1. +1 Agreed. Should be interesting to follow its development in the coming years.
2. The more I read about the upcoming first-of-its-kind research collaboration facilities being unveiled @ East Stadium, the more intrigued I become. The latest news on CB3 gives us a clearer picture of its intended vision and goals for the immediate future. UNL is in line for a piece of the $10 billion "Brain Mapping" federal research grant being announced in March and the timing couldn't be better with CB3 opening in a few months. Academics + Athletics = Innovative Research Brain project would be big gig for Lincoln lab I also hope this speeds up the process and brings greater awareness to Innovation Campus. This will also be a GIANT feather in the cap of elevating the overall academic profile of UNL in the future. Make no mistake, I love NU athletics and will support all Husker student/athletes 'til the day I expire. But I'm just as interested in the latest developments in Academics at NU for many reasons beyond athletics. CB3 and Innovation Campus have the potential to push UNL into another Academic stratosphere, never before seen. That bodes well for those of us who hope to see our future kids/grandkids/relatives enrolling and seeing a bigger and better UNL than we're seeing today. Not to mention the potential economic impact that these research facilities could have for the entire state of Nebraska is quite promising as well. This is why joining the B1G and by extension, the CIC, made too much sense when viewing it through the lens of Academics alone. It's too early to see its benefits right now since we're still new yet. But I have a feeling UNL and the community of Lincoln as a whole is going to look different in 20 years.

12. FWIW, Sagarin SOS ratings: 1995 Nebraska = 117.05 pts. 2001 Miami = 108.70 pts.
13. Taking nothing away from the 2001 Miami team because that team rightly deserves to be considered one of the best. However, what separates 1995 Nebraska from 2001 Miami is that Nebraska was never in danger of losing a game. Ever. The game was usually decided by the 3rd quarter during the '95 season. Our backups were getting plenty of playing time, particularly in the 4th quarter that season. Miami on the other hand was on the verge of collapsing vs. Virginia Tech when they squandered a 16 pt. lead in the 4th quarter. Tech had a chance to tie the game on a 2 pt. conversion which failed. Final score: 26-24, Miami. While it's common for "Great Teams" to have "one of those games" in a season, that particular game puts the 2001 Miami team behind 1995 Nebraska, because Nebraska was never threatened the entire season. They just poured it on thick the first 3 quarters and the game was over by the 4th quarter. In other words, 1995 Nebraska never had "one of those games" that season. They were on cruise control the entire season and never looked back.
14. I'm not gonna pretend to know what Bo or the aforementioned recruits are thinking in this situation and how it got to this point. Having said that, my best guess is if you look at Walker's recruiting history, he was a Vandy commit when he visited Nebraska. Long story short, the Vandy staff was pissed that he visited NU while still committed to Vandy. Shortly after the visit, he decommitted from Vandy, but I wouldn't be surprised if Vandy pulled his offer first? Just a guess though? So in Walker's case we have precedence. He basically did to Nebraska what he did to Vandy before them. He went against two different coaching staff's wishes and visited other schools as a committed prospect. McWilson on the other hand has only been committed to Nebraska this whole time. His situation is different because of Marrow. It's been mentioned in this thread that recruiting is all about relationships. Hence the reason why we're in limbo with his recruitment at the moment. Quite a different scenario than Walker's recruitment.
15. He's had an interesting journey. He's from Sweden. SI wrote an article about him this past year. After securing U.S. citizenship, QB Dillman set to be top recruit His HS coach @ La Mirada is former Colorado QB, Mike Moschetti. We recruited a safety, Aaryn Bouzos from La Mirada two years ago before letting him go due to his size. He ended up at the Air Force Academy.
16. That might be, but my computer has been doing that to me a lot. This is when you have to manually input the code for it to embed properly. Just know that different youtube accounts may use different embedding permissions settings. Using the Johnny Football video you were trying to embed, here's what the full URL looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=n58bFRauLL4 What you'll want to do in this case is remove the: feature=player_embedded& Then manually input the rest of the URL together as follows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n58bFRauLL4 Wrap the newly modified URL with either: OR Voila! To make a long story short, if you're having problems embedding videos, double-check the embed code and use the following code instead: The IDENTIFIER will be 11 characters long and it'll always come after v= Using the Johnny Football video as an example, the 11 character identifier after the v= n58bFRauLL4 is needed for the video to embed properly. Underscores _ are sometimes included in the 11 character identifier. Or as zoogies already mentioned, some videos will not allow embedding outside of youtube, per the owner's request. In that case you'll just have to leave a direct link of the URL which will redirect viewers to youtube.
17. Scout has an eligibility tracker for both scholarship and non-scholarship players.
18. The current rule is Grad. Assistants can do all of the above mentioned duties. However they're not allowed to leave campus and recruit. The only face-to-face recruiting they can engage in is when a recruit visits campus, officially or unofficially. What intrigues me about this new rule isn't so much the rule itself, because part of a Grad. Assistant's duty is recruiting among other things. So it's nothing new in that respect. What it does is it allows NU to invest in people who specialize in scouting/recruiting. It'd be even better if they can find people who have no desire to coach. The "Moneyball" kinda guys that think outside the box. The unsung heroes of recruiting.
