I have no idea what Keven Warren is even trying to do. I understand that he was given a though hand this season, but it seems as if he failed every step of the way. I assume that Delany would have been working really hard to get Indiana in a NY6 bowl.

Interesting, it is almost like Dabo and Saban want to double their conference's money and play teams they already beat easily.

I actually understand the argument that OSU doesn't deserve to be part of the playoffs this year, but Dabo and some of the other coaches aren't acting in good faith with these polls. In a non pandemic year, we really need to drop one of the out of conference games and the expand the playoffs. All P5 champions should be in automatically along with at least G5 rep as well as 2 at large teams.

I can already hear the excuses if Cincy wins their bowl game.

This is a dumb way to have a championship. It also makes it impossible for a coach at a smaller school to develop a program into nothing more than a new years six participate. It is hard to keep a good up and coming coach at a place with such an arbitrary ceiling.

I love it. #karma.

Since we have a thread about the vaccines:
I am sure the news, for better or worse, will highlight stories where individuals will have a reaction to the vaccine. I wonder what the percentage would be if we tried and vaccinate a billion people with a polio vaccine in a short amount of time.

I think he is going to be better than either Bosa. Too bad Nick Bosa was hurt his Jr year at OSU. Having a blossoming Young and Bosa on either side would have been a fun thing to see throughout the year.
If it wasn't for Burrow, I would have wanted the Bengals to pick up Young with the #1 pick last year.

Michigan fans around me want Campbell. They are done with the whole, "Michigan man" thing. I wonder if the notion it has to be a former player will lose steam at other schools?
Booo! Keep Jim at Michigan.

If they do, it will be the scout team and walk ons. Both tackles and the starting center are injured. The backup center just entered the transfer portal. Both DEs, middle linebacker and safety are injured. The QBs, in order, have opted out, transferring out after getting benched, and out with a shoulder injury. The center QB exchanges ought to be an adventure. I have to believe that a negative test after 7 days would get you back playing. I think only 14 actually got COVID. Rumor has it that massive transfers are underway, and they are trying to get Harbaugh to quit so they don’t have to pay the 10M buyout. It’s going to be an interesting signing day. Most of the coaching staff has probably mentally packed their bags....they may have actually done that after the second game.
Almost makes you wonder if they could have played last week
If Jim is done, I hope they don't go after Campbell.

SEC coaches complaining about other team's schedules is peak $EC...
Yes, because it is 2020 and we had a season with very limited out of conference matchups, we should just put 3 SEC teams in, right? I mean, they said they were the best so they must be the best. I rather not have multiple teams from one conference in this year. Mullen should talk to his guys about not losing to a team with most of their defense out and a freshman starting QB. I wonder how many people are sending a shoe to Mullen this morning.

They will never run a playoff larger than 8 schools. You don't need to in FBS. Conferences play each other. In D-3 and D-2 don't. In D-3 more than half of the schools don't belong in the playoff either. My son plays at U of Rochester. Their conference isn't good enough to have their representivie belong in the national playoffs. They get crushed every year.
My big thing is that I want every game to count. Every game to feel like a playoff. To the point of ISU, yest they were essentially eliminated because of 2 loses. I want the season to mean something. In the NFL, teams will rest their starters the last weekend if they are in. The NBA? They rest guys all of the time. I don't want CFB to turn into that. I enjoy the arguements and the discussions. It is what makes the sport and message boards. How many years can your argue more than 4-6 teams in the playoffs? Teams that have a resume to be there?
I get the argument but D3 is much larger than the other divisions and the schools that want to compete can and do. The schools that don't want to really compete really don't put forth the resources to truly compete. I have been around D3 for a while now so I kind of understand it (worked at a D3 school and went to a D3 school that has won a lot of football games and NCs over the last 30 years ). The bad part is, if you are outside the P5, you don't have a shot. Even if you put in all the resources you possible could, you still don't have a shot. Every game matters for only a few teams.

I guess I know there is no chance of them being in the top 4, nor should they be. It really is a P-3 this year. Actually you would have to work hard to tell me the Pac-12 should be involved in the last few years as well. I am purely saying that it is really hard for the Sunbelt conference to convince me they deserve a seat at the top 4. They teams in the top 4 now, are the top 4.
As far as I am concerned the P-4 or 5 should just break away. They will never allow the others to be part of it anyway. Any of those teams can beat a P-4/5 in a one game senerio, but could never survive in a P-4/5 conference.
Or they can just run the playoff like all the other divisions. The fact that over half the teams in the FBS don't have a shot at the title before a game is played is stupid. Shorten the season to 11 games and allow all conferences to get a team in the playoff with some at large teams as well. This will help level the playing field. Of course this would cause schools to lose gate money with less guaranteed games, but it would give everyone access to the championships. The current system helps schools like OSU, but I would give that up in an instant if it meant a more level playing field.

Good timing here...
Smart, unlike OSU in 2011 when they went to a bowl with one of their worst teams and saved the bowl ban for 2012 when they were undefeated.

I was fine with OSU just playing Iowa or Wisconsin next week and not being in championship game. College football is built on arbitrary rules, always has been. It is that way in all the conferences.

So, if nothing changes with the B1G, and Indiana (paused team activities) has a big outbreak, does that mean Michigan or Michigan State goes to the B1G title game? Do they just cancel the game and Northwestern is the B1G champ by default? That might be the most 2020 outcome.

The crazy thing about this is, if OSU would have lost to Michigan, they still would have gone to the B1G championship game. Winning or losing against Michigan didn't hold them out, it was not playing the game.

Well, that stinks. Can OSU play Indiana again?
-
@nic, It will be interesting to see how many guys are out for both sides for this this game. The Cooper years still have me wondering about this game.
-
@Crusader Husker, I understand what you are saying but Michigan and Texas are in areas where they should be able to recruit a lot easier than Nebraska. Texas shouldn't be losing talent to teams like OSU.
BTW, The broken quote feature on this site sucks.
-
Meyer at Texas wouldn't have been good for OSU's Texas pipeline.
I think Texas and Michigan are broken programs that will have a hard time getting the guy they want. I think their problems are much deeper than their head coach.

If they are going to keep this thing at 4 teams, can we please stop having 2 teams from the same conference. This is even more important in a year were there is very little out of conference games. This is just a stupid way to figure out a champion. I almost wish that OSU would have kept their foot on the gas and put up 70 on Dabo.
