  1. I can't believe how much this is gunna hurt Germany come knockout round.. I see them getting out of group play pretty easy but come the elite games you need the elite players, tough tough blow.
  2. A new sound system should be one of the first things on tap.....
  3. @mmmtodd Definately!

  4. Isn't there also a change in not allowing wedge blocking anymore?
  5. For some reason they just never seem to fit right, large too big, medium is a compression shirt. But for some reason I buy them anyways
  6. Took the words out of my mouth. Personally I suggest going to Cliff's bar before the game, has a bunch of TV's and like every other bar it'f full of Nebraska fans and whatever opposing team fans as well, and you just can't beat the kamikaze's. I suggest the pain kiler, as it does just that. But yeah you really can't go wrong on gameday, I love going early just to walk around and take in the scenery. There's no such thing as a bad gameday.
  7. Wasn't it against Colorado after Lee tweeked his ankle?
  8. Don't be surprised if a very under-rated, very deep, talented Cornell team really takes it to Kensucky. If the Big Red don't win it will come as a surprise to me.
  9. If you can, take the guided tour. I go to UNL and the self guided tour all you can do is walk up to where the students sit and look at the field from half way up. But I do admit I still go up there every once in awhile cause i miss the stadium and go through withdrawls.
  10. I think a team can come in unmotivated if they had been screwed by something that landed them in that bowl. Albeit that wasn't the case on our part, but if a team was expecting to be in a certain bowl but got picked to a less inportant game against a team they don't think they should be playing against, that can mess with one's head IMO.
  11. Gotta be happy that they came out and fought like they did. Especially for being down 18 in the second half. Feel bad for Anderson going out on a season like this.
  12. Wow great defense. See ya next season Huskers!
  13. Coming out of this timeout we need to get a basket and a stop. Or this game may be over. Don't need a three, we just gotta get baskets and stops.
  14. Dias frustrates the living (insert desired word here) out of me. All I want, one time, please just one time, ONCE in your life... DUNK THE BALL. YOUR 6'11. I WILL CRY SEEING ANOTHER GIRLY LAYUP!
  15. Yeah I was curious about Standhardinger as well... Was it me or was he just in sweats?? Maybe deciplinary reasons, Doc has always been strict about his rules. (which is a good thing) Where was this team all year? They came out aggressive and took control of that game from the very begining, and it was a very impressive effort as a team. It also helped that we shot 60% for most of the game but even if we shot 40%, we would have been right in the game. Very good win for us, and if they can carry the momentum to tomorrows game and win, (I don't see them beating Kansas) but man it would end the season for them on a high note. It's too bad they lost so many otherwise they could have been playing for an NIT bid right now.
  16. Maybe this kid is good.. But if he flops he just confirmed our thoughts of Doc being a bad recruiter.
  17. plays on a team that doesn't need him to be "that guy." he has a completely different role to fill there than he would have here. what you need to look at are his percentages and ability - i'd say 50% from 3 point line and 10 3s in a tourney game is decent ability Are you saying they are sitting a "go to" player because they don't "need him"? They are so stocked that they can just sit "go to" guys? Really? Hmm, checking the Memphis stats, I see he is actually playing the 2nd most on the team... So he sits for a total of roughly 9 minutes a game... i will say that post I made regarding his career was for 2008 season.. This year he is averaging 11.2 At no point he said they were sitting him. He just said that he doesn't have a role that makes him be the go to guy and the shooter of the team. HIis role is to create mainly for Colemon. Williams would be considered the go to guy for Memphis. True, my mistake! I will just say I am not one that thinks.. "one more player and we are set. Sallie or not". It is my opinion we need several. We will never make much noise without an inside force! I am not sold on Doc. I see numerous things that have not changed one bit since he got here. There's no doubt Sallie would help out the team, even if you don't think the 11.2 ppg is that impressive, it would have still been an unbelievable addition for this offense. And I agree with you, Elliot Williams is the guy for Memphis, Sallie and the others jsut compliment him.

It all comes down to one thing. How good of a recruiter the coach of a program is. Like bball said, their assistant coach has crazy connections with AAU teams.
  20. Few thoughts from the last couple of posts.. 1. After this season I would consider Doc on the hot seat going into next season. 2. we can talk all we want about how if we dished out the money a "good" coach would come here. Remember in the football forum when we were all laughing about how Kansas expected to bring in a big time football coach and how they were upset with the hiring of Gill? It's the same thing on our side for basketball. Until we have some success, we can't expect to get a high calibur coach with the ability to bring in big time recruits and compete in the conference. Until then, expect little known coaches that have only proved they can do a mediocre job at a low level school. That's no diss on Doc but it's the truth. 3. Personally, I think Colorado is going to come in and win by 10-15. I don't see anybody really playing with the "passion" and the i'm not going to loose mentality, except for Anderson, kids on fire lately. You can see that alot of people have given up, I think Henry did 17 games ago. Because really there is nothing to play for except pride, and I don't see that yet with this team. But maybe they can prove me wrong. Injuries aside, I refuse to buy into the thought that next year is going to be a breakout year until it happens. There will be alot of pressure on Doc, people will be a year older but until someone really steps up they don't have anyone who is going to step up and be a scoring threat, especially with Anderson gone. McCray will help but looking into my crystal ball I still think things will be extremely hard come next season, unless Doc can actually get a game changing recruit this off season. I'm setting the over under at 5 conference wins next year, and as of now i'm taking the under. But i guess if they win more than one game its an improvement right?
  21. Last nights game was Nebraska basketball to a T. Always seem to be playing for only 25-30 minutes a game and not a full 40. I don't see them winning another game this season, I think that was their last legitimate chance to get that treasured 2nd victory in Big XII play.
  22. The thing about home-grown kids in the midwest especially Nebraska, not that many D-1 players come out of our state, and the ones that have he has failed to get. Not that Matt Hill is anything to be head over heels for, but he chose to sit the bench at Texass for four years instead of come here and actually play. I just think him and the staff are recruiting in the wrong direction. I agree with you about Maric, but man was he hot and cold. But a solid player none the less. And as you said he wasn't his recruit. I just don't think he is going in the right direction. I think at the end of the year, injuries and all considered, I think Tom needs to have a sit down with him and lay down some goals, because it's so embarrassing to think that a school of our size has only been to the tournament 6 times, and NEVER has won a game. Something has to give. Im all for building the new stadium and I want it to happen, but that can only do so much for potential recruits. He needs to start winning some games soon, or he is gone. Maybe get out and run every once in awhile, because from my observations, layups equal easy points. No one wants to play "lets walk the ball up the court everytime and go really really slow." And no one wants to watch that either.
  23. Isn't every year supposed to be Doc's breakout year? I think a lot of fans get excited for no reason because he brings in some foriegn recruits with a lot of hype (good players, but not game changers), but come on, NCAA championship teams are built around home-grown kids. Foreign basketball is a completely different game then American. I may be wrong but they won't see the tournament if this recruiting keeps up. Look at Kansas for example, recruits from Chicago, Philly, those are huge basketball cities, and kids that come from there are hard nosed and usually successful. I blame it all on recruiting. Maybe Doc's not the guy. ( I know comparing recruiting to Kansas recruits is was out there, but there has to be kids from those areas that don't get any offers.) And on a side note, even with a tainted 12-3 start, how could you think they could compete in the Big 12 when they get totally controlled by Saint Louis?? Plus, Sek Henry just needs to graduate already, he brings the team down with his attitude and always sub par play.
