  1. Strictly defensively, I'd be happy with the same production. If you count the whole team, our offense has to be better healthy and with depth on the OL. As a team, I have no doubt that we'll be better. We may need to score more to win though.
  2. How about that block at 1:25? Would make Eric Martin proud lol
  3. I can't even imagine how rediculously hot black turf would get during the summer. It would melt your skin off whenever you went down. I voted for the way it is now. It brings a modern look to Memorial, and I think it looks pretty sharp.
  4. I'm betting he commits on the spring game visit. Once he sees that, he'll be hooked, and it fits his timeframe for committing.
  5. I don't personally remember him, but I always hear that Deangelo Evans would have been the "standard" for all future NU backs to compare to had he not been injured. Recently, Blake Lawrence and Jaivorio are good examples. Especially Blake, nice kid, did everything right, just one of those things no one can control. Herian is my all-timer that I remember though, he was great before he got hurt. Came back OK, but never hit that level again.
  6. true, but I'd rather have him play under our coaches than theirs. But, at the same time he could probably start, or at least be a solid contributer in Ft. Scott - an excellent JUCO program. His year at FS could net him 200 minutes of playing time, where he'd be lucky to get 20 his first year in NU's program. If he plays at FS, he'll have 200 minutes of game-time experience going into his sophmore year (assuming he redshirts when he gets to NU). If he redshirts at FS, he'll have maybe 20 minutes going into that sophomore year - most against sun belt teams which are nearly the equivalent to those JUCO programs anyway, and/or on special teams. Good point, never crossed my mind. If you think about it... He starts, or even gets meaningful minutes as a 3rd DT, then he gets some quality minutes playing college level athletes in game situations. Then redshirt up here his first year to get bigger/stronger, while learning the system and playing on scout team against starting OL. As opposed to sitting out at FSCC, not playing game snaps, and practicing against JC competition. Then comes up here for his first year without a redshirt, but is he really going to get snaps with Stein, Moore, Crick, Guy, Rome, Randall all having at least a year in the system? If he's not going to play anyway, he may as well play for FS, because he is going to be scout team most likely anyway. And if he IS good enough to start/play for NU right away, why would FSCC coach let him RS? +1 for KC for bringing this up.
  7. So he's a 3/3 guy or 3/2?
  8. I don't agree with the bolded. MU's record may have gotten better as the season went on . . . but that is because of a decline in the competition played and not because of an increase in Missouri production. The three toughest games on Missouri's conference schedule were right in front: NU, UT, OSU. After those games Missouri played Colorado, Baylor, Kansas State, Iowa State, Kansas, and Navy. I would fully expect Missouri to look better playing those teams than when they played NU, UT and OSU . . . but Missouri still managed to: 1. lose to Baylor at home, 2. squeak out a win against a BAD Kansas team, and 3. get absolutely manhandled by an undersized Navy team. That's hardly what I'd call "playing better as the season went on." Explain yourself Fro! I would respond with "did you watch us play our first 4 games!!??" Ill. was the only game we played well and they proved to be a real stinker. We played like doggy poo against Bowling Green, we were not at all dominant against Nevada and Furman...well they are Furman. Mu was way more consistant later in the season, but even that wasnt very consistant. They struggled against the 3 best teams they played and didnt bother to show up in Houston. (BTW that was about the most embarassed I have ever been as a MU fan and I have see my teams get destroyed over the years.) But gabberts injury had alot to do with performance in 2 of those games. MU was never gonna win that Texas game. Trust us Fro, nobody in the BXII was going to beat Texas. No matter what
