I'm sure I'm going to be in the minority here, but at least its more fodder to get us through the next few weeks... The NU Marketing department made 2 mistakes with the production and subsequent edit of their "Red-Out Around The World Video". Its a classic example of 2 wrongs don't make a right. Producing a hype video that closes by calling out one opponent midway through the schedule is bush league. It lowers our standard to an Army/Navy "one game on the schedule matters" level. Of course this isnt the intent, but it can (and was) perceived by the media and the opposing team's fans as hyping the game to compensate for being an inferior team. Now, before you misconstrue that statement, reread it. I'm not claiming we're inferior. I expect us to go into the 10-16 game as a favorite. I'm saying that the way it was marketed portrays us as an underdog. Nebraska - both the program and its fanbase - always expect to be competitive in any game. So, the past is the past and video is made and its out there for the world to see. So be it. Then comes the most bewildering move of all. At the request of Tom Osborne, the words "Beat Texas" dissapear from the end of the video. Are you kidding me? Thats like challenging the bully to a fight after school and then not showing up. While I certainly didnt agree with releasing the video in the first place...editing it after the fact makes us look worse in the media and to the opposing school's fans. It appears as though we can't back up our talk. There is absolutely no reason to remove that line. If it wasnt classy in the first place, its certainly less classy to not stick to your guns. It had since come out that the NU Marketing Dept made the video and that it wasnt cleared by Bo or at the very least, T.O. Really? Nebraska is what a top 10 revenue generating football program? And somehow the communication lines were faulty on this one? Frustrating. I can't wait to talk about an actual game...

That illustration summary was the funniest thing I've seen on this board. Husker fans who cant laugh at that need to relax. Keep that stuff comin...please!

Why wouldnt that guy be ahead of henery? He has a better percentage and more points...and punting doesnt factor into how you rank a kicker, it only factors into how you rank a punter. 2 separate positions. I'm a huge Alex fan, but the numbers dont lie. The only thing he has on the Mizzou kid is the 50+ kicks.

Back to the Basics? I dont know how much more basic you can make the offense right now, unless you run a qb sneak every play.

Check some highlights...he runs a 4.4 and has a rocket...some were projecting him as the #1 qb in this years draft had he entered.

I was really hoping he'd go pro, that guy could give us fits next year...This game will another chance for a big non-conference statement win.

Hey fellas, first post here, really dig about 25 percent of the posters...Good discussion on wats... I've debated long and hard about Wats, and I believe I can state a pretty good case for him to go. I think the offensive ineptitude we're observing is a direct result of Wats being removed from the Callahan umbilical cord. In contrast to the above statement, I will give credit to Callahan for the offensive success of our team the last 4 years. He was brought in here to redefine our football team, and as we've witnessed for better or worse, he succeeded. We had an offense that put up all kinds of gaudy passing stats...the problem was he wasnt cut out to be a head coach, maybe an offensive coordinator, but definitely not a head coach. So, we reverse course and a hire a defensive coordinator as head coach and figure "the offense aint broke so dont fix it". Well, like it or not we're now seeing the after effects of not having ol' Billy C at the helm of the offense. A year ago I might have agreed with the argument that Bo needed to get his offensive recruits in place, but I dont buy it now. Evidence: How else do you explain a defense going from bottom 20 to top 20 in 2 years other that coaching? Likewise, how do you explain an offense going from top to bottom other than coaching? We're definitely not getting the cream of the crop in terms of offensive recruits, but were not scraping the bottom of the barrel either. How many of us were saying we had no talent on Defense 2 years ago? "Talent" is not near as important as recognizing your potential.
