  1. That could be because the mirror fogged when you breathed on it and your name didn't show up in the obituaries. Then again, you may feel we are going to roll, which we are. However, I did have a very bad dream the other night that Mizz got the ball 1st and had a 19 minute(????) opening drive for a TD.
  2. The old WWWF misused many a worker. Stan Hansen, Brody, Spiros Arion, Firpo and many others had short stints there before moving on to stardom in Japan or Puerto Rico. Putski was the poster child for steriods. His physique while with Gagne looked more like Mighty Igor. Goes to WWWF and becomes chiseled in no time.
  3. Don't talk about "tendencies". You'll be accused of knowing nothing about football.
  4. We owe Cal. They've longc@cked us on a few guys over the years.
  5. B)--> QUOTE(Husker B @ Sep 30 2009, 06:01 AM) 479187[/snapback] bwaahahahahahahaha ok Apparently it is CSU, not CU. The dude that runs the Buffs Rivals sitte had it screwed up.
  6. I don't think Bo has any eligibility left. He will have to let the team win this one on their own it appears. Tim, you do realize your wins, except last year, have come with our worst coach ever at the helm? Additionally, said coach(es) also managed to stick it to Boogy boy in Lincoln. If anyone is teetering on the edge of irrelevance, it is Mizz. You are a lot closer to where you came from than we are to losing our place in CFB. These next 3 losses will test your mettle(and yes, I expect kudos for proper spelling and context).
  7. Frank Brody, in your picture, was one of the craziest, and toughest guys I ever met. He worked for us alot in the Sportatorium. His murder was a shame. It's cool that someone recognized him. I wish I had known him, a damn sad end that is for sure........ You in the business? years ago in the early 90's booking with the GWF out of Dallas, after the Von Erichs sold World Class. I've started a couple of Indy promotions in Denver over the last 10 years. Lots of guys came through that place. Jeep Swenson, Abdullah, Steve Austin, Booker T and his brother, Chris Adams, too many to name. THAT is a whole 'nother world.

  9. Did beating OU twice under Ron Prince show that KSU was back? It remains to be seen whether OU has some serious problems this year, but if you were to win the conference this year it would be because UT and OU have stepped backward this year, not because you stepped up to being a top 5 program like those two are. If you want to get respect, you have to win consistently. You have a major benefit of the doubt in your name and tradition that Mizzou could only dream of. We'd have to be a top 10-15 team every year for a decade to get the same kind of respect you'd get for doing that for 4 years. what? Doc, did you used to post as Tuff Tiger?
  10. You DO NOT want to see this place if we lose. If you think the complaining about recruiting or playcalling or whatever else is bad now, it would be....well, unfathomable. You'd best have the defibrillators at hand and charging. Sorry, TEB, but after 16 posts you do not know the resilligence of this board or of Husker Nation as a whole. I and many thousands of others have lived through good and bad. My first visit to Memorial Stadium we lost to Washington and Jack Thompson, the Throughin' Samoan. Many of us have lived through crushing defeats. Strange thing, we are all still here and we will still be here no matter what happens next Thursday. Either get on board or stand at the curb, The BIG RED is passing by. T_O_B I've been around here a long time, just under another name but I can never get frick'n log ins to work when I don't post for a while. I don't know what resilligence is AND, oddly enough, my 1st NU game was the 19-10 game as well. Was just a tike then. I do know us NU fans have endured MORE heartbreak than any other fan. By my count, we could've won OR played for all the marbles in...78,81,82,83,86,89,90,93,94,95,96,97,00,01. A couple of the early 70 teams were highly ranked as well. Give us just half of those and the perception of NU would have been unprecedented powerhouse as opposed to lovable loser. I just think that folks are SOOOOOOOOOOO ready to become more relevant again, and this IS a BIG CHANCE, that I know it will not be well received if we lose..'specially to Mizz. I view us Husker fans like the Israelis. We are spread out to every corner of the earth BUT if the homeland is attacked, we will defend it to the end...and we are quite powerful as well. NOBODY travels like us and ,for a small population, supports their team. We've had a decade of tough times, by our standards, and support has rarely waned. We are ready to come out of our depression in a big way.
  11. I thinks it's funny that you think we are going to lose. Maybe I watch to much college football. No wonder I get yelled at all the time. Sorry, but there is no way we lose this game. Doesn't matter if they find a way to cram another 80,000 in the stands, this one get's chalked up in the W column. I love the confidence, but it can happen! Things are looking better for Nebraska than in past years, but a loss would not be out of the question (still have road game jitters against teams who have shalacked us in the past). BTW, did I mention that we should kick the $hit outta those mutherf*%&ing Tiggers? I didn't say we were going to lose unless I misread my own post. I personally think we win going away. I find it kinda funny others on the Board are a little worried. I think I just posted about hillbillies and farmers, meaning people would see mizzur'ns for the hillbillies they are.
  12. You DO NOT want to see this place if we lose. If you think the complaining about recruiting or playcalling or whatever else is bad now, it would be....well, unfathomable. You'd best have the defibrillators at hand and charging. I know i think ill avoid the board that day, most likely it will end up crashing anyway. As I think about it, it just may be as bad if we win. All the testosterone will be off the charts here as if the posters played the game. This may be a no win sitchy-ation, me thinks.
  13. I get wanting to play OU every year. I don't get wanting to do it so late in the year. A loss early you can recover from and maybe play for all the marbles. Late in the year, not so much.