  9. See thats part of the game though. I could sit here and say well if MU didnt blow coverage then paul doesnt score and NU punts again. now 20-12. Oh and if the two mu defenders that could have/should have picked off pauls second td do, then its 13-12, but if that ball is picked on that quick out that close to the goal, probably goes for 6 so now its 19-13 MU. Oh, but if those two scores dont happened there is never any NEbraska momentum and MU never is forced to throw in a noah like rain with a gimp QB. so now its 19-0. Wait...I LIKE THIS GAME. There is a story out somewhere that Osborne was watching film with Watson before that game and noticed when there was a combination of the two routes Paul and whoever the under reciever was ran, that the MU safety would creep up to the short route, leaving the inside throw to Paul open. Right after the 3rd quarter ended, Osborne stuck his head in and told Watson "You still have that play". If that is true, then it wasn't a blown coverage, but one of the greatest offensive minds in football calling out an opening in the defense. and so was baiting an agressive defense to over react on a goal line play. Great offensive mind out smarting the defense. Lets not kid ourselfs. The purpose is to trick the defense/offense in to giving you something you want. I.E. Play action, double moves, zone blitz, etc... For every event you twist in your favor you have to give up something else. Bo can moan all he wants about a blown assignment, but thats what a great play fake and call will get you. Just like a slack post on an agressive safety. Harrision should have been in perfect postion if he did what he was supposed to, but he didnt and it was TD. Really the only thing your post proves is that Bo and Wats need TO to hold their hand and do their job for them Even if they do, at least they are willing to put aside the ego and get the W lol

  11. Explain? For being a FR in the MNC game, I thought he looked fine against Bama.... Give him a full season under center, without the headlights/"Oh crap I have to play", he will be fine. Not the same offense as with McCoy, but they'll probably be more balanced which makes them better overall. I can't agree with that. How many teams have a better offense with a true sophomore quarterback replacing a multi-year Heisman trophy candidate? They might be more balanced but I doubt they will be better. (especially considering McCoy was statistically one of the best quarterbacks in college football history.) He was their offense though. When we played, they ran the RBs 21 times for 38 yards. That's less than .5 yards per carry. Against Bama they ran 28 times for 81 yards. Not much better. We/they knew they were going to throw. McCoy was great, bu this last season their offense was missing a running game. Maybe the word "better" was the wrong one. I meant tougher to defend from a DC's standpoint. I think with McCoy gone and Gilbert more of a drop back passer, they'll get away from the spread a little bit more, and their running game will get better. As many 5* RBs and OL as they have, there's no excuse for them to have an awful running game, and they shouldn't. If you have to respect the run, the pass is tougher to guard. With our DL that may not be the case as no one was good at running on us, but against all competition, the balance I think they'll start to get back will make them harder to guard, possibly better as an offense. I agree with 90% of what you said here. However, the loss of your passing game doesn't necessarily indicate that your running game will be better. In fact the opposite could be true. If Texas is less of a threat through the air teams can stack the box against the run. Texas is the perfect example of why recruiting rankings aren't always correct. On paper . . . they should be amazing across the board: defense/passing/rushing etc. Gotta throw one more punch in here, while agreeing with you. The only thing I have left to add in my argument's defense is this... How much do you think Texas practiced running the ball last season, in relation to the passing game? They were more "West Coast" than Cally ever was, because they always used the short passing game. If they think they are going ot have problems throwing, they are going to focus on running. When you have McCoy, they are fine-tuning the passing, and hoping it opens up the run game, much like I'd expect KSU practices running more than passing and hopes it opens up the less polished pass. The example I'll use is two seasons ago with Ganz at QB. We tried the power run game at the beginning of the season. We failed with it. When we went more spread the offense opened up and our rushing was much more effective, and our passing game improved because of it. Texas now HAS to sit down and take a hard look at it like Watson did, and figure out why theirs isn't working, because they don't have a golden arm/hands to get them down the field (McCoy/Shipley). I can't imagine if Watson can figure it out, that Texas can't But, I could be 100% wrong and they always focused on the run game knowing that McCoy would have the passing game down pat and it still sucked. You never know. It's one of those interesting twists next season will take in the BIG XII.

