  1. Look at Huskerjock go with all the updates today... where is nexus? He making you look lazy.
  2. Offense WR - I might put Henry before Cooper because he has been here 4 years and this spring so he may start in front of him, but Cooper will put on some pressure. Plus we will see some 3 and 4 WR sets that will get the guys some time in the game. OL - Mike Smith will be a back up at Guard is my guess, Cole Pensick is the back up center. Also as Knappic said Hardrick backs up a tackle. That leaves Qvale and Sirles as the other guys on the 2 deep, but I expect a couple of the other young guys to play as well. We have really gotten some depth here in the last couple of years. Defense DL - I would think Stein will be the 1st string with Moore as a back up and Guy/Rome redshirting. On the end I would bet on Jason Ankrah playing rather than Martin. I think Martin is listed as a DT anyways. CB - With all the talk of them nearly playing Andrew Green last year, my bet is he plays this year rather than Dijon Washington. Really I think a lot of guys will play, but I would put Green as the back up. Nice breakdown overall, made it easy for me to look at it and agree with 90% of it!
  3. http://www.burntorangenation.com/2010/4/1/1331635/2011-texas-football-recruiting-the He must of said no to Texas's offer Exactly. "No edge rush" let him break Reggie White's HS sack record didnt it? Maybe everyone else in the the best division of Louisiana's high school football leagues are just so slow that he doesn't need an edge rush. Perhaps in order to be the #2 DE according to Scout it requires that you overcome your lack of edge rushing ability by wishing the quarterback falls down and then it magically happens!
  4. It seems like our recruiting philosophy has been too offer anyone who looks like they would be good and then see their response. Of course we also go after the guys we really like really hard (see Turner, Moore, Williams).
  5. I would have to agree. That is what they recruited him as and what they want him as. Everyone is doubting his arm, but he had over 2600 yards passing and 442 rushing as a sophomore (when his coach wanted him to focus on passing). Then as a Junior his coach said your'e our best player go make plays and he had 1800 passing and 1800 rushing. Kid is a stud and he can throw the ball. It is tough for him not to run it though because he is the best player on his team and he plays for a very poor team in a very good high school football conference. He has to carry the team himself. All I'm saying is he can pass. The second QB is just extra to add competition, of course we want a 4 , but a 2 or 3 project kid is fine. Jamal's Junior year numbers: 2,063 yds. passing 68% comp. 2,032 yds. rushing 9.5 yds. per carry Jamal Turner 2009 Stats Sorry, I went off of rivals, i guess really this proves my point more thought, rather than 1800 and 1800 it was 2063 and 2032. Also notice is team was 3-7 despite his high numbers. He is his entire team (other than the WR there we would like to get as well). Imagine his stats, especially passing if he had the right guys around him.
  6. Oh yeah, talk about momentum. 7 guys who could all be 4 if the recruitniks rate them right... or at least 5.7 3 not that it really matters because Pelini will coach them up, but other recruits love to see they are going where other "good" players are going. Plus it makes us feel good to see lots of :star :star :star :star :star :star

  8. I think thats exactly what I just said...
  9. Here is the thread about it... * next to recruits Nexus is doing it for the players with no film so he can find them quicker.
  10. Link???? In the video above, the coach said that. I don't know how reliable... I kind of doubt it since Fl. has offered 3 DT's but didn't offer him and Alabama has offered 12 but not him. The coach said he talked to Fl and Al but then said many schools have him as #1, not specifically them. Which obviously they didn't. I did like that he will graduate early and be here in January and he is going into chemical engineering so he is probably pretty smart.
  11. "rail-thin" - that's always an encouraging assessment to read He's at least up to 170 now (according to rivals and scout), but at any rate I am not worried with Dobson on our staff. He will have him ready to go after a few months or (more likely) a redshirt season
  12. Good find as always. They make it sound like we left a really good impression and may be in the drivers seat. Perhaps a 1 and 1a with USC. It will all depend on how the USC spring game visit goes on May 1st. He said he will sit down with his fam after that and make a decision. Heres to us landing another big time d-line recruit the week of May 1st!
