recorded as rushing yards for our recievers since they were backward passes. Woulda been 220 yds with 2 TD's otherwise. No int's by the way. UCONN played Ohio University....not Toledo. They barely won that game too...against a MAC opponent. Granted Ohio looked good for a MAC team, but UCONN's QB is horrible to put it politely. They've got another stud RB, but no match for Baylors D-line this year. Did you not see the 355 pound wildebeast on the Baylor squad? (#11). Must be news to you, but Baylor now has a pass rush for once. P.S- Joe Pawelek was the Big 12 player of the week, made the ESPN top 10, and had 2 plays nominated for play of the week. One man team my a$$.

Where? It said "best case scenario"....Baylor to the Alamo Bowl. But he ended up with the Texas Bowl as the likely scenerio. I'll take it.

Wake has a suspect O Line, and while they return all five starters, it was a poor unit last year. Riley Skinner returns for his SR season, as do RBs Pendergrass and JR Josh Adams. However, Wake lost their top two WRs and replace them with Sophomores this year. It may not matter how experienced Skinner is - if teams stuff the run, he's going to have to rely on that porous O Line to protect him while his inexperienced WRs get open. Wake is not at all a sure loss for Baylor. UConn lost Tyler Lorenzen and Donald Brown, who combined for 147% of their offense last year. As much press as Lorenzen got last year, UConn only threw five TDs as a team all of last season. Baylor's greatest weapon is Griffin, and UConn is replacing three of their front four on the D Line. They return all three LBs from last year, but these guys aren't even close to Griffin's speed (not that most anyone is). If Griffin breaks through the first level on these guys... he's gone. No. No you don't. Griffin may not be much of a passer, but neither was Tommie Frazier or Eric Crouch. And they did OK as QBs. Wake Forest's line will improve this year if only because of the experience factor. And if Baylor has ever shown the ability to stuff the run consistently somebody is going to have to remind me when that was. As for WF's missing WR's....sounds like the same situation they have in a city close to here called Lincoln...and I don't think Husker fans seem too concerned. Griffen was a novelty last year...something nobody expected. Don't think for a second that UConn is going to throw the same 4-3-4 set at Baylor as lots of people saw last year. look for a 3-4-4 or 4-2-5 set to cut off his outside lanes. Baylor and Griffen are pretty much going to be Illinois and Juice Jones after their initial success. Arnaud, in my opinion, is a better QB than Griffen. Where Griffen can run well and throw not so well, Arnaud can run and throw. Arnaud has more football savy also. Think Griffen can learn three different offenses under three different coaches in two years? Arnaud did...look for big things from Arnaud and the Ames version of the Rice Spread Offense that was so successful last year. You are living in a dream world. Fortunately, I saved my mushrooms for later tonight. No doubt Wake will score points this year, but they only return 4 on defense. They lost 4 superstars to the draft. We've out recruited them EVERY year, not to mention we've out recruited Iowa State every year. Wake is a toss up this year. Iowa State...no need for comment. UCONN at home should be a win, and we will be favored. Donald Brown is gone, and he owned everybody. Don't forget to take into consideration that Briles is now fully implementing his offense. A 2nd year of running a system offense like that is going to do wonders. Arnaud is good. But come on...RGIII was a true freshman who threw 3 picks, and set the NCAA record for passes without an INT. Arnaud did neither.

Colorado is waaaaaay under-rated. They missed a bowl last year only b/c of massive injuries. They'll be ahead of Mizzou this year and behind Nebraska in the W-L column.

Serious questions on defense is obsurd at least for this year. The key to a good defense is having playmakers on each level of the defense (line, LB, DB's). Baylor for once in my lifetime has just that. Phil Taylor, DT: Started at Penn State as a true freshman. 2nd Team Preseason All-Big12 Team. He is Suh's equivalent if there is one. Joe Pawelek: Led the nation in interceptions and he's a linebacker. Preseason All-American Projected 1st or 2nd rounder. Jordan Lake, Safety: arguably the best safety, and ranked the hardest hitter by opposing players at the Big 12 media days. Also will be drafted next year, however not as high as Pawelek. I've never been more confident about Baylor's defense. That said, our D still won't be ranked high due to our offensive power. Teams always find a way to score when you have high powered offenses (Tech, OSU, an now Baylor)

Baylor didn't lose to a team with a losing record. In fact they CRUSHED every team they played with a losing record. That's why ISU doesn't have hype. Nearly beating an 11-2 Texas Tech team, a 8-4 Connecticut team, and a 10-4 Missouri team = legitimate hype.

