  1. Without these coaches we would not have the players. In the end it takes both. But most of all it takes time to find out what you truly have. I think we will have a pretty good idea by the end of this year if FF is right.

No FF mediocrity was shown the door. What we have is unknown. A couple of years from now we will know if we have a winner or loser, until then you only have your thoughts and we have ours. Your thoughts are not endorsed by most of the top players and coaches fromt he past. You need to deal with that. We need to play the games and see where we land. Until then all is just a guess. I hope you are wrong, and I would guess you hope you are to.
  3. I really do not know the number of different teams that have won the MNC or the BCS NC. But very few ever win a NC of any kind. We have been forunate to have won the number we have. Will Nebraska ever win another one, I have no idea. Will Nebraska return to being a player in the NC hunt is another question. The chances of winning are slim no matter who you are. I would say SC has a chance this year of doing something no other team in recent history has been able to do. After this run by SC, I doubt we will ever see back to back champions again. Pairity is here, the goal will to be considered a possiblity. There are at least 10 teams that have that ability now. We are not one of those teams, but we really have not been one since TO left. I will give FF the fact that our 10-3 season was better than our 5-6. The coaching was better on defense, but woefully worse on offense. The future was gone with the past staff, I do not know if their is one with this staff, but I truly believe there is. Some times you can not see the forest for the trees. Wins against Baylor, Oklahoma State, Southern Miss are wins we should not consider major accomplishments. Losses to KState, Texas and Missouri are what hurt. We were never going to win those games again with the past staff. You have to play those games now to know if this staff can win them. Many here think Pelini was a god, go to the Oklahoma board and find out what they think of him. There are people over there that are happier about his departurer than most here about Franks firing. His wins were all with mirrors. He could not defend a descent team, nor could he at Oklahoma. We will see how LSU does this year. ' There is way too much luck in winning a NC. To say we will ever win another one is on par with saying you are going to win the lottery in my mind. Odds are a little better but not enough to bet a whole lot of money on. I think in a couple of years we will be a player in the hunt, and if we are I will be very happy with Nebraska football. Winning a NC is not something that concerns me at this time.

We will not turn USC red. Way more fans than UCLA and they are pretty devoted for Californians. Plus coming off a likely 3peat, I doubt there will be many getting off the bandwagon. It will be a big game for them, as we seem to draw a lot of attention in California. There are a lot of us out here. I am looking forward to that game. We should be competitive by then. At this time I would give the nod to SC, but that is a long time from now. Could be totally different in a year.
  5. It appears ND is having a very good year so far. Super Bowl coaches draw attention. I look for ND to start a major turn around in the next year.
  6. Quite a few are here. Lucky, Roark and few others. Most of the JUCO's are here I think.
  7. Someone on another board said they saw him this week and his bad leg is about half the size of the good one. Limping very badly and way down on weight. I doubt we see him this year. I hope we see him next year, but I have my doubts. Compound fractures are tough to deal with not only on the physical side but some never recover mentally after one. Either way thank you Matt for all you have given this program.
  8. I am a booster of the team, spend considerable on the team, and in honesty the tunnel walk music has never been mentioned by any of my friends or at any of the parties that I have attended. Most just want to win, most could care less if it is WCO, single wing or power. WE just want to win. I doubt there would be one single word about it, unless they are just looking for a reason to bash the program. In 25 years of donating to the University, I have only met one person that was negative about everything. He died a few years back. Now some of the players that are involved financially with the University that might be a different deal. But in honesty it has never come up in any conversations I have been privy to.
  9. I have a Long haired minature Dachshund, her name is Tilly, she hates bugs. We nicknamed her the Little RED Bugeater!!!! Friggen dog is hilarious.
  10. I have no problem with a change, if the change is an upgrade. Moving forward is not necessarily losing tradition. The idea is the tunnel walk, not so much the music played. I have no idea of what would be an adequate replacement, but what the youth of today listen to, other than some rap crap, I could endorse. I know I am old but I just cannot handle that stuff. Like the beat, but oh well you get the drift. No matter your age or your knowledge you can always learn and improve, if you fail to try pretty much everything is over. We have evolved from Golden Knights, Bugeaters, Cornhuskers, Huskers and we still seem to be the same. Changing music is not that big of deal if we replace it with a more modern version. But then again I have no problem with what we have either.