  13. Outrageous, sir! Another malicious smear in a Pelini campaign to undermine the superior genius of Kevin Cosgrove! Great some people will get upset about this now. You forgot I really like this kid and think he could be a top LB for this class. Hope we recruit him hard and pick him up. I heard he is going to visit sometime in the summer or fall.
  14. That sure seems to be the case and I hope you're right. Of course, there's a pretty good two word argument that taking leadership in recruiting doesn't necessarily translate into on field leadership and work ethic. Those two words? Harrison Beck. But I'll definitely give Jamal the benefit of the doubt until he gives us reason to think otherwise. I have no idea what you are talking about.
  15. I thought Vick was a 2012 kid? Vick is a 2011 kid.
  16. Easily a 4 star... maybe 5 lolz to the 5 star. he's not even in the Rivals250 to watch. if he's borderline a top 250 player, he obviously isn't in the top 30. i'm saying 50/50 on a 5.7 3 star or a 5.8 4 star. either way doesn't matter. he's only 16 so after a beastly senior season he'll be a 4 star Scout is only part way through their evaluations. I would be very surprised if he doesn't get a 4 star from them since he is on the ESPN 150 watchlist. On rivals I think he gets a 4 star as well because they are early in the process of evaluation. Look at his offer list and stat line. 157 tackles and 15 sacks as a Junior... 15 offers including Michigan, Wisconsin, Oregon, Stanford, Michigan State, Illinois, Kansas.
  17. :laughpound Sorry but that was epic. That's the new internet lingo right??? Without these guys, Chicago, Nexus and EZ, there isn't a recruiting section on this site. Again, sorry, don't know why, but your comment made me LMAO again. These dudes don't give a sh!t about being right or wrong, they're just husker fans on this site. I'm glad you got a laugh, that is what I was going for. Guess my job is done for today.
  18. You always need to recruit for the future but to say there is a considerable hole in the linebacking corps just isn't true. It's probably our youngest and deepest spot on the roster right now. I think you missed the "for the future" piece. Doesn't equate to "right now". I'm with you though - I'm really excited to watch our LB play this year (and next year). Where we had holes last year, the DL was able to be disruptive enough to compesate. This year it looks as though we'll be a more complete defense, but still be able to maintain that disruption. Really exciting. I really think for the future we need 2 quality LB's this year. I think our Peso guy comes in as a safety or large CB not as a fast LB. If we get 2 guys this year and they redshirt then they will be freshmen when Martin, Fisher, and Compton are Seniors which would be perfect. Of course if any of them step up big this year and next they could leave early and then this years guys would have to play. I say you take 2 this year and 1-2 next year. If Cole Fisher's knee holds up and we offer we should get him (5.7-5.8 player). I also like Townsend and Shazier. I would take this kid, but I don't think we have as good of a shot to get him.
  19. Great find. I really hope he goes high in the draft, but getting sucked into the lions is tough. Hope he can help them turn it around if thats where he does go.
  20. While I think it's probably a good idea to keep that concern in mind. Bo's worked really hard at waiting to accept commits until players are sure. Yeah it's probably going to happen now and then, but I think it's going to be minimized given our tactics. Plus I think JG's sold. GBR Texas has their class almost full at this point. If someone decommits, then you go out and get someone else. Gabbert decommitted and we got Brion Carnes instead. I would much rather have Carnes over Gabbert. Who's Gabbert?
  21. Change of plans at the last minute, so he didn't make it. Well that's fishy... he was stoked about it and bringing his whole family as of just a few days before... hmmmm... Here are my general feelings about it. LINK Shameless self promotion is what that is. I guess that comes with the territory when you are one of the resident recruiting experts (see also EZ-E and SkerChicago)
  22. Are you thinking of Derrius Vick from Lincoln Southeast? I haven't seen/read too much about him, but I know he is supposed to be pretty athletic. Around the 4.6 40 range, 6'2.
  23. I love not checking the board for an hour or two and coming back to see great news! I would agree that this puts pressure on other DT's and even the ends. They could get caught up in it and go. I hope we pick up Grimble next so that puts pressure on ends.
