  1. 2600 could very well be the post# - is this like Price is Right where they couldn't go over w/ their guess? 27 minutes
  2. Cooper took us up to 1407, now if we can get Owa... saw that earlier. They calculate the average stars off the entire class, not just the top 20. That affects my calculations some because those 2*s don't drop off completely.
  3. Anyone hearing anything on Simek? It might be easier to find out his status and put two & two together than make assumptions about Owa's.
  4. i can't understand any of these kids on 1620. bunch of mumbles...
  5. I have a denial of service application written and ready to deploy. In the even that Owa doesn't choose NU I intend on taking my nerd rage out on Huskerboard by bringing down the servers for the rest of the afternoon.
  6. someone just emailed 1620 and said coaches told them they'll take Simek because Owa has told them they aren't the school. smoke there's fire.
  7. That's actually good news if true. We either get Simek or Owa. We have quite a few DE's already, so taking an OL might even be better for our depth. Well, nothing to do but wait it out and read the unending stream of rumors. Current Class: 1425 With Owa: 1700 With Owa & Simek: 1754 With Simek & no Owa: 1479
  8. because at least as of this hour - we know he's told people of his decision. the coaches know at this point...so leaks should quickly follow.
  9. agree - this was one I was hoping would come in early. starting to sweat...
  10. yeah, i'd go that far as well. si.com is not a recruiting publication that thrives on misinformation.
  11. Assuming he signed, it puts us at 1425 points in the Rivals team rankings w/ our current commits FWIW
  12. he'll wait, i don't expect his to come in until later in the day. He wouldn't wait all this time then tip his hat 2 hours before he announces.
  13. Only confirms what history teaches us again and again and again, regardless of how cool our coach is. Whats that? That this is still undefeated... UCLA chearleaders think Owa will have them #2 on his final list. I'm going w/ that.
  14. I'm shocked as well, but if this proves to be true (and Bo really was as angry as we all thought) - then this goes to show you how Bo is maturing as a "head" coach and CEO of this team. He's not above the team himself, and if he knows that having Brion on the roster is what is best for the team...then for him to swallow a little pride, get his emotions in check and handle this professionally says a lot about the progress he's made in 2 years. All speculations of course - but I don't think he would have made this move 2 years ago, regardless of what's best for the team.
  15. still won't have a defense. nor time to throw the ball more than 7 yards downfield.
  16. If thats true does that increase our odds of getting Owa? Would Owa choose NU knowing he will have an outstanding Saftey in is backfield? seen this discussed a few times in various posts. my opinion is normally it would have a slight affect one way or the other if other blue-chip recruits were committed to the class. he's said before his class will have some impact on the decision he makes. I take that to mean the quality of the class. However, at this point it's too late in the game. If we were sitting here w/ a 5 star QB, stud safety and a couple of linebackers that were projected NFL draft picks then I could see it having an impact. But, he knows what our class looks like. With or without Cooper it won't change the overall class much. likewise, our class isn't miles ahead of either UCLA or OSU...nor is our class miles behind either so I'm guessing we are pretty well even on the quality of class component in his spreadsheet.
  17. since you're 18 it all depends on how hot you are...
  18. Yeah. I know these coaches are being very respectful of the recruits and their future...but it's obvious they should have pushed Brion harder. I see NO reason why they should have told Fajardo not to come. Except, that the "entire" staff wasn't on board. If they liked him so much they should would offered him and seen which committed first. I'm starting to think maybe the "entire" staff wasn't as on board with Cody as we have been led to believe. Cody didn't have to rush to secure that spot at Nevada. He could still be uncommitted and on his way to Lincoln, but he's not...which leads me to believe we teased him a little bit, but never put on the full court press. Some of this could have been because they thought Brion was "silently committed" but with this staff and the way they treat recruits who take additional visits (which Carnes still was doing) then I see no reason why they wouldn't have been still pursuing Cody if they all really wanted him.
