    Just put in my notice at my job a month in advance. Told by my boss that I should have trusted them more and told them sooner. Also told by my boss I might lose my benefits because I'm only part time during the summer. Take home message: Don't notify employer in advance that you're leaving, just stop showing up. What BS.

      If the job is better for you, just give them 2 weeks and be done with it.  Employers may care you're leaving because it's not their choice but it's not your choice if they fire you.  You really owe nothing to companies and it sounds like your boss gave you proof of that.