  11. Both Wagner and BC are proven line coaches. That is why I have a little less concern about them not taking to many linemen. As stated I noticed a decline the year Tom left. Not so much in what we got, but who would not even look at us. 1997 Michigan had over 50 of the top 100 on Rivals looking at them. We had 4. We got zero of the top 100, Michigan got 14.. That is when my concern started. It is far better to take a chance with a 5 star than taking the same chance with a 3 star. Most likely the 5 star will pan out, of course some fail no question. But the chances are the proven track record will continue on both sides. The reason for this in my opinion is we were running the option, most wanted nothing to do with it then. The ironic thing wit the option you need good linemen and top running backs. Not one listed Nebraska. Has to be some reason. With this offense we seem to be getting the interest. I doubt any are coming for the coaching, allthough I am sure it helps, and none are coming because of the history and tradition, after the fact yes. But not the reason for signing. They want ot make it to the big dance and the ticket in their eyes is here.
  12. I have been very concerned about our talent level since starting to follow recruting on Rivals in 1996. No matter the ability of this staff on the field, they have brought more ranked talent to this program than any other staff and that includes the legend. If they can coach half as well as they recruit we will be okay. If they can not, the new coach will not have the excuse of a bare cupboard. I would rather see some top Olinemen and Dlinemen coming in though. But I guess if your main talent is Oline coaching you have the ability to see it a little better than the rest of us. Both BC and Wags are considered two of the best and if they feel comfortable with what we have, who am I to question.
  13. Info on Holt Los Angeles combine 6' 3.5" 212 40 yard 4.73 shuttle 4.44 vert 31" 3 cone 7.50 Broad jump 8'10" Richard Jackson of Florida is being pursued by quite a few top programs. His results Tampa Combine 6' 2" 194 40 yard 4.81 shuttle 4.52 vert 25.5 3 cone 7.37 Broad jump 7' 9" Richard supposedly has quite a few offers. Weis is really after him hard. It looks like Holt is a better specimen though.
  14. Most feel Freeman is to big to play quarterback. He measuered in at 6'6.5" Not many pro QB's have ever made a start at that height. He is still growing. Rivals does not consider his future as a QB. Nebraska recruited him as a QB and will get his shot. Holt is suppose to be very good. From the San Diego area. I will try to get some more information on him.
  15. We got Freeman and Holt today. Check out Rivals.
  16. FF, I have been competitive for as long as I can remember. But mountain biking is a great sport. A good mountain bike and a couple of rides in the local park a week will change your whole out look on life. My wife rides a couple of times a month. Sometimes once a week. Doing that she can still go to Utah and do some of the hardest trails. It does not take much to get back in shape on a bicycle. Much easier than running. It does not hurt anywhere near as bad, except on your butt for the first few rides. The key is to get a good one. They do not have good bikes at Wallmart. Go to a good Bike shop or the Internet. Any Brand name bike with LX components is good enough to start on. My first bike cost just a little over 500.00 about 15 years ago. I thought that was the dumbest thing I ever did. Now mine is worth well over 5000.00 retail, and am thinking about moving up again. The better the bike the easier the ride. Of course I ride close to 1000 miles a month so I am not your average rider. But it clears my head and keeps me in great shape. Fresh air, birds, an occasional 20 year old female jogger or rider, makes the day go by a lot easier. lol. Quiet, serene, you see things you never see driving. But going to the mountains and doing it is paradise. The beauty of this earth, the wildlife and the flowers that normally you take for granted driving by become part of your life. Makes your time here better. You need to fight age with every ounce you can muster, because you only have so much time. Use it wisely, it is never time to give up.
