  1. The sky is falling, the sky is falling, Frankie has left, what shall we do, what shall we do?
  2. He will have done far more than Tom Osborne did in his first 6 years. Plus playing at a much tougher time in college football. If any coach does what you have laid out he will not be fired. I would be very happy with a team that won 9-11 games a year, played in a BCS game on a regular basis and once every 10 years played for a NC. That is where college football is headed. SC may prove to be able to do the 3 pete this year, but that type of dominance will end with that team. Parity is here and it will be a lot of fun to watch.
  3. I agree Hunter, it is about seeing improvement on all sorts of things. I really could care less about wins or losses this year. I hope for the best, but if we are in every game, play respectable ball against the top teams we play and are not run I will be very happy. I see this as a 4 year time table. I look for us to battle for the Big 12 North this year. I think Colorado wins it again but I think we will show respectably.
  4. Hopefully the voice of Pelini will not be ringing in any of the defensive ears this year.
  5. FF, No excuses in 2002. I guess not Frank just fired half the staff. Now of course they were not fired for any failures ya think. You have yet to answer my questions. Just squawk and put down what others write, never bring anything but garbage as ususal.
  6. Well I was wondering if some one here could give me the break down of rocket fuel. I need to know the percentages of each component. I am sure most on here knows the answer because almost all on here no more about coaching and player development than the people hired to do the job. Do we have any rocket fuel fans here? Let the coaches do their jobs. If you knew more, you would have their jobs. Get a clue.
  7. Another spewing of garbage by our local garbage man. Thanks current idiot we needed all your information. NOT
  8. Run to pass, pass to run. Makes sense to me.
  9. Turk, One other thing that bothers me about the bashing of BC. He is a coach that has been at the highest level of coaching. He has done well in college and at the pro level. He has never had a problem getting a job. The man he replaced finally slipped into a job in Ohio. Comparing the two is useless. Both are good men in bad situations. You need to give BC the chance you seem to want everyone to give Frank. BC had no control over Frank being fired or his being hired. If you have issues direct them towards Pederson.
  10. Turk, You made the comment you can not be some on else. Callahan is Callahan and not Solich nor Osborne. In honesty do you feel if all had stayed the same on offense. Being, Frank gone and Callahan here to run the option we would have faired any better. I do not think Joe would have lasted through the Pitt game, then who. Do you honestly feel we would have succeeded with Frank here. We could not play with the big boys when we had the Heisman trophy winner. I do no think there was a team in the top 15 we could have beaten that year. We played no one but Oklahoma and they got trounced after we beat them. Oregon would have killed us. 2003 we could not play with a quality team. Recruiting started to fail before Tom left. The kids just did not want any part of the option. You can drag a horse to water but you can not make him drink. No one of real talent wanted to drink from our well. This is where it all went wrong and I think Tom knew what was going on. I have stated this before but go back to recruiting for 1998. We did not get one top line man nor a top running back after winning the National Championship. Tell me why. If you can answer that question you will answer why we have failed. Every other program that has won or shared the NC has had outstanding recruiting results the same year. We were not even on the radar for 95% of the top kids. The option will work if run properly, we had no one that had a clue how to do that. QB left and right as started being played with Crouch was not going to work and we could not recruit the kids to do the job. I doubt we will see only WCO from BC. He will realize that it needs some modification just as USC, Auburn, LSU have done. I just look for it to be a more balanced attack no matter the name.
  11. Way too early to even think about it. If we have major improvement in the spring game on both sides of the ball we should be a top 25 team. I doubt we will be ranked there for preseason ranking though. We have a tough schedule this year, I think much tougher than last years. If our QB situation is not improved we are in real trouble. We have two cupcakes in Maine and Baylor, the rest if we have not improved offensively will be shoot outs. I see a loss to Tech again, but not as bad. Oklahoma I think we win, but KState and Colorado will be losses if the offense is not on track by then. I have a real fear of Wake Forest, but will research them after their spring game also. We will not be competitive with the South champion. CCG if we get there is a loss at this time. I think we finish the year in the top 25, but near the bottom.
  12. Toad, Never a trurer word spoken.
  13. I think Baron had a little more talent around him than Rigoni did last year. I expect big things from him this year. I just love to watch this kid play. He is Husker to the bone. I hope they make a ST captain and he is it.
  14. It looks like this staff and the past one have tried to bring quality kids to the program, not just football playing thugs. I am afraid Spurrier has a real mess on his hands. Loosing many of his top kids (gangsters) and the group that will normally transfer upon a coach leaving. Say what you will about the past staff, they did bring in pretty good people. I think the new staff is looking to do the same.
  15. With the new NCAA requirements coming into effect, it is good to see the staff is working on providing the most and best help to keep their grades up. One of the worries a lot of people had about this staff was academic standards being lowered. I do not think that is going to happen. A sincere hats off to Mr. Jackson. He worked his butt off to get here and it appears he wants to stay. It is good to see some positive posts on Husker boards. Hell we could be in the situation that South Carolina is in.
