  1. Personally I would rather there was no such section. There are plenty of sites you can go to that that is their main objective. Not a needed area as far as I am concerned. Your board, but I know BHF did away with theirs due to it boiling over into other forums. We do not need Jim Rome clones on here as far as I am concerned.
  2. I read it that the staff was very impressed with Taylor, and Joe showed improvement. To me that says starter easily, and way down the list for Joe. I just do not see Beck starting until mid season if at all. He just does not know the offense nor does he know the tendacies of the recievers. Too much to learn in a very short time. Taylor will be the starter, Ganz or Adams 2nd and 3rd, and Joe moving around well with the clip board. Beck will see action if Taylor is hurt early in the year. I do not think he Redshirts though. He will practice and maybe late in the year see the playing field setting up competition for next year. I think it is Taylor's to lose.
  3. Taylor looks to be a bigger stronger athlete than Joe. Joe had a history of being hurt and I think that played into the green shirt and over protection.
  4. I just did a little research on the Lizfranc fracture. If the injury does not require surgery, return is possible in 4 months. With surgery, normally insertion of screws to keep the metacarpals in place the recovery period is much longer. Anywhere from 10 to 12 months, and there is question about that. Some never recover I guess. It sounds like Donald has to have surgery, if so I would say his career at Nebraska is over. Sad situation.
  5. I read on another board that Defrand should be back by Fall, I think that was from Callahan. Brandon Jackson's injury was not discussed. All I know is it is a shoulder problem.
  6. I think we saw the value of the green jersey last year. Some felt after the spring game that JD was the man. You need to practice at game speed and you need to make decessions at game speed. He never did it at anytime last spring or the year before. (I do not consider mop action against tired or 3rd and 4th string players quality learning time). If we get one hurt so be it. Having them prepared to do the job is better than learning how not to do the job. We have enough QB's in house the job will get done this year. More injuries happen trying not to get hurt than playing at ease IMHO. Perfect practice makes perfect, lame ass practice makes what we had last year. I am glad they are gone. I am sure the staff will do what is best to protect the QB's, but you need to play the game.
  7. Heres a first, I totally agree with schestev.
  8. Norvell made the comment he does not want the QB's to think they are invinceable. We are going to see them taking alot of hist this spring. It is needed.
  9. No green Jerseys this spring. We need that to see where we really are at the end of practice. I hated it last year as it gave us a false sense of hope on the QB spot. I hope the spring game is a real game in hitting and allowing the defense to play. I think things are changing. Let's all hope for the best.
  10. Eric, Thanks for the information. It sounds like the coaches are getting things together. I can not imagine how tough it was to walk in here last January and try to make things right. Not bagging on the previous staff. It just had to be a major life adjustment for all involved. Uprooting, moving, leaving family at home, finding housing, learning the weather, meeting all the new staff, trying to identify with the kids, overcoming the problems with the former staff members(Pelini). This was not an easy deal for any involved. I know that is coaching but this is a different place, with a lot more expectations than most have faced. I am glad they seem to be trying anything and everything to right the ship.
  11. I would bet a months pay that all that booed were not good enough to hold his jock when they played, or if they ever played the game. I would imagine we have a (F)ew (F)ans on here that have joined the chorus. We could not afford any more turnovers. His job was to catch the punt period and protect the ball. I think things will be a little different this year.
  12. Unfortunately Bernard it has been missing for about 3 years prior to BC getting here. We ran the ball more effectively this year than we did in 2003 and 2002. 2001 was the Eric show, I think Ross is the first or second back to get 1000 yards since 97. Admit you hate the WCO and BC, it would make no difference if he started winning. Now go out and turn up the wick in the lantern, crank up the phone so it will ready when you come in from the out house. Don't forget to feed the mule so you will be able to ride to work tomarrow. You certainly do not want anything new.
  13. Irish, I have no inside info on the coaching staff at this time. I did know about the change in DB coaching but only 1 day prior. No, I think there needed to be a major change at Nebraska to get the recruiting going, to get back to the top. I think bringing the WCO, not so much Callahan is what opened the recruiting flood gates. We were not able to recruit top level atheletes during TO's last year. Michigan took many top kids that year and we were not considered by most. There is a reason, but I have never quite figured it out. I have my ideas, and they mostly gravitate towards the dislike of the option. In honesty though this is a pretty good staff, they have alot of experience no question. I think Elmo was the least favorable coach selected and not because of his a bility but his personality. He did not hit it off well, and this opened the door for Pelini to continue communication with some of our players. His comments stirred the pot and made things alot worse. He hates Pederson, and I can understand that but he has done somethings that may have him in some hot water down the road. Taking over a program like Nebraska, after a major firing could not be an easy job for any one. Coz who has been at Wisconsin for quite awhile was even surprised by the fan dedication and loyalty, and most of all expectations. I do not think BC had a clue of what it was going to be like. Nebraska football is a horse of different color. It is our life for most fans. Not quite the same anywhere else.
  14. The talent and depth is the question. In skill positions in honesty there was very little left and or recruited by the previous staff. Jimmy and Joe went elsewhere under Frank. Mostly because they were never invited to come here. You could see the speed problem in 2001 and it only got worse. I think BC will get us back, but if he does not there should be no excuse of not having talent for who ever might follow him. He walked into a very bad situation and is doing the best he can. Who knows if it will be good enough but he sure gets my vote to be given the time it takes. He we 5-6, in 2002 if not for a couple of real cupcakes Frank would have gone 5-7. Look at things how they are, not how you wanted them to be. There were major problems for a long time prior to Frank being let go.
