  1. After KU's TD to take the lead, I thought it was over. BUT WATSON FINALLY PULLED HIS HEAD OUTTA HIS ARSE!!! However, that doesn't absolve him of past sins where he called such a sh**ty game that NU lost. I'm also VERY happy for Zac Lee...he played his best game of the year today. Good kid, didn't get his head down when he got demoted, just worked harder and won his job back. He still holds it too long, and throws behind recievers, but he did MUCH better today. Oh...and Helu ain't too damn bad either...thank the Good Lord above Watson finally...well, see above.
  2. If the fumble was Helu's fault, then why was Bo ripping Lee instead? Hmmmmm....the pitch should have been caught, but it was certainly NOT a good pitch. Why the hell is Watson running an option with Lee anyway? WTF???!!!! D is exhausted. They need some help...but I'm afraid the O won't.
  3. Yep that's him. He's a former student of mine, and I keep up with him. I spoke with Aaron Kearney, and now NU is interested...don't know why, because Logan sent them stuff last year. They apparently didn't look at him until they found out the current group of recievers sucks. At any rate, Logan sent them more stuff and we'll see what happens. He's definately interested in them, and I think he'd make a great addition to NU.
  4. TOTALLY agree...has replaced Must See TV on NBC as the best night on TV. No the guys weren't wearing red, but they had NU stuff on. And they were intense...just like NU fans are when NU plays OU. Great show. Great plug for NU.
  5. Saw this on another board, and I thought it was very insightful: Watson may not have turned into a moron in one season, but he is stubborn and arrogant. For example, there were a lot of things I didn't like about the offense last season. A lot of people were calling for the changes Watson finally made after the Missouri (in 2007) game long before he implemented them last season. He insisted on starting Lucky long after it was clear Helu was the best back. Some of his comments in the media this season have been contradictory and/or outright untrue: that time in a system doesn't matter unless it's in games - and then later going with Lee because of his practice performance. Huh? He also refused to play Green last week for a single play, described Lee's management of the offense as "perfect" and then a week later yanked him for Green. Either Lee's performance wasn't "perfect" or Green won the job in practice...which Watson last week was telling us wasn't that important. These are the contradictions of a coach not sure of himself and trying to talk his way out of it. Further, he refuses to call zone reads for Green even though he continually called them for Lee. He has stubbornly called outside zone for two years, even though it never works, and has far too many formation tendencies that casual fans pick up on (so you can bet d-coordinators do). Watson is also a very poor play caller near his own goal line. Think about how many pick-six's (or turnovers that led to turnovers/safeties) his offense has given up since the beginning of 2007 (VaTech, Missouri, Oklahoma, Clemson, etc, etc). He stubbornly insists on calling horizontal routes that risk interception returns for 5-yard gains and is far too quick to give up on the run or rely on the pass. If Watson's offense can only succeed with a 5th year senior QB and two 5th-year senior receivers, than his offense is worthless because having all three of those elements is rare. Just about any offense will find success with those variables...show me an offense that succeeds when hampered by injuries or inexperience...THAT is good offense. For example, Cincinatti has been forced to play five QBs in the last two seasons due to injury...and Brian Kelly's offense continues to thrive. Texas Tech was forced to start a kid making his 2nd start in Lincoln and he did okay...and then Leach's offense was good enough to put 42 on Kansas after they lost the *2nd* string QB and was forced to start the 3rd stringer. For that matter, Iowa State was forced to start two backup freshmen in Lincoln at QB and RB and managed to escape with a win. Those are examples of coaching. Watson needs to leave; an offense that only succeeds with 5th-year senior starters is worthless. Still, I think Nebraska can salvage this season if Watson can just improve the offense to "average"...I think they'll eventually get it done. And then he needs to leave after the season.
  6. I can hear the collective sigh all the way from Scottsbluff to Omaha!!! Accidents happen, and I'm glad no one was hurt! Suh was legal to drive, and all is well...except for his mother's insurance rates! Don't worry mom, I'm pretty sure he'll be able to pay this one back...
