  1. If you're implying that we won't be running the spread, then why get rid of Watson at all?
  2. Oh the horrors of what the new age of technology, with texting and tweeting has done to the english language. Nobody knows how to use correct grammar and punctuation anymore. You're absolutely right. You might want to stick a comma after "tweeting" and capitalize "english."
  3. The only real concern I have is the issue between loyalty and striving for the best. I don't pretend to know the answer, but while I love the fact that Pelini is fiercely loyal to his players and fellow staff members, I wonder if he's sacrificing the betterment of the program in doing so. Some are disappointed that he is not after the biggest names and the brightest rising stars for coaching positions, and I can understand that sentiment. However, it might be that Pelini genuinely thinks that Beck, for instance, is the best candidate for OC at Nebraska. It's just a matter of whether or not Bo is letting his loyalty and commitment get in the way of the program. As far as the defense goes, his once-no-name assistants have all put together one of the consistently best defenses in the nation the past few years. How much of that is Bo himself, I don't know, but it remains to be seen how this "no-name" offensive staff will function. If it fails to improve, I think his loyalty, however admirable, becomes an issue.
  4. http://huskerextra.com/sports/football/article_43305cea-1041-5d00-a56a-9ee16f15a395.html Anyone know anything about this guy?
  5. I thought we hadn't even been in contact with Phillips?
  6. Oregon could match us with money, but I don't see how they could match an offer of coaching. They don't need an OC - we do. They're not going to give Frost play-calling responsibility and equal power with whoever runs their offense, it's working far too well to change anything. If he really is offered a part of this offensive coordinator job, I don't see how he turns it down.
  7. That would definitely depend on what you view Christianity as being. Most evangelicals would likely counter that his additional reputation for it isn't additional at all, it's proper reputation for someone that actually lives it out. I don't know any of the coaches on the staff personally and would never dream of making any judgments about where they are or are not spiritually, all I know is that Jesus and Paul both taught that Christians would be known to the world by the fruit they produce, and I see Ron Brown producing good fruit, I haven't yet witnessed that with anyone else on the coaching staff. Like I said, that could very well be because I am only a fan with no connections or no perspective, and I really, really pray that that would be the case There's a big difference between being a Christian and a bible thumper. Believe whatever you want to believe, but don't be shoving your beliefs down my throat. Oh yeah, and if I'm ever near your pastor, tell him to stay away from my zipper. Organized religion is run by nothing but a bunch of tax ducking child molesters. I'll stop now. Yeah, every priest, rabbi, reverend, pastor, imam, and all the countless volunteers, organizers, planners, charity drivers, shelter workers, etc. etc. etc. are all child molesters. What a stupid f%&*ing statement that was. I guess because there are corrupt cops, crooked politicians and abusive fathers, all cops, politicians and fathers are bad too huh?
  8. I really don't see the big deal. Bo does not owe anyone an explanation about when he will hire or who he will hire. He's paid to coach football and clearly hates dealing with the media and the questions and I don't blame him. He does make himself look a bit foolish, but I think he's just plain bad in the spotlight. We're blowing this way out of proportion. Once we find out who the hires are this will be old news, we'll forget about it, and we'll all imagine how unstoppable our offense will be next year and how we'll take the first Big 10 Championship. I think Bo, like someone said, is just being extremely literal. Until someone's contract is up or it is "official," then no, there aren't staff openings. That's not how the question was intended, but that is how Bo is going to answer it. While he definitely has his flaws and could use a PR guy, he's a damn good football coach and I like to think he's a good person, despite his temper and lack of polish. He brings a lot of this on himself, but let's cut him some slack. At the end of the day the man is an old school, hardass, no-glitz-and-glamor football coach, and frankly I'll take that over some smooth-talking, greasy bastard like Slick Rick. He should definitely learn the phrase "no comment," but I really believe he's doing what he thinks is best for the football team and the program. He's not trying to deceive anyone, he just wants to handle business privately until everything is certain, which is how it should be. We're spoiled and demanding to think we should be entitled to every step in the decision-making process. Get real. And saying everyone is up-in-arms over this is taking it too far. This will all blow over the minute the new coaches are announced, guaranteed.
  9. That Jesusy stuff has helped us get recruits such as Aaron Green, and it has turned two enemies into best friends, Haag and Helu. If he can't coach, I say retain him as a team chaplain. Let's hear it for Coach Brown! Helu and Hagg used to hate each other? Explain that a little more.
  10. I'm well aware of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and his (as well as others) association with it. I'm just not that keen on it is all. The point everyone is making is that it really doesn't matter whether or not YOU are keen on it. Many good players recruited by Brown are, and losing that is a huge detriment to the team. You're basically saying Brown isn't a big loss because of his beliefs, which is not only bigoted but completely ill-founded. His beliefs, as many have stated, have helped secure us some awesome recruits. And more important, he's been a huge part of Nebraska football and a great role model/coach. You are undermining everything he's done by saying his loss isn't a big deal.
  11. Fully agree. Some people just like to bitch. This is a great coach and an even better person. Let's start showing him some respect.
  12. You might do without it, but I guarantee that that "Jesusy baggage" is a HUGE selling point to many recruits and their families. Aaron Green I remember mentioned that his faith was a huge part in his decision and he knew he'd grow in that respect by coming to Nebraska. And how about all those Southern boys and their families? If you don't think that's an advantage in getting some of those kids here you're out of your mind.
  13. I get the feeling he won't come here, Nebraska loyalty or not. He's in a pretty good position there and the offer would have to be very good for him to defect (OC). I would think that if he were ambitious he would want the chance to fix a horrible offense and even further cement his legacy. That would be a huge step toward rising through the coaching ranks.
  14. The only way I see him coming here is if he's Offensive Coordinator. No way he makes a lateral move. Get him here and put him in position to succeed Bo if he ever leaves. This guy is one hell of a recruiter and is rising rapidly through the ranks. Snag him before someone else does.
  15. The more I hear about him the more I want him back here. He seems to be a great football mind and appears to have a ton of promise/potential. Get him here now and get him set up in case Bo ever takes another job. His recruiting ability alone is impressive.
  16. Send a message to the kids... The old neighborhood... Sounds like declarations of loyalty to the home team to me.
  17. I hate to say it, but anyone stupid enough to sign with Dick Neuheisel right now is probably someone we don't want. Maybe they can all float down a river together and sing about rainbows.
  18. Any guesses whether this kid stays or jumps ship to Auburn?
  19. Rivals said Pelini is after a new target from Florida. Anyone know who it is?
  20. Rivals update.. anyone know what he's thinking?
  21. dang it! you beat me to it! I even got the edit in with the fancy red N too. I'm glad we got this guy.
  22. Here's the rest: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/Postmortem-Nebraska-s-offense-comes-full-circle?urn=ncaaf-309316
  23. "I love the cold weather. It was [10 below zero] and I was loving it. That cold weather fits my style, the way I dress and my personality. It felt awesome." I want this kid from that quote alone. Finally someone with a sack. Sign this kid up.