  19. Really don't believe in this but we may have no choice. Who's the 2011 starter going to be? Is Green (a project) going to morph into a starting caliber QB by then? Anyone's guess because he's got a LONG, LONG ways to go, 4 star recruit or not. Is Spano going to ever recover from the injury and develop more? Or are we going to turn to a true freshman who is a project as well? I'm not going to count Marsh or Taylor because they would be huge surprises at this point, to even be playing the position by then. Basically, it doesn't look too good right now, and having another potential option in the mix like Cody would be a significant boost to our chances of finding a guy, or a good backup I'm going to take Green's offensive struggles this year w/ a grain of salt. The entire offense struggled throughout the season, so relative to everyone else he was on par and there are some talented players on that team. Helu looked downright pathetic in a couple of games this year. Freshman making an impact is not unheard of but rare, and usually when it happens they are put in a much better position to succceed than we put Cody in this year. I will absolutely save my judgement on the kid until after next year. Get him into a consistent system, where the paybook and philosophy isn't changing week to week, the offensive line holds up and the ground game can be relied on and he might be a completely different QB. Lee looked pretty good when the offense was clicking against AZ, but just as bad in games where it wasn't clicking. I don't like that everyone has already written Cody off as a bust already. He hasn't even really been coached yet. Let the staff do it's thing first. There is somewhat of a difference between Lee struggling despite being a talented passer, and Green showing that he has a long way to go. I do take his freshman year performance with a grain of salt: he was unfairly thrown into the fire, and is just a true freshman. But that said, he's a true freshman with a long, long, long way to go in terms of development, and he was not "on par" at all. If he had been a mid 3-star, people would probably not be just assuming he'll progress every year in leaps and bounds, get the offense down, and evolve into a spectacular pass-run threat. The only reason people suspect that, I think, is his 4-star touted status coming out of HS. I'm not making a judgment either way or the other though: just that with Cody, we do not know what we're going to get at this point. I'm not writing him off as a bust, but I am pointing that we've got nobody we can count on right now to be our 2011 starter. That's why I will disagree heavily with people saying we don't need a QB this class, as if we've got guys lined up and waiting in the wings. We don't. We might discover them later, but right now, 2011 is looking real, real shaky at the most important position on the offense. I respect that, but if we are looking for our 2011 guy, then we are obviously looking for someone that excedes the tallent, maturity, potential and intelligence of the QBs we have on the roster currently, because each would be competing for that same spot in 2011. I'm guessing that those left out there (Fajardo included) probably can't excede the current quality of QB's on our roster (or have the potential to do so), so why take one? If the coaches have evaluated the remained targets, and determined that it is not likely they would be able to beat out Martinez, Spano, Green and Kellogg then taking a QB just for the sake of having one in the class is not helping the situation one bit. Depth, in my opinion is not a problem right now. Quality depth perhaps...but having another freshman on the roster will not help that, and in 2011 depth won't be an issue either because we will have the same 4 guys we have now...and each will have another year under them. The quality of depth at that point, as well as the competition for that starting spot will be unlike anything we've had at NU in a long time.

  21. good work.. but i really am not worried that we arent winning the FB friend battle. Ha! Pretty solid detective work. I thought I saw Quincy Enunwa was a friend... You guys are correct Enunwa is as well, I mispelled his last name when searching. Eric Martin is up there as well like someone else said. I went back a few years on UCLA's roster and there were another 4-5. I'm pathetic I know, but after tomorrow I can go back to getting work done, the next 23 hours will be a waste though.
  22. good work.. but i really am not worried that we arent winning the FB friend battle. haha, me either. I was a little worried at a few of the OU coeds' profiles that were on there. How could you choose NU over this? SMOKIN HOT! - I think I'm going to commit to being their waterboy tomorrow.
  23. so, with a day left and desperation setting in I decided to browse Facebook. Call me a creeper if you will but I DID NOT FRIEND HIM. I did check through is friend list because a while back girlknowsfootball mentioned that he was friending all the NU recruits. I didn't check back then, so I'm assuming that "all the NU recruits" meant more than 1. Looks like as of today he only has Yoshi on there. As for OSU recruits - 1. UCLA recruits, 4. Anthony Barr, Malcolm Jones, Cassius Marsh, Aramide Olaniyan. Either he was never adding NU recruits, or he removed the ones he added...but as of today we're not winning the battle of "facebook friends"