  7. What about the Huskers in ALL RED !!! Yuck !!! Better than all white!!! But not much...
  8. They keyed on Cody and the line couldn't open holes. He did do something Lee couldn't the past 2 weeks though, and that's lead the team to victory. I will have to defer to the "D" leading the team to victory, again they played a good game and kept a crappy offense in check, while in turn they get rewarded with another crappy offense not putting points on the board. I saw no difference in offense between Cody and Zac... When will some of you realize that the offensive line is just flat out horrible and the MAIN reason this offense can not do anything, it has nothing to do what plays are being called, these guys couldn't block a high school JV team. ok I'm done I'm not sure they could block the School of the Blind JV Team.
  9. I got married in Ponca at the Methodist church...my folks lived in Newcastle at the time (dad was Principal then). Nice town. Some good Huskers have come from there!!!
  10. Boys, bad line play and poor playcalling trump a better QB.
  11. He had 10 catches for 133 yards and 1 TD last night in a game that was just like NU's game against Mizzouri. He dropped a couple in the rain, but his team won 7-6. And it was on a muddy field, not field turf, so the conditions were even worse. You couldn't even see the numbers on the jerseys by the end of the game...I'm pretty impressed. You guys have seen what a HS field can look like in a downpour like that.
  12. Logan Young is a 6-4 190 LB WR from Delta High School in Indiana (just outside of Muncie). Logan is the second leading reciever in the state (was leading until last week) with 24 fewer catches than the leading reciever. He has nearly 1200 yards on 52 catches. Starting DE. Rated a 3-star by Rivals. Loves to block. Runs between a 4.5 and 4.6 40, honor roll student, and terrific basketball player and track man. His team is 10-0 heading into the 2nd round of playoffs, and has a chance to make a run. Sent film to NU last summer, they didn't even respond. Now they want current film, so he's working on getting game tape to them. I think he'd make a great addition. Sounds like NU may want him. He told me he'd come to NU if they offered, even though he's already committed to Indiana. He just doesn't think NU wants him, even though I have guaranteed him that they NEED him!
  13. Look, we've heard this before. I'm not doubting Miami's sources. I wouldn't be surprised if the coaches told Cody he had a chance to start. Last week, they basically promised him playing time, and he got NADA. Adrian Fiala was convinced Green would start on Saturday. He has some pretty good sources. Obviously they were wrong. I think it's bullcrap that the coaches told CG to be ready to play and then left him on the sidelines. Coaches do that kind of crap all the time. But that doesn't make it right. I think it's crap that they burned his redshirt, and now can't get him ready to play. I think it's crap that they brought him in to run a read-option spread, and this offense sucks. BUT: The starter will be the starter. I hope he preforms well enough for the team to win, whether it be Lee or Green.
  14. Can I get an "Amen" from the congregation?
  15. NU 17 Baylor 6 NU kicks 5 FG's and gets a safety. Baylor scores on a 99 yd INT for a TD. Suh blocks the XP and gets another INT.
  16. That is really good, CY! I am going to use that one...
  17. I have DirecTV, and it pisses me off!!!!!!!
  18. Not defending the recievers here (I think Niles Paul and Melo Holt should be on the bench!) but it is awfully tough to catch passes that are a yard or two behind them...
  19. I guess my question is, why can other programs with complex offenses (see: USC) get freshmen to play at QB and play well, but NU cant? The answer: Watson is an X's and O's guy. He doesn't know how to teach fundamentals or execution. I don't care who the QB is, as long as he can guide the offense to TD's. Zac isn't doing that. Two of his INT's were tipped because he didn't execute. One was thrown right to the ISU player. Would Cody Green do better? Who knows. Lee isn't the whole problem. But at this point, what is there to lose? I don't know if NU can win another game with the way things are going.
  20. Didn't we hear the same song and dance after the TTech game? The only guy who didn't see as much time was Helu...and no matter what the coaches say, the guy is hurting.
  21. Actually, Tommie's first start was at Mizzou (win) then against CU (win) and KU (win). In his 4th start NU lost to ISU. But I totally agree with the rest of your statement... And guys, I wonder...there is a reason they didn't redshirt Green this year. You don't redshirt a player at the QB spot just to be a backup...right?
  22. And maybe Barney...and maybe Watson... lol
  23. Keep in mind it is not only the OC's job to call plays...it is his job to get the offense ready to play. He ain't doin' that. Timing, QB play, everything. Not getting it done. Bo, as the head coach, needs to step in. Chew some ass on the offensive side of the ball, players AND coaches.
