  1. They did have over a 50% completion percentage. That is more than we can say for another team we follow. Nearly as many yards also. I just don't think Ohio has the right "personel." Isn't it all about personel.
  2. The offense is poor, but started showing signs of improvement. The defense has played great. I am a little concerned that there were times last game when we had problems stopping the run. They were knocking off 4,5,6,7,8 yds a pop. The D did step up and stop them when they needed to.
  3. Not bein' picky, but if NU goes 1-10, I think the Callahan era will be over... I agree, 1-10 would be a serious step backward from last year which was bad enough. I don't care what kind of recruiting classes you bring in. 1-10 would put us in the same sentence as Buffalo.
  4. You could very well be right. What's the rule on a redshirt, how many plays can Leon get and still have his redshirt available?? None, He can't play any. Unless your talking about a medical redshirt, but that has to do with season ending injuries. I think that is around 20 percent of your team's plays before you get hurt.
  5. I didn't think grix looked too bad returning punts. Definately better than last year. He just danced too much while Nunn got the ball made a move and took off.
  6. I agree. The way they do replays in the NFL works wonders. 2 replays... if you're wrong, you lose a time-out. A lot of those calls should not have been reviewed. You can't just say... oh that looks kinda close, let's review it. And 6 reviews in one game is ridiculus. They either need to get rid of replays altogether or switch to something like in the NFL.. this crap aint workin. The mountain west has a really good system this year, in my opinion. Each coach gets one challenge a half. If he makes a challenge and wins, he gets to keep the challenge for that half and use it again. Yeah, that sounds like a good system for sure. As far as the Nunn fumble. Fox gives them every angle they have to review the play. I'm thinking the officials might have a better view than the fans at the game or at home. It was close, but if they said his knee was down.. you can rest assured, it was. So officials never make the wrong call?
  7. Nunn's was a fumble aswell and would of been maines ball but the problem is it really has to be bad before they change it. No way, Eyeore. I was down in that endzone and his knee was down. How can u tell his knee was down from being there live. On tv we saw six different angles of the play in slow mo. We got away with one, but it was equalled out when we got screwed when their qb fumbled.
  8. Your right about the receivers, Hardy was the only one that looked good. Nunn only had 1 catch. Sievers looked fairly good. We got our TE's into it a little bit. I know we are depleted at receiver so hopefully it will improve as we get guys back. I was hoping we would throw more to our backs coming out of the backfield. Swing passes where it is one on one, screen pass, FB in the short flat, rb up the middle between the saftey and the lb's. Maybe billy c was holding the playbook back.
  9. On the positive side of the stats I think our return game was very good. We only had 1 kick off return that went for 43 yards. That is an improvement. Our punt return looked 100% better than last year also. We just need them to secure the ball.
  10. It didn't always go against NU. Nunn fumbled the ball out of the endzone. That was obvious, I donno what the officials were looking at. But the officials had a make up call screwing us out of a td when we got to their qb in the endzone. I guess the zebras traded 1 td for another.
  11. I thought our pass blocking was fairly good. Our run blocking wasn't . I think it is the whole line.
  12. Just curios besides the long ball on Wilson. How many yards did we give up through the air? That's right 99. That's not to bad if you ask me. Now that I have had time to mull over the stats, Maine had 1 receiver with 7 receptions. He only had 93 yards and I am assuming that 52? of them came on the td pass. Maine wasn't out there throwing bombs, they were out there throwing passes to move the sticks. That is what they did in the 1st half. Run for 3 or 4 yard, then throw a 7 yd out. 1st down do it again. I am not trying to be negative, I am looking for areas we need to improve on. Hopefully I am wrong, but I think this could be a problem the whole year.
  13. Taylor is definately an upgrade. He looked really good at times. I just wonder why he dropped off so much towards the end. I don't remember him throwing 21 incomplete passes. I know there were 3 or 4 that were dropped. A couple of them could have been td's.
  14. You are right, that is one position where we had talented depth. I thought rudd played a good game. Now the depth is gone. Maybe dillard will step up and we can have McKeon play both LB positions. Time will tell.
  15. Lets hope he kept the offense out or we are in trouble. If he did and we got a win, albeit not very pretty. If that was the full look for NU then it will be a long season. Might as well start getting excited about the new 06 recruits.
  16. Just curios besides the long ball on Wilson. How many yards did we give up through the air? That's right 99. That's not to bad if you ask me. The defense overall did very well. We had pressure on the qb. I am just evaluating the game. There were times when they had time to throw that made some completions against our db's. This was especially true in the first half. How many 3 and outs did our defense have in the first half. I know there weren't too many. That is evident by the time of possession from the first half. We made the TOP close because of our fourth quarter when we had some drives and chewed up the clock with Lucky left, Lucky right. What I am saying is if Maine is able to have some success what will happen against OU, ISU, CU, TT, KSU the DI teams with better athletes and players.
  17. We got Mike McNeil a TE to commit from this weekend. 3 stars.
  18. I agree with Bernard that the corners need some more work, especially Grix. When the QB had time he got picked on. Green did ok, they made some plays, but hardly any db looked for the ball when it was in the air. They faceguarded their receivers. We got lucky in that Maine receivers dropped a few passes that should have been caught. Didn't see a real hardhitting game out there. Didn't see anyone layin the wood. Disappointed we didn't cause more turnovers. Or at least get a pick in the Secondary.
  19. Losing SteveO really hurts. Anyone know the extent of the injury, I mean does it require surgery. Could this be anything like the Terrell Owens injury 8 weeks and he is back? Or is he definately done for the year and trying to rehab to get ready for spring ball?
  20. I agree. If we can't run it in from 1 yd out then we shouldn't be out there. There was enough time to run at least 2 running plays. Sounds like it would have been a good time to get Glenn in there.
  21. Instant Replay sucked. They missed 2 obvious calls. Nunn fumbled the ball through the endzone and the blackshirts sacked the qb and made him fumble in the endzone. 1 more td for the D. Instant replay only got it right 60% of the time. That is not a very good percentage if you ask me. Plus it added 10 minutes of delay time to the game. Get it right or get it out of there.
  22. I thought our cb's weren't very impressive. Especially Grixby. When the qb had time to throw the just kept throwing 8-10 yd outs towards grixby. Our pass defense over the middle was good though. Our outside needs some work. Running game sucked. Taylor showed some good signs, also made a few bad decisions. I thought hardy was a burner. How did he get run down on his long pass play. That ball was thrown perfectly, he caught it in stride and had a step on his man. Great play, but should have been a td. Impressed with the lack of penalties, but Turnovers Turnovers Turnovers. 5 in one game. 2 fumbles by Ross. That is unacceptable from a captain. Play calling was horrible. Why does he call the crap he does. Run in obvious passing situations and throw in obvious running situations. 1st and goal from the 1. Run the Damn ball. Red zone offense was pathetic. 1 offensive touchdown, which came after special teams ran the ball to the 1. 4 FG's congdon looked good, but missed his PAT Hopefully that is the last one. One last thing, that instant replay system is terrible. Nunn fumbled the ball, and the maine QB didn't have his Arm going forward. Take one touchdown away from the offense. Chalk up another touchdown for the defense. It should have been 0 td's for the offense and 12 points on fg's. 13 points for the defense. Looks like shades of 03 when the D carried the team. The offense has to improve and keep the defense off the field so much.
