  1. It wouldn't be so funny if it wasn't true. I heard on the radio the other day Lance is not going to retire. He's going to compete next next season.
  2. This concerned me as well. Leon seems to be one of the best players in this last recruiting class. I can't see Callahan redshirting him. So why not play him againt what could be our weakest opponent?
  3. Lucky certainly is our future. I actually would like to see Ross catch a few more passes this season. We are very deep at running back. Callahan can utilize this to our advantage.
  4. Callahan will get better at play calling. I can see trying to throw it in once. But with our stable of backs a ball on the two needs to be punched in. We were fortunate this wasn't a close game. Between the fumbles, interceptions and lost opportunities in the red zone we could have easily lost. I quess Callahan still has his mind in the pros, pro-style offense and all.

    QB debate

I say we should have put in Beck. Late in the game it seemed Taylor was flustered. He needed a break. The game wasn't on the line and leaving Taylor in can only result in more mistakes.
  6. I can't see how we can make any real judgements about our offense at this point. We had three receivers out. We lost a starter on the offensive line a little over a week before kickoff. And we are starting a new QB. With all the turnovers we have to at least consider that first game jitters came into play. I know we all saw some things that needed improvement, but we saw a lot of positive things also. Look at special teams. Nunn did a great job. He nailed 135 total yards on kick returns. Jordon did a great job kicking. If it carries over special teams will be a huge strong point. And how about Hardy? Seven receptions for 152 yards! We'll know more next week. A lot more.
  7. Fox is airing the game now. It's almost the end of the first half.
  8. Clearly there are areas where improvement is needed. But this is only the first game. We also lost a starter on the offensive line a little over a week ago and we had three receivers (not including Herian) out due to minor injuries. Flu, Brooks and LeFlore should all be back against Wake. I saw a lot of things I liked. Nunn returning punts. Jordon's going to be a great kicker. In fact special teams couldn't have improved much more than they did. Even Taylor at QB. He looked fairly sharp durning the first half but seemed pretty flustered as the game winded down. But all considered he showed a lot of potential. He made some mistakes but consider the pressure he was under. He will get better. We had a lot of dropped passes. We had a lot of fumbles as well. But if Callahan can correct these mistakes our offense will look a lot better. One area of concern is our offensive line. It needs to mature fast. With our running backs we should have been running for six or eight yards a carry. We also need to find a way to get our backup QB's in the game. Beck especially. He's going to be a great QB but he needs experience. It's hard to put your backup QB in when you are fighting just to win the game. I'm with holding judgement on our defense. We played a great game but remember, it was Maine. Our front seven did a great job. The sacks were great. Let's hope they can do it next week. I'm not sure either about our defensive backs. It seems they gave up a lot more than they should have. And what happened to The Leon and Bowman? I expected to hear their names a lot.
  9. We really need this kid. Too many of our receivers have bit it already. Has he practiced yet? I heard he showed up for practice yesterday but was in street cloths.
  10. How do you light up a blonde woman's eyes? Shine a flashlight in her ear.
  11. Well, it's starting to sound like this kid will be catching more than a few balls from the db position.
  12. I can't wait to see Bowman. He's going to be an animal.
  13. Dillard seems to be the real deal. Our defense should be a lot better than it was last season.
  14. No this is the first I've heard of this. Do you have a name?
  15. J.B. Phillips seems to be the top TE at the moment. A little shorter than Matt but weighs a bit more. TE is definately a concern at this point.
  16. Yes, but it should also be used to countdown the days until major events like signing day, the start of spring camp, ete..
  17. 55 - 10 Nebraska Beck plays the second half and has incredible 4th quarter stats.
  18. One thing I noticed was Wake Forest only won four games last season and lost seven. But six of the seven losses were by seven points or less. The deacons could have very easily gone bowling. Even so I think we will have this game in hand by half-time. The team we field will be a lot better than last years version of the huskers. Taylor will make all the difference. With a balanced offense we should be able to move the ball through the air. The deacons lost McGruder, King, and Braxton. If Taylor is half as accurate as he is reported to be he'll probably be picking on their cornerbacks all game. Nebraska 35 Deacons 14
  19. Sorry guys, I wasn't paying close enough attention. I thought we were talking about the Maine game.
  20. This game will be a pretty easy win. Maine gave up over 400 yards per game last season. And they play in a lower division. Sure they beat Mississippi State last season, at Starkville for their first division 1A win ever, but they only won by 2 points against a team that went 3 - 8 last year. Mississippi State only scored an average 15.7 points per game last season. http://goblackbears.collegesports.com/spor...5/teamcume.html This should be an easy win. Beck should see some action by the early third quarter at the latest.
  21. I'd love to see Ross get over 1500 yards but do you think he will be able to get the carries? With Lucky and Leon pushing him Callahan may want to keep a fresh pair of legs in the game at all times. I expect Cory's overall yardage on the ground to go down but his ypc to go up. At least it should behind our improved offensive line.
  22. Well I guess we'll find out in a little over a month. Actually I think Beck might win the job outright before the season is over. But right now Taylor certainly has the edge. He has been here longer and has had the chance to go through spring ball. Even though beck probably has a playbook that experience Taylor has will be tough to overcome. But as talented as Taylor is, if Beck does win the starting QB job then that just speaks to the talent level we now have.
