  1. Considering there are 9 FBS teams in Texas, that still puts us in the top half.
  2. That was before they were done building it and filling it with the bodies of those who died during the construction. Now you can see it from space!
  3. Carter didn't play against New Mexico is something that I didn't know but still Carter isn't the whole offense and I don't see a problem for anybody like Suh, Crick, Allen, or Turner to get to the QB the way that New Mexico did. We had 3 starting OL out for NM. All should be back on Saturday. Prepare to meet the Great Wall of Lubbock.
  4. Brandon Carter is also a consensus All-American. Should be a great match-up to watch all day. Crazy, that you never really thing about going into a game that you are excited to watch some line play. I imagine the cameras will focus on the match up through out the game. Also, Carter quit wearing the make up after the suspension and Leach called out the whole team for being narcissistic media whores and then banned the interwebs.
  5. Damn...is that guy in the middle being blocked or having the Heimlich maneuver done on him? That is Orakpo from last years game. He was hurt on that play and didn't play the rest of the game. I guess that is one way to keep an All-American D lineman from getting any sacks.
  6. This is true, but not relevant to a conversation about Leach's "gimmick" offense. Think how many games TT could win if they upgraded their defense. They could be a legit power, but for whatever reason, Leach refuses to work on his defense. I'm not complaining. It is not that he refuses to work on his defense, it is just that the caliber of athlete willing to come to Tech to play defense has not caught up with the type of athletes that come to play in his offense.
  7. Total Offense simply measures yardage, not effectiveness. For that you need to look at Scoring Offense, or, how many points you produce per game. Here's our opponent ranks in that category: FAU 110 Ark St 48 VT 20 ULaLa 105 MU 31 Instead of an average of 66.2 (Total Offense), our opponents have an average of 62.8 (Scoring Offense). See? That's way better. Does scoring offense only account for scores made by the O, or does it take it total score? I believe VT has more ST and D TDs than they do O TDs. Either way, Yes Tech has faced worse defenses than NU has faced offenses, but not by much. This Saturday will definitely be the toughest test for both.
  8. What about Suh against a Hurricane, but the Hurricane is name Suh?
  9. Fair enough. His arrogance has become more apparent in recent seasons, and truthfully some of his game decisions are befuddling. But considering how he has made Tech relevant, completely changed the landscape of the Big 12 by introducing the spread, first at OU then at Tech, his ability to bring talent to Lubbock and still be able to compete year in and year out in the Big 12 South, placing him as the worst coach in the Big 12 and placing Pelini at #1 is truly arrogant.
  10. Helu carried the ball 28 times for 168 yards vs. Va. Tech. He will be a work horse if Watson, the OC, lets him. That is the question for going into this game, will NU force feed the running game. NU has one if they want to use it, that has been the issue lately to our consternation. And as I recall NU was unable to move the ball in the 4th Q. If you are unable to get 1st downs late in the game, Tech can still score quickly. NU had a 54 yard drive in the 4th QTR so I am not sure that NU COULDN'T move the ball. The point you are talking about was when NU got the ball on the VT 46, they had 4th and 1 at the 37 and Bo opted to punt instead of going for it. You are right, if NU can't run the clock out late in this game it will make it tough and give TT more chances just like VT got another one. However against MU with 5:24 to go in the game, NU reeled off a pure running drive that took 4:28 off the clock and went 68 yards for the TD sealing the game. Need to do this again vs. TT if given the chance at the end of the game. Wasn't that a pretty good mix of Helu and Birkhead? If Birkhead is healthy and able to play, then my point is moot. Only other player to run the ball besides Helu vs. VT was Lee. Burkhead had a reception. He got a fair share of snaps, but Helu was and is the horse. Don't get me wrong, I love Rex and his loss does hurt but as Helu goes so goes the offense. Sorry, I meant to qualify that by saying the 4th Q drive in the MU game seemed like it was more running back by committee. Depth is what carries you through the 4th Q.
  11. Houston is currently #1 in Total Offense. TTU is #2. And if you look at who they've played, it's not that hard to see why. Aside from UT (#4 in Total Defense and #16 in Scoring Defense), everyone else is in the lower half. K-State #53 (#66 in Scoring Defense) Houston #111 (#98 in Scoring Defense) Rice #115 (#120 in Scoring Defense) North Dakota (FCS Team--no ranking could be found) Whereas NU is currently: #13 in Total Defense (#3 in Big 12) #14 in Pass Defense (#1 in Big 12) #3 in Pass Efficiency Defense (#1 in Big 12) #33 in Rushing Defense (#5 in Big 12) #2 in Scoring Defense (#3 in Big 12) T-34 in Sacks T-51 for Tackles for Loss On the flip side, its not like NU has been playing stellar Offenses: FAU - 56 Ark St - 84 VT - 54 ULaLa - 99 MU - 38 And don't give me the reason they are ranked low is b/c they already played NU. That also works the other way around.
  12. Wow, that is a lot of steam in 2 days. I would guess that is will settle back around 10.

  14. I am not sure where the hatred for Leach comes from for HuskerMoon, but this is the 2nd thread he has started about it. Curious. You stated in either this thread or the other one that Leach's players don't respect them and that is why they act like a bunch of thugs on and off the field. Not sure is you ever check the arrest wire for UT and OU players, but they are way out in front in the Big 12. But no one ever questions Macks or Stoops ability to control their players. Also, Tech has led the Big 12 in Football Graduation Rates for 6 years running. I am sure that is a good sign of a coach not having any control over his team. Leach's football philosophy is to let his players play loose and he does run a pretty loose ship during battle letting the players make plays. But the rest of the week I guaranty you he is as strict a captain as they come. Just a few examples for your reading pleasure: http://www.lubbockonline.com/stories/03280...415487051.shtml http://www.doubletnation.com/2009/4/14/834...ended-weve-been When he learned that a pirate ship was a functional democracy; that pirates disciplined themselves; that, loathed by others, they nevertheless found ways to work together, the pirate ship became a metaphor for his football team.