  15. Same. I must admit I was a big Pelini fan the year he was here. But his biggest accomplishment was Super D. I can not remember a defensive player I have enjoyed watching more than Demarrio. I hate pro football, but always try to catch the Falcon games just to see him play. That said, I am not a Pelini fan anymore. Totally support this staff and feel we are on the road to recovery. Mr. Pelini caused many problems for this program this year and I think that will come out down the road. I am very happy that he was not selected now, at the time I was wanting him to be our new HC. But Steve knew what was qoing on and made the best selection for Nebraska. I am not a Pederson fan, but I do feel he is doing the best he can for this program.
  16. Not quite, we lost the heart and sole of the defense, what was left were a few malcontents, thank god gone, and Rudd. No speed and no pass rush. Wonder why we floundered around.
  17. Joe played well in 2003. Just when was that? He never faced a fresh 1st team, he never played when the game was on the line. He never faced a top team at anytime. He got hurt nearly every time he was on the field. He would not have been able to run the option offense or the QB dive offense, he did not have the skills last year to run this offense. I am hoping he has developed them, but if you really think he was good in 2003 why didn't Frank play him? He had many problems with fumbling in the prior offense during practice. You beat on Callahan for not doing this and not doing that, but he was protecting a china doll that had to run the offense. There were no choices on options. And I agree, if Joe is the answer this year we have some real problems. Hopefully he has improved, because I really like the kid, but if he is our starter come fall look for the same type of season we had last year. He may know the plays but he can not hit an open receiver and that does not change. He has been playing for at least 12 years, if it ain't here now it's not going to be.
  18. Those three games were where the OC made Demarrio a non factor. Our defense in 2003 was all Demarrio. He made Bullocks and Washington's job a lot easier. I truly believe he was one of the very best to ever play here. I am very happy that Pelini realized just how important of an impact he would make.
  19. Diehard, I apologize for stirring the pot. I have decided not to respond any further, hopefully he will have a change of heart when and if the coaching staff succeeds. I have faith they will and a lot of this negative stuff will go away. I just do not understand if you are a former fan why you would want to be on a site that promotes a positive outlook. It is sad to be so negative, unfortunately there are quite a few on all the boards. Not by any means the majority, just enough to be a pain in the bu__.
  20. FF, Go to BHF.com and read my posts. Check to see if they were not posted days, weeks and even months before they happened. I posted last April that the chances of Ingognito seeing the field were nill. In late August I posted he would never play another down at Nebraska. I posted prior to Washington and Bullocks announcing that they would be leaving and for what reasons. You know Jack. And as ususal you do not understand that this is a team, there are no outsiders. BC nor Pederson destroyed this program, Frank did period. He ran it into the ground and had no idea of how to fix it. 7-7 and that should have been 5-7 if Byrne had not added the cupcakes. 10-3, lost (not only lost by were embarrased)every game against a quality opponent, and had the worst offense in the history of Nebraska. Yea we were on our way back. Left us with absolutely no talent to run any offense. You keep looking through those Frankie glasses. He still has not learned that recruiting is the life blood to college football, he would rather play in Hawaii than do his job at Ohio. 112, he still does not get it and never did.
  21. Did you do your research there Former Fan or are you just running your mouth like ususal. I doubt you have the ability to do anything on your own. Do you know anything about the team, if you do I have yet to see it. He gave Stoops the talent to win, which he has not been able to do with his own. People normally attack what they do not understand. Again do the research and you will find out who knows and who does not. Ask Pillen if he thinks I have true inside information. Ask Pillen if he does, his father and uncle both played at Nebraska, but I am sure you did not know that. All you know is how to run your mouth and bad mouth the program, and the team. Go away you are not welcome nor are you wanted here. I will not longer respond to your garbage. Take all your cute little pictures and crayons and move on to the Bobcat board and follow Frank's storied career there.
  22. I suggest you tell them that. You are a big talker. I am sure they would revel in your company being the devout nonfan you are.
  23. And then again he may feel he has the speed at LB to do it. You play with what you have. Our rush was poor and our LB's were slow. 03 had Super D that was enough to make it work. Some people just do not realize how importand and how devastating Super D was. Unfortunately when we played better teams they were able to double him and not concern themselves with the others. I would have loved to have seen him play on a 90's blackshirt team. I think he truly was one of the best to ever play at Nebraska if not the best. I think Octavian is in the same mode. We will see.
  24. And there is the slight possiblity that the coach has a little inside information as to what really happened. There are normally two sides to every story. I trust that BC will look into the Goodman deal and find out what really happened before he kicks a player off the team. Or he could be like Frank and have all his coaches tell him that Richie needed to go the year before and never pulled the trigger. We lost several players over the Richie term. One will never play again, guess you have to be Frank to make the only correct decessions at Nebraska, NOT. I would say that a coach that has been in the NFL, Super Bowl, a offensive line coach that has developed some of the best and worked with a lst pick in the draft, a defensive line coach that has a couple of Super Bowl rings should be able to judge talent. But of course of Bernard and Former don't think they are qualified to make those decessions I am sure they are not. Do you guys see the sun come up in the west or something?
  25. Put on your Bobcats hat and grab your Solich bobblehead doll and cower into the fetal position. That is hilarious DJ, could not have said it better if I tried a thousand times. Bernard is schestev from BHF board. He drags up garbage like this all the time. It is his life to rag on Pederson and BC. Sorry state but that is what he does on a lot of boards.
