Hey Huskerboard! I just moved to socal, and the game is of course airing here at 9am local time. There are plenty of great watch sites down here, but because of the early start, many are closed.If need be I've found a local bar that opens at 10, but I'd love to be able to watch the game at home. Can anyone recommend any reliable online sources? I'm more than wiling to pay a credible site that wont overcharge my card. Have lived in Omaha all my life til now and have never had to deal with searching out the game...and this is a big one! Any help would be greatly appreciated! GBR!

I like the call. I'm sure someone can contribute the stats of Rex's ypp on the Wildcat. I cant recall him every losing yardage from the Wildcat. Reed whiffed on that block, but the call was sound.

Reminds me of Jacob Hester from LSU. Primarily a RB for LSU, and now is FB for San Diego. I really think Rex is making a name for himself as a potential 5th/6th round pick. He's not an NFL RB, but he shows the drive and effort to contribute in a special teams/backup role.

Jacob Tamme filled in for Clark and was very successful. I think McNeil has to think about claiming a roster spot before he can be the heir apparent to one of the best in the league...

Isn't it pretty common knowledge that there were players using steroids during the 90's? I would venture to guess 70-80% of D1 schools have players who commit "major" infractions - its just a matter of who gets caught.

First you hassle our girl Marin and now you slander Verne? While it irks me that he is basically the voice of the SEC, the man could make a coin toss sound epic. He is the James Earl Jones of college sports announcers. That man is holy ground, my friend. I am with you 100% on Craig James. Glad to see someone came to Verne's defense! He is obviously my favorite because he's my uncle! He's been a part of some great calls through the years, and is a great guy with a ton of funny stories about a lot of the others mentioned in this thread.

I don't think anyone suggested that we should lose the Big 12 Title game, I think the observation was just being made by the OP that if we were to lose, we would most likely get paired with a superior opponent in our bowl. Observation does not = endorsement.

I'm as big of a Rex fan as they come. In fact, during the non-con games last year I even started a rex burkhead chant in the stadium that (sort of) took hold. He's a solid performer. In a two year career, I can think of one fumble and one huge dropped pass. other than that he's money. Doesn't change that the picture is hilarious though. Grain of salt people, grain of salt.

I think you misunderstand the Zone Read. It's not like Taylor can INTEND to give Roy/Rex the ball more often. The whole point of the play is that the QB reads a key player on the D Line - typically either the End or Tackle, depending on where the blocking scheme wants the play to go - and if that read shows keep, he has to keep the ball. The problem Taylor is having is not in his intentions or his reads, it's in the way they're defending the play. Since SDSU our opponents have been loading the box on the Zone Read, committing the End to the RB and a CB and a Tackle (in the event our Center/Guard pulls) to Taylor. This means Taylor has a guy in his face immediately after keeping the ball, plus a guy on the second level waiting for his first move. At the same time the End is crashing down on the RB, with near-immediate contact. It's a well-designed scheme against the Zone Read, but it leaves the defense vulnerable against the pass - as Oklahoma State discovered to their chagrin. It was documented in some article (after the Texass game i believe) that people have been able to key in on martinez because he has been making the read before the ball is snapped based on alignment. So there are times that while it may look a read play, the "give" or "keep" is predetermined (by design). While this makes the play somewhat less effective, I understand why the coaches have him do this - it keeps the "bookwork" at a minimum for a freshman. Of course there are times when he makes the read in-play, but after watching zac lee run the zone read play this year, I would argue that he is actually better at making the proper read. The only problem he doesnt have the speed to pick up more than 6 or 7 yds, whereas T-mart can take it the distance. Just an observation.

I agree with you that the thread title is a little overboatd, but the last time everyone was riding Nile's ass he had a huge game. Maybe its for the best. Niles in about 11 1/2 hours you have something to prove. Put that chip on your shoulder and have another game like you did last week. look, I was the first guy to call my buddies "niles paul" when they dropped everyday ordinary stuff on the ground, but all Im saying is...its gameday, lets show Niles and the rest of the team support! Not to befuddle the point....but i just watched a 3rd and 5 play where we had 3-2-6 look with Cameron Meredith at LB. Those crazy brothers...

I thought the same thing, but we're talking 1TE 2RB 2WR sets. Not exactly typical Dime package material. I think what this really tells us is that they are VERY committed to stopping the big play. And, hey, if it works against a back like Thomas, more power to them.

Ok, I know I'm late getting to this but I'm watching the K-state game right now getting amped for tomorrow. I'm noticing that Gomes is lined up alongside David at LB, with Prince and Dennard covering the outside receivers, Hagg covering the slot/TE and PJ smith and Thenarse at safety. Anyone else notice this? They are also running Prince on corner run-support blitzes and leaving safety help behind.

Kinda seems like one of those classic Osborne remarks, where he makes fun of someone, and everyone responds with a double take. I'll admit that quote threw me for a loop, but once I consulted the Tao of Dr. Tom, I realized that was just a classy "presser send-off" way of saying that the University will miss the historic and long-standing rivalries that we will lose with our jump to the Big-10.

Ok, so we've blown out a .500 Pac 10 team with a top-25 win, struggled with an FCS school, and handled a WAC and Sun-Belt team. Great rushing offense, great scoring offense, lackluster passing offense. Great Pass defense, great scoring defense, average run defense. We average 4 fumbles a game. I would have us at 9 or 10, with Oklahoma, Auburn, and Arizona all with a better resume to this point. Your input?

My girlfriend and I are in Seattle through this thursday, and have had a great time so far! Met a lot of great Husky fans, and I can honestly say that it was the loudest stadium I've ever been to. Thanks for the hospitality! BTW - I wish Memorial Stadium had a boat dock outside of it!

I'll preface this by saying Im definitely NOT a negative nelly...I've been blown away by the team so far this year...but here goes- Defensively, we are fine. Bo and Carl have proven that they can out-coach and and out-scheme anyone in the country as long as the players execute, and player execution has been outstanding for the last, well...year and a half (even momentary defensive lapses last year would have been nullified by a reasonable offensive output). I'm happy giving up 170 rushing yards if we can hold passing yds under 100... Offensively - Believe it or not, I have some concern here. We're setting the world on fire right now running a Shotgun Zone Read look as our base offense. Its awesome, and I'm as big of a Martinez fan as you'll find (I even have a "T-Mart" shirt!), but i have some concern schematically given Watson's propensity for the ill-timed boneheaded play call. Once we see a stout defense (see: Texass), their athleticism is going to nullify the big play. I highly doubt youre going to see T-mart/Helu/Burkhead bust a 50 yarder on a D of that caliber. So, what do you supplement it with? My hope is that we're setting up some play action off the zone play thats been so successful up to this point. I dont think deep balls are necessarily the answer like some have suggested, but some degree of respect for the passing game needs to be established. I just don't see us running the zone play at will against those guys. Hopefully we can still run it up Kstates gut and can save those looks for Oct 16.

Yeah, it was that loud. Im a musician who plays loud music for a living and I had to wear earplugs during the game. The fans were loud - it wasnt all the stadium. You combine intense fans with a metal overhang that makes the sound reverberate back onto the field - and you have a recipe for a loud stadium.
