  1. And there's a reason why it's called an "upset". It doesn't usually end up that way.
  2. i have to disagree with you there, because there should be an 8 team playoff and that way a loss would not necessarily destroy your season, but everyone deserving would get in to the playoff. also, after the playoffs, there could still be all of the bowl games for the teams who do not make the playoff. that is just what i think would be the fairest. On the other hand, a loss to NU would knock Texas out of title contention and they wouldn't be guaranteed a BCS bowl. NU, with 3 losses on their resume, would get an automatic bid. If Texas was in the MWC they would have already punched a ticket to Pasadena. Not everyone assumes the same risks.
  3. Why not just have it in New York City while we are discussing arbitrary locations that make no sense?
  4. If you mean last time we beat a ranked team or higher ranked team think back to Oklahoma a few weeks. If you're talking Vegas underdogs I don't know if we were a dog in that game or not. I'm thinking we were an underdog according to the Vegas people, but yes, this upset would be huge. According to the records I looked at: The last time a Nebraska team ranked lower than 10th defeated an opponent ranked higher than 10th -- Go back to 1977 when an unranked Nebraska team beat #4 Alabama at home Sounds like we are due for it then!! GBR throughout the years, since we began our decline (after 2001), we have not had a real signature win, we have not beat a highly ranked team, we have had no major upset. however, we have been close countless times but some freak occurrence secures the loss for us, or gives the other team the chance to win, which they end up doing. well, this is our time, now is our turn, and UT will never know they had it coming. You're a daisy if you do
  5. I have a prediction: I will be VERY upset if Texas loses on Saturday
  6. Well, here's your chance to take advantage of my ignorance. What would you like to wager? I'm good for it. Sorry, I don't gamble. Are you not backing away from your 0% chance statement? Because if you aren't . . . that's ignorance. Plain and simple. NU probably does not have a good chance to win the game . . . but to say that they have no chance shows that you know very little about football. I'll back away from a 0% chance. But only for the possibility of Texas' bus breaking down en route to Arlington
  7. This is the truth. They started going on sale the Thursday after we beat OSU and had a pretty good indication that we were going to win the south. However, unless you had the presale password for the following Monday, there wasn't anything better than upper level available when he market hit the general public.
  8. A word of advice: Avoid the party passes like the plague. They are NOT worth the price of admission. Plus, they all sold out and are getting $90 per on the open market.
  9. I didn't say that we shouldn't have a playoff. I'm saying that in the current format a non-BCS conference not having a shot at the title is no worse than a BCS conference team being denied.
  10. Any more fair than a non-BCS conference team (TCU) getting a nod over a BCS conference team (Cincy) to play in the BCS National Title Game?
  11. If a team having a top 3 offense and defense in all of college football doesn't constitute as "impressive", I don't know what to tell you. Good luck. I'll be the first to give props if you can pull it off. However, having watched NU play this season, put me in the "arrogant" category I suppose. 12. but it could be a 'trap' game in that the pressure of losing causes UT to lose, that have a lot to lose. it is not like 'Bama and UF where it will be like a national championship, if this game is close UT will be overshadowed by everything they have to lose when they thought it would be a stroll to the NC. not going to the NC, the embarrassment of losing to a down NU, all the hype, the heisman... that all adds up in the psyche. I always thought that a "trap game" was overlooking your current "weaker" opponent in order to play a game like you just described. Texas loses this game and they don't win the Big 12, don't go to the MNC title game and McCoy loses the Heisman. With regards to the latter, it isn't in the bag quite yet. Colt will be looking to impress to overcome the Tebow love. I honestly don't think that they are Mapquesting which In-n-Out Burger is closest to the team hotel quite yet. The a&m game was a fluke on a normally solid defense. Lee will not give us fits with his scrambling ability. IMO, your best shot is for your defense to force turnovers and give your O a short field to work with. FGs aren't going to cut it.
  13. Please go join a real conference. Thanks!
  14. Well, here's your chance to take advantage of my ignorance. What would you like to wager? I'm good for it.
  15. Our offense will need gift wrapped red zone turnovers to have any hope for scoring 10 or more points. Did any of you watch the TU/TA&M game last night? A&M moved the ball all over the Longhorns and I don't want to here how freaking much better A&M's offense is than ours, THEY SUCK PEOPLE!!! A&M has been the whipping boy for pretty much all the Big 12 south this year. I think Texas has shown several times this year that they can be very suspect and not the Goliath that some make them out to be. After watching last nights game, our D will give McCoy and Co. major fits next week. TU's defense was very susceptible to a good running game and our O is getting better. Either way, we almost always play them very close even when we were way down (07). I am hearing more and more commentators say that the Huskers have a legitimate shot at winning this. At the half of the Cinci/Illinois game they were talking about it and said that the Huskers could pull it off, especially after watching last nights game. aTm skill positions on offense >>> NU skill positions. No way to spin it sir . . . A&M's QB and WR's are wayyy better than ours. We will see!!! I'll take our record over theirs any day of the week, no way to spin that either. We can very well beat Texas and I am not the only one saying it by any means. I'm not saying that I don't think we have a shot to beat Texas. I'm just saying that if we do . . . odds are very good that we do it on the back of our defense . . . not on winning a shootout as Texas A&M almost did. I'll take Jerrod Johnson and the A&M receivers over Lee/Green and Paul/Holt/Gilleylen any day of the week. Granted, I'll give you that. What excited me though was how A&M ran the ball so well against them. If the Huskers can keep improving the ground game, it could get very interesting. Exactly. Unless NU switches to the option in the next week it's pretty moot. Their RBs had 1 good run.
  16. I'll be honest. I respect the hell out of NU. There is a 0% chance that we are going lose this game and I'm prepared to wager on that.
  17. They were both talented, but not as much as VY
  18. You left out an important stat: The time Texas' 1st stringers played vs. the time NU's 1st stringers played.
  19. I am unaware of this "T.U." thing. Can you enlighten me? t.u.: Derogatory name for The University of Texas at Austin, normally abbreviated UT, the main rival school to Texas A&M University. Aggies maintain that UT is "a" university in Texas not "the" university of Texas. The t.u. therefore stands for "texas university", with the lowercase letters being an added insult. t.u., whorns, sips/t-sips, UTerus...all "insults" from inferior schools. It's like me saying "Texas vs. The Bugeaters"
  20. Please don't stoop to the "t.u." thing. Your fanbase is better than that
  21. If anyone wants to trade their south side for my north side let me know
  22. I don't doubt that. A lot of Texas fans are pissed because they were expecting K-State and the ability to buy tickets where ever they wanted to for less than face outside of the stadium. NU actually travels and it won't be a "buy 1 get 1 free" market that it was thought to be. If you don't already have tickets, you are going to be doing some serious searching on game day. I bought tickets on the North side because of the above. Glad its NU fans around me instead of, let's just say, CU fans or something