Not the same offense as with McCoy, but they'll probably be more balanced which makes them better overall. We'll see. He showed some poise late in the game, but he was 15-40 with 4 interceptions. I just know I feel more confident about Nebraska playing Texas without McCoy, and I think other Big XII teams will also. His poise came once he got acclimated. We give Cody Green the benefit of the doubt because he was thrust into games "un-ready" and "green" as a FR. We never tried to put him in in the MNC. There is no way that kid was even remotely mentally prepared to play in that game, and no one on Earth can blame him. McCoy going down was never even an after thought. It showed and he came out looking completely lost, but once it sunk in during halftime, he came out more effective and they were in position to win the game. He also had like 8 dropped in the first half including a TD IIRC, even Shipley was dropping them. The pick 6 at the half was Brown's fault, should have been kneeled. At that point, Bama could pin their ears back and not worry about the run AT ALL, so I'd expect his numbers to be a little ugly. He also wasn't scared to go deep, and was fairly accurate doing so given the pass rush and Bama knowing they had to. McCoy didn't go deep very often, and as all Husker fans know the last couple years, it only takes 1 or 2 deep balls to change a game. If we were his first game or two, I'd be giddy about it, but we play him after a couple games. On top of that, he'll get all the snaps leading up to it, and all the snaps in practice. I'm sure McCoy got nearly every snap all season, so he should make strides this offseason. That said, I'd definitely rather play him than McCoy, and since we had McCoy looking the way Gilbert did in the MNC when we played them in the BIGXII CCG, I can't imagine this kid in his first year starting will look any more poised against us unless our Dline is worthless.

  15. Section 1 Row 17. Computer froze trying at 8:00, so I had to go find another one and it took 20 minutes. Last year we had exactly 50 yard line on the west side, row 25. Perfect seats. And I'm taking my gma this year, she hasn't been to a Husker FB game in over 20 years that I know of.
  16. Notre Dame's rivals board is supposedly saying they have backed off of him for the most part. They all expect him to be 'N'.
  17. Florida had a huge day yesterday. Just imagine if Chris Martin was still committed. For what it's worth A-Rod held his own very well against this guy in the Army game. Not saying that Floyd isn't good, but that A-Rod is as advertised He manhandled the Alabama DT commit. GBR!!
  18. Hmmm, Marlowe and Heard look awfully close. A little too close? I'm glad you said it. I thought the picture looked a little..........wierd. All 4 of them. Guys, be careful. You don't know who looks at these boards. I am sure you are just KIDDING!!!!, but please don't go there. We are hoping for him to choose NU not choose UWV. I am happy he was hanging with some impact freshman on our team. Let's hope he doesn't have those same friendships at UWV. Let's work together and not push him away. I am sure Bo trusted Marlowe to hang with him an show him around. This trip was taken on a non-game weekend, so the level of excitement is not the same as game day. Hopefully we get a decision soon since Braylon knows he can come in a compete for carries early. S Agreed. They went to the same high school and played together before I'd assume. Like everybody in here hasn't taken a picture with a buddy when they have their arms around each other... I was only commenting on it because I pictured him as being like 6'4 250 from the way he looks in his Rivals account picture. The fact that he is that close to Marlowe is a great thing for us, as I'm sure he can tell him everything he needs to hear to get him here.
  19. I guess that answers the question on if Braylon was in town. Hopefully it went well. Let us know how he liked it. S super sick pic!!!! yeah i think things went well...... lets just hope our boys did a good job convincing him... hanging out with braylon's old teammate back in the day hopefully helped...... cant underestimate that cruising chill time recruits have with players.... basiclly i think they are the ones that might truly seal the deal..... i think we have a good shot... very cautionious though and dont want to get too excited He's just a little guy, huh? I got the impression from previous posts that he was a big bruising back. But he's smaller than Marlowe. But now I finally watch his video and he just leaves people. Would be a great compliment to Burkhead's power running. Definite deep threat. I'll take him either way.

  21. Can anyone see what Scout says about his timeframe? Teaser says he talks about his list and has an in-home with Bo set up and has a timeframe now. The fact that Stoops left AZ should leave them out, and ND seems to be late to the party, but you never know with them. And the Zooker is in trouble. Hopefully his timeframe is quick, and we are the team to beat. Bo needs to seal this kid up.