  15. The public image should change dramatically. You would be surprised how many folks don't know the difference 'twixt a Hillbilly and a Farmer. Us Nebraskans inaccurately get called hillbillies far too often. Once the TV focuses on the MU fight song that probably sounds something like someone calling a square dance and they all start "ala man left, grand right and lefting", the perception will change for the positive for us.
  16. If you think thay are bad now, just wait. When people were on their bandwagon at the end of last year, I said they have ZERO depth on both lines and would struggle mightily with little talent in the program. These guys have ZERO DTs on the team and very few DEs worth noting. They are just terribly thin in all areas and lacking talent across the board. Even if they could afford to fire him(and they can't), it wouldn't make any sense. The next coach inherits a terrible situation and struggles as well. They don't have a Donor base to speak of so I wouldn't worry about donations falling off. They are better off riding it out for the next 3 years. I think they STILL owe Boise money on his buyout there as well.
  17. Don't take this the wrong way, but... are you new to football? nope, are you?
  18. Just a guess...but I bet you own 1 of everything from the Super market check out lines. You seem to think snap decisions are OK.
  19. Brother, after that "joke" you posted in the Missouri joke thread, you really don't want to be calling people out for being ornery. If you could kindly point out Tim's "valid points" that would be great. Seems the consensus is that he hasn't had any yet. Any help you could provide... Well, I tend to agree with him that "just because it's always been that way" really doesn't apply. Just because we won 24 years in a row doesn't mean we will again. As much as I dislike them, Mizzou is making some nice improvements to their program, both facility wise and player wise. They are like the Iranians. There's gonna be a fight whether we want it or not...it's more a matter of "on who's terms". We can pooh pooh their progress all we want OR we can improve(as we are) and crush them BEFORE they get any more momentum. You liked the Lincoln Log joke HuH? One of my favorites. Also, it seems his primary point is that each individual game has it's own synergy. Just because they didn't match up well with another team has no effect on their matchups with us. Anybody that thinks the last 3 games have any bearing on the upcoming one is a little naive. Admittedly, teams CAN get on a roll like Mizz did in '97 the 2 weeks before they played us, but I don't think either team has built that kind of momentum at this point in the season. If those games have no insight as to what might happen in our match up, I wonder why the coaches waste all of that time watching useless video. but he's speeeeeeciiiiiaaalllll For tendencies in situations...do you think the coaches strictly watch the last 3 games for ideas? A 5'11" DB at Nevada may have an entirely different skill set than our same 5'11" guy. You are aware that it took Watson 3 years to come up with the 2001 CU gameplan, aren't you? Or did he just use the prior 3 games? By your logic, in '97, we should have been able to stop that stupid crossing pattern Mizz used on us all day. Hell they only ran it to prefection against Okie Light and someone else the 2 weeks before...
  20. Would that have been 1992? What a great, great game. They pulled Detmer late in that game and let Kordell have a go, and we teed off on him, too. Unmerciful. One of the best games I have on DVD. The Defense was unreal that night.
  21. If we beat Mizz, this game is setting up to be a real tail kick'n..and we seem to owe them a few. For as many times as I have watched Tech, I cannot figure out how their receivers seem to get so wide open. Do they use picks or something??

  24. As a long time lurker on all Husker Boards, it does seem a number of us read too man press clippings about being the greatest fans. I find a high number to be fairly ornery and a little stand off-ish(if you will forgive my Tuff Tiger-ish word). Tim has some valid points. I do however find this board has some of the funniest MFers on it. I still laugh about Captain Obvious's post " I had nothing to do with this" when someone used the term Captain Obvious in a generic way.
  25. Pickel and Bogger were gameplanning for Nebraska when Pickel thought it would be more effective by playing beer football as a sort of a hands on virtual reality type game. Pickel tells Booger, I'm Nebraska, you be Mizzery. I call a defense and then you call a play that will produce a touchdown. If it is the correct call, you get a touchdown and have to guzzle a beer for the 6 points and turn around a rip a good one for the extra point. Boogy agrees, great idea. "hey Coach Pickel, you can then call a neb play and I will call a defense. Deal says Pickel. Pickel, starts and calls a Defense, Boogy calls the correct play...TD! Guzzle Guzzle, drops 'em, turns and rips one...7-0. Pickel calls a Neb play and Boogy, offensive genius that he is, calls the wrong D. TD-Pickel. Guzzle, guzzle, RRIIIPPPP. 7-7. Each score again. Guzzle guzzle, Rip Rip. Pickel calls another defense. Boogy calls the correct play...guzzle, guzzle...RIIIPPPP 21-14 but Boogy is gett'n tipsy. Figures he HAS to make a play. MAKE A PLAY DAMMIT. Pickel calls a play, again, the offensive genius misses the correct D. 21-20 Boogy, Pickel slams down a beer for 6, turns around to rip one for the point after and Boogy makes the correct call.... As he mounts Pickel he chants...BLOCK THAT KICK!! BLOCK THAT KICK!! BLOCK THAT KICK!!