  17. Thanks Blackshirt, I really like this site, there are some very good fans on here. I include FF in that even though I do not see eye to eye on everything with him. I do believe he loves this program, just as the rest of us do. He sees things just a little different than most. It is the resonsibility of the staff to make his vision better. That being said, it is his responsibility to look for improvement. I think if I hear from him that he is willing to look and hope for improvement my thoughts of him will be much higher. As fans though we should look for those same improvements and if they are not there, then we need to be concerned. I have seen enough to think we are headed in the right direction. Two years from now I may have second thoughts. Who knows.
  18. Well with age comes knowledge I guess. Now that a major joke if I have ever heard one. I turned 58 today. Still feel like I was 21 but know it is not true. I celebrated by doing a 40 mile bike ride with 200 pushups, and jogging 3 miles. I amazed myself by doing the 3 miles in just over 24 minutes. But I have been training for Worlds, so things seem to be moving in the right direction. Enough on the bull side. We all love this program. And I tend to get a little defensive about it. Say some things I should not. I have been a fan of this program for nearly 50 years. I am what is considered a booster. I put alot of money into the program, so I do get some information that is not normally around. I, like FF and many others have questions about this program. But I tend to think BC is the right answer. I have many friends who are really big buck boosters that I have met over the years. Every one of them that has met Bill seem to think he is great. There are very few that do not endores him. These are pretty savy business men who know talent and character. I will have the opportunity this fall to set down with BC. I am very excited about it. I know that BC battled many problems with in the team last year. I hope those problems are cleared up and the team moves ahead as a team. It truly was not a team last year. Way too many wars and battles with in. From what I am hearing things are a lot better. We should see another dose of improvent when the new kids get here. They will have no knowledge of the past and that should help. There will be no "Well we did it this way last year coming from them" . That should help in overall team moral. I look for a pretty good year, I am still very concerned about depth. That for me is the number one concern.
  19. Next year we will have one of the toughest schedules in college football. We do not need anything but a cupcake. We could easily lose 4-5 games next year with a top 20 team as our 12th game. This team needs to grow, we need at least another two years of recruiting like last year to even get near a level playing field with the top programs. We are 4 years behind most of the top 15 schools. One year will not do it. Some need to get over this WE ARE NEBRASKA, IT IS OUR RIGHT TO WIN!!!!!. Step by step back to the top. Long trip guys.
  20. I like the idea of flying under the radar. And I agree we do not deserve respect at this time. I have no problem with their selection. But that is why we play the games. I think we have a shot at the North. But we will have some very tough games. I only see Baylor and Maine as for sure wins. The rest could go either way. If our QB plays like he showed in the spring game in real game situations then we will be much better. Still have no real idea of how good he is or where the team is at. After Pitt we will have a real idea.
  21. I think we all need to calm down a little. I think we are all Nebraska fans. All want the same thing. I understand the frustration that FF feels. I to question the coments by Tenipor. He was fired in a round about way. He may have an ax to grind. McBride the same is true I guess. But these are two pretty devout Husker coaches. I doubt they would lie and ruin their good names if they did not feel pretty close to what they are saying. But I do take their coments with a grain of salt. I have always been a Frank fan. But Frank was not from Nebraska, nor was Devaney. I do not think you have to be from Nebraska to understand the situation. I think BC is guilty of using some wording that leads to the belief he is not really into it. But listening to him when he talks about Nebraska I get the feeling he is here to stay. That of course is if he wins. Some are already predicting an immediate return to domination. This is only fuel for the fans like FF. He does not feel it will happen that quickly, and I must agree with him. It will take time for this staff to win over some fans. It will take time for them to win over some of the players. This did not happen last year. For what ever reason. They have had a year together now. We will see how much better it is this fall. But there are major question marks out there. I do believe some of the comments about lack of talent. I felt this way for many years and I started to see it happening while TO was here. I see a change in the quality of athlete coming to Nebraska. I think this is the right approach. But we are a good 4 classes behind the top programs. This one class will not put us in the top 10 of college football. We will at best this year break into the top 20. If BC gets us there, I will hope that FF and some others give him the benefit of the doubt. Nebraska needs everyone of its fans NOW. I hope this year is the start of the healing process.
  22. I heard we won the Conference and Tournament championship in Baseball. Seems we are moving in the right direction.
  23. I was thinking just the opposite.