  16. former fan, As ususal you only have part of the story. There was a small group of players that wanted to dictate the type of defense Nebraska was to play. They wanted to run the same defense that Pelini did, unfortunately they could not understand that EJ and Super D made the defense the year before, not them. They were the benefactors. Fabian and Josh were part of that group. They were told prior to the Colorado game to keep their mouths shut or hit the road. We have seen that they have moved on. You either are part of the program or you are not. They decided with the help of Pelini to not be part. There were many problems with the defense, they could have helped make it better but decided to do things differently. I give him the benefit of the doubt, but by no means was he a major player on the defense last year. I will say it was due to injury. I think you will hear more about this after the draft. You choose to believe that all was wonderful in Husker land. I choose reality. Anyone who watched the Colorado and Miami games could see how far the program had fallen in terms of speed and talent. Texas Tech was another lesson. In 2003 we could not have played a top 15 team and won. From penthouse to outhouse in 4 short years. Live in the past all you want, but it is the past and it will never come back.\ I understand why last year happened. Too many changes in too short of time. I feel sorry for the kids that went through all of this. They bought in under one coach and had the rug pulled out from under them and then again. Not easy to overcome those things. But what this program does not need is another change anytime soon. I have been a loyal fan for 54 years now. I have seen the ups and the downs, the fans wanting to fire Osborne, heck I was one of them. I did not want Frank fired, but have realized just how bad off we were. You need to move forward in life and so does a program. This program needs all to be pulling in the same direction, because if it goes down this time, I truly do not feel it will ever recover.
  17. Toad, I think there are two parts to the story, maybe even three. He was injured early in the year. He loved Pelini and did not buy into they system of the new coaches. He has had nothing but time to improve his physical situation at a world class training site. Money is on the table, and that opens eyes and brings on a lot of effort. I hope he makes good money and wish him luck, but I must say I am glad he is gone.
  18. Please list those traditions you feel have been thrown to the wayside. He admitted not having all warm up was and error and corrected. Did away with a running based offense that went out in the 90's. The main reason Tom Osborne left. Could no longer recruit with the big boys, check recruiting results for 1998, Osborne was still responsible. Left an inadequate coach to run the program. I am a big Frank fan but there were too many problems with this organization for him to ever succeed. Recruiting was the main fall down that put this program in the dump. Yes 9-3 is the dump if you only play 3 teams of quality. OSU would have kicked our butts up and down the field if played later in the year. MSU, what do you need to say about a lower level Big 11 school. Did you ever attend any of those losses. Did you see how totally outmatched we were. I saw the Colorado game and the Miami game. We looked like the school for the blind playing those game. Traditions were shattered long before Coach Callahan or Pederson(whom I have personally met and dislike) got here. But we were headed down and no, Barney ball was not going to stop it. Pelini made the coment that we did not have enough talent to be on the same field with his 3rd team. Barney made coments about talent levels also. I have no idea if Coach Callahan can save this program or not. But it is a measure to try to. Failure was in full swing the other way.
  19. The pride in being a loyal fan. Mark my words formerfan you will be eating those words and will slither back into the fold under a new alias. Run your mouth now as it will change and then you will have no where to spout your anti program crap.
  20. This looks like a schestev post to me. Could Bernard be located in Hastings? A student at Hastings College? If Dailey loses the starting role in Spring practice I doubt he will be a captain. Ross with out a doubt, Carriker is a good idea and some are very impressed with Shanle I hear. I would like to see Rigoni be a ST captain. I really like his fire.
  21. I do not think Joe moves. He is not physical enough to play defense. I think his days of playing at Nebraska are over. I hope not because he gave his all last year. I hope he gets a chance this spring and has developed, only time will tell.
  22. Eric, What goes around, comes around. Richie was responsible for several injuries to playes on the Nebraska team, and most were not accidental. Some left the program because of him and his actions. Teamer, the big smooth were some of his victums. I have no pitty for him in any way. He is getting what he deserves. I could care less if he ever plays another down of football. He was way more problems for this program than he could have ever been worth. He would have been gone the year before if Cotton would have had his way. Bad apple period. Sometimes you did get what you deserve.
  23. That and the fact that Pelini was still poisoning the water. Two of the problems are gone, there is still another here, we will see how that turns out.
  24. Armistead, I normally get a little inside information that I share with different boards. My sources have always proven to be correct and normally well before any one else gives the information. I have never heard a negative thing about Brandon. Other than he can barely walk at times. He went to the weight room and worked every part of his body but the injured area every day. He never sherked his responsiblities. He has given it his all from all that I have spoken to. He just does not see light at the end of the tunnel. One of his coments about a month ago was it will give the staff more time to help someone that can do the job. This has been a very tough thing for him to decide. It has been his life, but sometimes the cards just do not work out. We had quitters on the team, some are still there. A couple are testing this weekend. Your disdain should be pointed at the ones that have caused the problems and as far as I am hearing he is not one of them.
  25. Ross, Mann, Rigoni, Carriker I will bet a week of silence on Bullocks not being a captain. Any takers?