Cy......... Baylor is, and always will be, the biggest loser in the Big 12. The school is too socially conservative and will never be a serious threat. And, if top notch players in Texas have an option for Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma or Texas A&M they take that 99 times out of a 100. Bottom line: Baylor is still the last ditch, last resort, last option for marginal recruits. Furthermore: Baylor sucks and there is nothing going on now that'll change that....F&%$ the Baylor QB and anyone who loves his trash talking a**. Well, I'm back for those that remember me from a couple months ago barking about Baylor and our improvement. I expected these comments out of Cy and HuskerJen. You both sound like Aggies. I appreciate the respect from most everyone else on this board. The hype in my opinion is about 90% accurate. As a Baylor fan, I haven't expected to go to bowl game in my lifetime as a fan (started following in 1998). This year I FULLY expect a winning a season and then some. Baylor has every bit as much of a reason to be optimistic this year as Nebraska does. You can say you were 4-8 blah, blah, blah CY. We were 2 PLAYS from a bowl game....and playing in the Big 12 South. Of course, Baylor doesn't have near the talent of OU or Texas, and one of them will likely be Big 12 champs once again. But we do have the developed talent that is comparable to Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, and Texas Tech this year. We have nearly the same schedule as last year, and aside from Texas, OU and Nebraska...every single one of our opponents have a drop off in talent from the year before. Good luck to both our programs this year!....I have a feeling both Nebraska and Baylor are going to make a lot more noise than we have in the past decade.

I've already posted too many times about Lee on this thread, however, my friends that went to the spring game in Lincoln would agree with you about Lee's upside. We'll find what we're all made of as the season unfolds. Should be a good season for both of us!

Kansas: Oline is a question no doubt. But I don't doubt the amount of points they'll score. Passing game will be as stout as ever. The rushing game will be the key to them finishing either 1st or 2nd in the North. As for defense, it's not the Big 12's best, but have you ever heard of Darrell Stuckey? I have to question where you are getting your info from! I agree about your issue with Cy's assessment of Baylor, but come on after that comment it is like the pot calling well you know what I mean. NU returns 3 starters on the Oline, 1 at WR, 1 at TE, and 1 at IB (you may think Marlon Lucky was the starter but fact is the last third of the season Helu was the starter). New starters are 2 WR, 2 Olinemen (RG and RT, though Jones at RT got starts last year), and QB. The Oline should be very good and the IB's are very good, Castille could be a starter on most teams but is the back up to Helu. NU will have a good ground game as Cy mentioned and this will lead to a very good O overall. Lee has a lot of talent (big time arm and really really fast, ok not as fast RGIII) and a good to great ground game will ensure success in the passing game. I was off on that one.....There are 4 returning starters on offense according to all the preseason mag's (just corrected it). I know there are some players with experience that you can add to that list too, but not considered returning starters. Nebraska has a great shot at winning the North. I just think your defense will be winning you games more than Zac Lee will be throwing game winning TD's. You're O-line shouldn't miss a beat either with 3 returning. I just don't think teams are trembling at the thought of Nebraskas potent offense. They are going to be trembling at the thought of that stingy defense though....IMO.

Bear, are there any good Baylor boards out there? I always like frequenting other team's boards to get the different perceptions. Baylorfans.com is our only good board. Most are very inviting fans over there...but beware, there are about 4 or so uninviting ones that absolutely live on that board. However, most posters are die hard Baylor fans, and have respect for husker fans. It's widely known that most husker fans are respectful to visiting teams at tailgates, etc, and many on that board have been to Lincoln to experience it. There's always exceptions to every fan base including Nebraska, and that exception has to be my best friend's girlfriend. She's the worst, and she can't name one person on the 2009 roster. You gotta love the enthusiasm though.

Thanks to everyone for tolerating us. The next few months are the most boring time and sports, and this definitely keeps things interesting. This should be one of the more exciting years of football for Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, and Baylor in my opinion. I live in Denver now, and have met more KU and Husker fans here than in my entire life, which naturally led me to this board. This helps keep me up to speed before the weekend when we all fight about who's winning what games during happy hour.
