  1. That is exactly up for debate, and I made my point poorly. I'm pointing out that nobody was complaining about the WR production after the 2008 season. Swift and Peterson were also guys Gilmore developed. You have to look at Gilmore's successes as well as failures. I'm not saying Gilmore has done a great job or anything, but I'm not convinced he's doing a bad one either. Well here's a question here for you. Do you really think Gilmore developed those guys? Swift's best season was possibly his Freshman year. You could say his Senior season was better, but honestly not much. You also have to realize that both Swift and Peterson have naturally good work ethic. Maybe that wasn't the case for Holt and Brooks? Not saying they weren't hard workers but maybe they needed to be inspired more than Swift and Pete. I just don't think you can necessarily call Swift and Peterson "Gilmore's successes." I would classify them as personal successes. And to whomever posted that Gilmore is a darn good recruiter: I haven't noticed much WR talent coming in and any big time recruit, regardless of the position, seems to be pulled in by JP
  2. Let's wait and see if these guys actually make an NFL roster before anointing them as "NFL talent". And having "NFL talent" doesn't mean squat to me as a college football fan - I'd take Swift and Petersen over some lineups with "NFL talent". maybe i should have bolded the... or close to it. if they are being signed or invited to try outs, they are close to it. and for Nebraska to have WRs that are even, i'll say it again, close to NFL talent, that's a plus. Swift is also regarded as "close to it". he signed with the Broncos. so i never said i'd take these two over Swift and Peterson. please don't tell me you are trying to say you think Gilmore is a good coach and actually develops players. i'm pretty sure that's not even up for debate.
  3. Seemed to work for Dillard. Dillard's wasn't in the middle of his senior season. the fact is, these two receivers are apparently NFL talent, or close to it, and we complained all year about our lack of receivers. that to me shows how bad Gilmore really is.
  4. good to see Turner signing with the Bears, Holt signing with the Chiefs, and Brooks will be trying out for the Bucs. Holt formerly on the scout team as a senior? Brooks never getting much PT? and now they are getting looks in the NFL? tells me a lot about the quality of our WR coach...
  5. I don't think he goes to the NFL...he's a guy who loves to build character, develop players, build relationships, and be around tradition. Those are all distinctly college football things. In the NFL players are business, they either have character or they don't, tradition is there somewhat but the family atmosphere goes out the door with several teams, it's a business and BO isn't exactly into all the politics of football. Also, the Notre Dame job was open last year and he didn't go apply for it. He knows Kelly is a good coach and might be there for a while, He'll win football games. If Pelini Really wanted to coach at Notre Dame why didn't he apply last year for the job? Or a few years back before Charlie Weiss got there, why didn't he apply then? He's had his chances to be considered for the job. I think he really likes Nebraska. Osborne has got to be a dream to work for, he gets to wear his sweatshirt to games to coach, gets to work with his brother. He's practically a celebrity around Lincoln, he's got top notch facilities so moving elsewhere wouldn't be an upgrade in that way. He's guaranteed pay increases every time he wins football games and has great seasons, NU values family and offers one of the best game day family atmospheres in the country and we all know Bo is a family man. Nebraska has a strong Catholic and Lutheran population, we know Bo is a devout Catholic. I mean must I keep going?! i agree with you i'm just passing along information. i think Bo will never leave. he needs Nebraska as much as we need him
  6. take it FWIW, but my high school coach is good friends with one of Bo's friends. Bo's friend said there are two places he would leave for (which doesn't mean he would for sure, but the only two he would consider leaving for): 1. Notre Dame (Pelini is a devout Catholic) 2. the NFL i've heard that his tied with OSU were cut long ago
  7. i see on detroitlions.com they are selling Suh jerseys as #90. anyone know if that's officially his number?
  8. Was just watching Todd McShay do his mock draft on ESPN. He quoted, "And at the third pick, Tampa Bay will take the Number One Defensive Tackle in the draft Gerald McCoy, though he's the second DT selected." It's disgusting that he could actually think McCoy is better than Suh. Maybe he has a better juke move to get to the QB. The only argument against Suh is that in college, he just "overpowered" Offensive Linemen and he won't be able to do that in the NFL. Here's my rebuttal: Are these NFL O-linemen suddenly new breeds or new people that just appear in the NFL? No, they are the exact same people that Suh laughed at in college. Do Offensive Linemen magically get stronger and more dominant when they are drafted, whereas DTs stay the same? No. Suh handled the best of Offensive Linemen in college, and will do the same to the same O-linemen in the NFL. Todd McShay sucks. (tried to look for a thread that included this topic but was unsuccessful. sorry if there is one already.)
