  1. Banker's defense is not playing that well. Nobody has even pretended that it is. So you're "all Hail Banker" rant sounds like an internal argument you're having with yourself. You should keep it internal.
  2. Our offensive coordinator should call plays that will work, unless they don't work then he shouldn't have called them. Signed, Huskerboard.com
  3. I could see Taylor and Wilbon bailing out. Wouldn't blame them. Wilbon looks like the best RB on the team to me. I've heard multiple times that Taylor looks really good in practice. Maybe he wants a chance to show it. Any chance Foster on the offensive line leaves? I've heard about how impressive he is, heck I think even this coaching staff has said as much. If he's so impressive but can't get on the field, I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to actually play ball for someone. I don't know? Is there some mass exodus expected or is GBRedneck just a little upset right now?
  4. He's had a lot of chances to work with a roster he's built for himself. He's now 150-151 as a HC. How many more seasons do you need to see before you realize the capabilities of Mike Riley? Maybe 2, possibly 3.
  5. Does anyone have any numbers or facts to back up this "slow developing" claim? I've posted more than enough video evidence to support the lack of effort or ability from the offensive line. Compared to the rest of the country, is Nebraska's run game slow developing? I guess I don't know where you'd find that.
  6. He sure sounds like he knows what he's talking about, unlike Bo Pelini. Riley always seems to have the right answer and he seems to see the same things that I believe this team needs to fix. He clearly doesn't see the effort thing as an issue from what we've heard him say. So I guess that's good for him and is definitely telling as to why he doesn't seem to be too worried about accountability. Hard to address a problem that you don't see as a problem in the first place. Aside from that, I've always liked his plan. I like the coaches he's surrounded himself with. I like the philosophy and scheme on both offense and defense. I just don't think the players excute either one very consistently. I'd like to see the guy get a shot at things with a little bit more of a roster he's built for himself and his coaches. Aside from that, I can't judge him too much based on his history as far as win/losses go. He was at Oregon St.. Nobody wins there........ except for Riley. A lot of smart people say he's a good coach. He was offered some really top tier positions in the past, that can't be for no reason. I'm not going to judge him too harshly based on his 8 games so far into this season either. Like I said, I just like the way he does things and I happen to think both the offensive and defensive plans will come together just fine if we can get guys to execute them more consistently. It's not happening right now.

Sadly, no games are "definites" anymore. That was proven vs. Illinois.

That's what I heard. I blame the sun. "Us against the SUN!" mentality........
  9. Yep. IIRC we lose one more home game and it will be the first time in history we have a losing record at home...... Just an average guys mentality with no real expectations of achieving greatness...... You don't coach this long by being an average guy with no expectations of achieving greatness. These coaches are more than average guys, and they came to Nebraska for a reason. They have expectations, they're just not seeing them 8 games into their tenure here. This is surprising? Not for me. I thought we'd be a little bit better as a football team, but I knew there'd be struggles this year. What scares me is this "going through the motions" look I get from some of the players on this team. This is just not Mike Riley's team yet. Hard to indict them for everything we're seeing.
  10. We disagree. Playcalling was actually pretty strong IMO. There were some third and shorts we threw on that I would've like to see run, but tough for Langsdorf to make that call when his offensive line isn't able to pick up yards on the ground. Screen plays were great, probably could've run more. I haven't heard anyone complaining about the run plays being slow developing. Everyone here is saying the opposite. That we were running straight ahead and being too simple. I'd say it was about a 50/50 mix of simple plays and some more creative stuff. Can't get too creative and run a lot of misdirection when the defense is in the backfield, but we still tried once in awhile. We will just have to disagree about the playcalling. I'm fine with that. I'm coming down on the players today. I've watched the whole game now and some of it I've watch three times. These players will decide to bring it or they won't. That's on them and nobody else.
  11. As horrible as Gerry was on the play, watch Banderas from beginning to end, it's hilarious. He's at the top left of the screen as Thorson is running on the right. Gerry. It goes back to the comments by Phillips when he was hired. "That white boy safety will be a first round pick if I can fix his hips". Gerry has no fluidity in his hips. He can't "open" them to rapidly change direction. Hence he has issues in the open field when guys break or cut. I'll tell you exactly what happened and it wasn't Gerry's hips. Gerry thought Thorson would play bitch and head toward the sideline. Gerry played it that way and got caught with his pants around his ankles when unlike some of the Husker players, Thorson didn't quit on the play and continued up field.
  12. I'm only kicking through the goal post you all set up. We want to move em, and start the conversation in the accountability aspect of things, I'll back you 100%. It's pitiful. That isn't what we were talking about. Yesterday and this morning, I come to this board and I hear mention after mention about Langsdorf and his playcalling and hardly word one about the sh#t effort by the players, especially the offensive line. I've given more than enough examples contrarty to the idea of putting it all on Langsdorf's play calling. I can give more too. Now as far as accountability. I'd say it's more than pathetic that the same guys continue to take the field and act like they don't want to hit somebody.

Didn't watch the game yesterday (was buying a car- which from the sounds of the game might've been the more enjoyable of the two options) but this is just pathetic. Been seeing these kinds of missed opportunities all year post BYU. The best our receivers played was in week 1 and it has seemingly been down hill from there You should see the guaranteed Touchdown Jamal Turner gave up on. Tommy threw it on the money but Turner quit on the route and couldn't recover in time. Damn Tommy and Langsdorf though! In fairness these types of balls are dropped in the NFL all the time. Turner was slowed down by a hit before he "gave up" on the route, and had to adjust and relocate the ball. Yes his effort is lacking on many plays, but that was not one of them (although I initially thought it was). I can't make the GIF any bigger. The only contact Turner gets on the play is when he reaches out and tags the defender on the way by. The defender didn't initiate any contact. Had Turner continued at his initial speed, the defender was out of position and would never have been able to recover. Instead, like I said, Turner slows down and tags the defender on his own as he runs by. Just goes to show. You can break down a play, make a GIF of it and view it a thousand times, and someone can still interpret it wrong. You are wrong Zrod.
  14. That's what I said. Haven't you been reading my posts? It's all Langsdorfs fault. Effort and execution is piss poor. On a serious note, if you don't hold these players accountable, the weak ass effort will continue. So you're right, that is an issue as well. These boys deserve some critique for their own effort though.
  15. That play is more than likely a TD if that guard actually gets in the way of that guy... Yea, except theres a block downfield on the Northwestern MLB that instead of engaging them and finishing a block, we just kind of dive at his toes? The MLB just brushes it off and might have been able to still easily make the play. Freakin' Langsdorf!

Would've been a beautiful touchdown pass. Instead Turner just quits? I can't explain what his thought process was or if there was one, but he just gave up on the route.
  17. I can't see the numbers. Is that Langsdorf dressed as the pulling Guard! If Langsdorf makes that block #34 is still running! Instead he tap dances around the Northwestern defender! Nice moves! Maybe that pulling guard should be moved to HB? Damn you Langsdorf!
  18. Why did Banderas let up though? It's like he could've full speed drilled the guy and instead he lets up and trips over himself.
