  1. That's not how this team is built, and today's CFB world is a very, very different one from 1980 and 1990. I think if Martinez is to have any chance of being a QB, he absolutely cannot remain 25% passer. I also don't think Spano is 100% passer. He's got the knee injuries, yes, but I don't think pocket passer is a skillset description that he fits. But that's just because he came out of HS as a dual-threat. Also, I think the knock on Zac as a runner is somewhat overblown. He showed some speed and guts against Kansas, for example: Yes, so different it's hard to believe watching marginal programs like Navy and GT "winning" by running over people. Look how much NU has offensively "improved" since going to the "wco/multiple/whatever it is" fluffball offense. Yeah, I'm sure a run based offense could never rival last year's multiple 99th rated offense. Things have just changed too much. Have ya watched GT in a bowl game since Johnson took over?! They've gotten killed both times, because the option attack can be defended very easily by 2 things: speed and planning. When GT played an SEC defense in LSU last year they didn't even score a TD. This year against Iowa who had more than a week to prepare for them, they got stood up. Also, GT has lost both games in the last 2 years when their opponents had a bye week before. Things have changed. one thing you have to remember about these teams is the athletes you have. the reason that nebraska was so successful for all those years at running the option was because high schools around the nation did also. we also had a pipeline of nebraska kids willing to do everything they had just to be a wide receiver out there blocking. I want to see what GT can do if they continue to get big play receivers with there option attack. There just aren't as many high schools still running the option anymore.
  2. dang...we need some help here...can lose to iowa st....again.....
  3. i dont believe that to be correct. losing a conference game to a south opponent is very important when it comes to division standings.... It's important, but doesn't beating every team in your division still give you the North championship, even if you were to lose all three games against the south? no you dont. that would mean that you would only have a 5-3 record in conference play and you would hold the tie breaker if another team had the same record but if another team is 6-2, 7-1, or 8-0 then they would win the division. the only difference is that in division games will give you a tie breaker if you win and out of division games will not. but the goal is still to win the most conference games not just division games. So, if Nebraska went 7-1 in conference play with a loss to Missouri, but Missouri goes 6-2 in conference play with two losses to South teams, then Nebraska still wins the North division? I'm not saying you're wrong, but that just seems backwards. When you look at the NFL, for example, beating every team in your division will win you the division no matter how bad you played against teams outside your division. How can NU go 7-1 while losing all three games to the south???????? What? Re-read what I posted. I said Nebraska goes 7-1 with one loss to Missouri, and Missouri goes 6-2 with two losses to south teams. Actually in the nfl if you go 6-0 in your division and then go 0-10 with the rest of your games any team in your division with a better record than 6-10 wins the division. Your team just has the tiebreaker for the division. Same goes with AFC/NFC record are only tiebreaker for non-divisional ties. But, trying to go back to the topic, I didn't think there was much of a rivalry between OU and Texas until the big 12 was formed. Its much like the "rivalry" we now have with Missouri who really hasn't gotten the better of us until we were expanded to the big 12. Nebraska-OU goes back well beyond the big 12 back to a 40 to 50 year span where it was the two of us and everyone else.
  4. I was just watching espn and they asked Stoops how he felt about not playing Nebraska the next two years unless we meet in the big 12 title game. All he had to say was that he was happy he didn't have to and that unless Texas does it too then he thinks it is fair competition. I know he doesn't want to lose games because we are good competition, but I wanted to hear something more about our rivalry. Apparently our rivalry doesn't matter enough to him. Sorry to hear that from the head coach of Oklahoma.
  5. i still want to see woodhead make it big...he was good enough in training camp his first year to make the team even though his injury kept him out the entire season...gotta love the kid from CHADRON STATE...
  6. i bet al davis tried picking up pepperoni suh with there second round pick...

    Draft

dezy wasn't the first reciever to go....hahahahaha
  8. The only i am disappointed in is that he can't play another year.
  9. IMO the Jags pick was one of the biggest reaches in first round...not saying Tebow was your pick at #10 but Tebow at #25 could be argued he was taken 10 picks too soon...but Alualu at #10? He was taken more than 10 picks too soon. I think it is winding up that the Rams blew it. Could have had Suh and then grab Clausen next and 2 huge needs are filled but instead get Bradford and ?. I know that the jags reached...i don't care. If you look back at our last couple drafts besides last years we have done some downright stupid stuff. We just got rid of our second round pick from just two years ago, that we traded up to get, for a fifth round pick. If we took tebow i would denounce the jaguars.
  10. I know this has nothing to do with anything, but i am happy that tim tebow is going to the broncos and not the jaguars. Yay!!!!

    Suh

just seeing suh anytime is awesome...he is gonna talk about the money he gave to the university i believe
  12. How can you do that to yourself? I was at the game and I stood there for a long time after the kick in disbelief. The only thing that got me in gear to leave was the voice of mack brown I just hope we can have a season to remember next year...and if we can only win one game...please let it be texas!!!!
  13. Yeah, I live in northeast Nebraska and I can't believe how many idiot iowa fans there are...or how many of them thought that their defense was better then ours last year. How, their o-line would dominate our d-line. They also were under the impression that iowa would dominate nebraska if we played each other. Good luck in your new home...hopefully you find a couple of Nebraska fans
  14. seeing those arizona highlights makes me remember how cheap they were. they were hitting our players after plays and pushing and hitting...i lost all respect for them
  15. I said Paul. We had a really weak passing game last year that ran completely through Paul. Without him this year we will be all kinds of hurt.
  16. the only way i feel that the sec will not send a team to the national title is not having an undefeated team and two other conferences each produce one.
  17. greatest memory of johnny "ved" is the broken extra point where he throws it to the kicker for two...classic mix-up
  18. Any loss is tragic. Especially at such a young age. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
  19. After watching the first half coming to a close with mizzou starting to hit stride, I thought we were going to have another second half meltdown. Nice to see us go all the way for a change.
  20. Beastly, but not up to the standard of McCoy.
  21. Well said. Now when will it be football season.