  9. basically says he needs to keep his grades up (doubt a HS teacher would fail him and basically ruin the rest of his football career if he's at least trying) and needs an 18 on the ACT or an 890 on the SAT. i never took the SAT so idk how difficult that is, but i'm assuming its comparable to an 18 on the ACT. anyways, he just took the SAT in March and hasn't gotten his score back yet (usually it takes only two weeks so my guess is he didn't reach his goal and isn't telling us that yet). he is signed up to take both the ACT and the SAT again. when you're dealing with such low scores, guessing is going to play a huge factor. let's cross our fingers and hope he has some lucky guesses the next time he takes these tests to boost that 17 to an 18. he sounds positive but i for one am extremely worried and my gut says it's 50/50 which is disheartening because he is our best recruit in this class
  10. haha seriously? i understand we might be looking ahead to the Washington game, but that doesn't make it TOUGHER than the Washington game. if your argument is that Idaho has a great QB, well... Washington's QB is better. not to mention the Washington game isn't in Lincoln. Sarkisian will have them ready and no doubt will be our toughest non-conference game. no argument for Idaho. It'll be interesting to see how Washington looks in its season opener when they travel to BYU. That game could go either way. I could also see BYU winning that game. Then they play Syracuse the next week. Granted, I know its Syracuse but the Orange I thought made some improvement last year. That game is no pushover. Washington could very well be 0-2 going into Sept 18th. still doesn't mean Idaho at home is tougher than @ Washington

  12. Easily a 4 star... maybe 5 lolz to the 5 star. he's not even in the Rivals250 to watch. if he's borderline a top 250 player, he obviously isn't in the top 30. i'm saying 50/50 on a 5.7 3 star or a 5.8 4 star. either way doesn't matter. he's only 16 so after a beastly senior season he'll be a 4 star
  13. i know many people aren't interested in ratings, but does anyone know what he is projected at? from what i read from posters and from his videos i would guess he is a 5.7 3 star. thoughts?
  14. Martinez (no I will not call him T-mart, T-money, or anything of the sort) is 6'1" and so is Jamal Turner. Turner is listed at 175, but he's just a junior in HS. He may even have some natural growing left to do. Besides, if they want him at 195ish like Martinez, you know Dobson could have him there in 18 months. Also Jamal Turner has a MUCH better arm than Martinez, but he's not as fast/elusive. that is a good point. but a few things i'll add. i was standing right next to Turner yesterday and hes not 6'1". i see Martinez on campus alot and he's definitely taller than Turner. you are right he could still grow an inch or two. i disagree when you say Turner isn't as fast/elusive as Martinez. i think he's more fast/elusive (his latest video is the best pure running video i've seen) but i'm not sure about the arm yet. not many throwing plays in that video nor are his passing statistics very impressive. i hope he is a QB someday here, but i hope the coaches switch him to WR quickly if they realize he's not much of a passer From the film I've seen on Turner, he has some of the sickest juke moves I've ever seen for a QB. He reminds me of a right-handed Pat White. He can cut at the drop of a dime and accelerate in an instant. As far as how he stacks up to Martinez in that dept. we'll find out next spring, because Turner will be on campus in January 2011. Like I said in another thread, between Martinez, Carnes and Turner next spring, they're bound to give Sipple and other Husker media hounds a woody with their athleticism. It'll be another slobber fest come next spring. please don't forget Green already. not personally impressed with him yet but with his maturity (based on how he talks to the media) there's no doubt that he still has star potential if he puts in the work
  15. I disagree with you. However pre-mature it may be, it's a nickname that the players came up with, not the fan base. It's no different than any other nickname imho. Gmoose touched on this and I saw your response to him, but I still disagree. Despite his listing at 6'1" (which, we all know that height is one of the most screwed up numbers in the evaluation process), he's only a Junior (will be a Senior next year) and has plenty of room to grow and add muscle to his frame. Even if he doesn't gain weight before college, Dobson is, in my honest opinion, one of the best strength and conditioning coaches I've seen. He can build healthy weight with anybody. But, only time will tell. when i said too small i didn't mean muscle-wise. if Dobson can somehow get Jamal to grow a few more inches in height, then yes i would say he is the best strength and conditioning coach in the history of football.

  17. niles made great plays but prince played great too. niles was well covered and great throws combined with tremendous catches are why he outshined prince today, not because prince got burned
  18. jamal = too small and i don't think will play QB. i know you have your Chase Daniels and Todd Reesings of the world but they dont come around often. i do think T-Mart has a great chance at being the starter someday because he just has the confident (maybe even cocky) swagger that a starting QB needs. IMO everyone looks past Brion Carnes. great runner and underrated passer.
  19. It just doesn't seem like a joke. The status itself may sound like one, but his comment on the status just makes me believe its real. If not, congrats to him on fooling me.
  20. don't think it's an april fool's joke. probably not a big deal but definitely not a good thing
  21. When there were rumors going around a month ago about this switch, the tag-along rumor was that he'd be dropping to 220 or 225
  22. so does this make McNeill the leader to start with Paul? i guess it wouldn't be a big deal because with the offense we want to run we'll probably have 3 receivers on the field at a time anyways
  23. i think turner is not a QB. never saw much throwing in his videos, which tells me he either doesn't throw much or just isn't good at it or both
  24. his personal website, KiehlFrazier15.com, kind of worries me. i sure hope he didn't make the site himself. that would be extremely cocky. my best guess is that his dad made it, because based on the recent Rivals article on him, his dad seems to be a huge part in his recruiting. its a nice informative site, but i hope that someone of no relation to Kiehl made it
