  1. How do you feel about that possibility TexasAg?
  2. Because Texas' administration actually cares about academics. The SEC does not.
  3. Thank you kindly. I've known many a 'Husker for ten+ years now. Buen jente! (Good people!)
  4. Depending upon what year this whole expansion thing kicks off, I might caution you to hold off on using such a low ceiling to determine Big Ten success.
  5. Some of the posters are "douchey"; however, I find that it is one of the most knowledgeable sites.
  6. Here's a welcome thread to the 'Huskers at buckeyeplanet: http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/buckeye-football/620231-welcome-big-ten-nebraska-fans.html
  7. Which pretty much brings us full-circle to my original myopia comment. I guess it's a half-full, half-empty thing. One person's brotherly solidarity is another's acceptance of mediocrity. TomAto tomAHto, potAto potAHto. Such is life....... And with such, I extend my apologies for your potential entrance into "mediocrity".
  8. I think Bo will is turning and will continue to turn NU into a formidable opponent in the Big Ten. I do have to hope my Buckeyes streak of winning or sharing the Big Ten Championship continues.
  9. The best Buckeye site is buckeyeplanet.com. Bar none.
  10. I'm trying to keep my links in a single thread, so I apologize if you guys don't like me digging up old/past threads: Latest from the NW board's favorite poster: http://northwestern.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=57&tid=143839427&mid=143839427&sid=901&style=2
  11. Yeah, I guess I am. As a whole? Maybe I could be talked into dialing that down a bit. But only a bit(again, from what I've seen in two decades). What regional games are on TV due to contractual agreements is beside the point. The local/regional doormats always get their share of TV exposure. My issue is that people actually WANT to watch that drivel, when there's a higher quality option. I didn't say it initially, but I'm not talking about one's alma mater, or team they've grown up with. If the 3 die-hard Gopher fans out there(I'm being generous) want to watch Minnesota play, good for them. I'm talking about WANTING to watch two crappy teams, teams who's only link to the viewer is that they happen to be in the same conference, when there are better quality match-ups going on. Not to talk for my fellow Huskers, but if Iowa St/Kansas St are playing on channel 113 and Florida/Alabama are playing on channel 115, I'm going to guess that, in Nebr. and the Big12 region overall, 115 wins overwhelmingly. My argument/opinion/repeated observation/whatever is, that's not the case in Big10 country. So you have experienced a lack of interest in OOC games by Big Ten fans. I guess I would say that I'm not surprised. The Big Ten community tends to care more about things within the conference than outside. About whether this speaks to an acceptance of mediocrity or lack of interest in excellence, I say equine excrement. It's a difference in perspective about one's conference.
  12. Feel free to link the other thread. I'm just not certain how you can say the Big Ten looks bad against the BCS data: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowl_Championship_Series (I typically try to stay away from Wiki, but it's objective in this instance) BCS Bowl wins and appearances by conference Conference Appearances Wins Losses % Big Ten 21 10 11 .476 Big 12 17 7 10 .438 BCS National Championships Conference Appearances Wins Losses % Big 12 7 2 5 .286 Big Ten 3 1 2 .333 How exactly is the Big 12 superior overall in the BCS?
  13. Point on. : Are you discussing all bowls or National Championships? The reason why I ask is there's a signficant difference in that discussion. To play in the NC regardless of outcome plays a MAJOR role in potential successes of subsequent bowl games. Furthermore, if we're going to discuss bowls, then we should evaluate everything since the inception of the BCS existence. Once the larger picture is evaluated, it puts things into a different perspective.
  14. I got nothing but love for you MGB. Your coach on the other hand.
  15. Just my 2 decades living up here.......popping into a sports bar and seeing what all the eyes are glued to.....missing a top 5 match-up at the health club because everyone is watching an utterly meaningless game....the Monday morning chatter at work..... Same 'hard facts' as every other poster on these here internets. Opinion. That was the word I was looking for. Your argument is that because someone or some group in the midwest watches teams within their conference instead of some potential national marquee match-up THAT the fanbase as a whole "put regional mediocrity ahead of excellence."? If this is the case; then I have news for you: Most regional TV Sets (public and private) carry regional games. According to your logic, when UCLA is on TV against Washington State in Oregon, I am supposed to presume that it's because the Pac Ten fan base accepts mediocrity over excellence? Instead of the ever-so-slight chance that there are certain contractual agreements to get teams on the TV sets a certain number of times a year, or that national affiliates are trumping the local sets for their coverages, or any other myriad of possibilities that exist in the world of media? Is this really what you're arguing?
  16. It's so interesting that the same two descriptive terms always follow a vast majority of that fan base.
  17. The thing Mizzou has over Oklahoma is that Mizzou isn't a potential academic liability.
  18. What the hell are you talking about? Do you care to substantiate anything that you're attempting to argue with actual facts?
  19. LOL! As though a #1 v #2 happens on a weekly basis in CFB. FWIW, the success of the BTN is evident, and it's not really something that can be argued. Furthermore, the Big Ten is also played on ABC, ESPN, and other ESPN satellites. I've caught more Big Ten games living in Oregon than I ever did in NC. You're arguing a red herring.
  20. Considering that your post doesn't take into account S.O.S., I would say that you're arguing a point that you can't substantiate. Furthermore, when looking specifically at the Buckeye schedule, there are (as all teams have) lower grade performers; however, no one can complain one iota about who tOSU has gone out and put on the OOC schedule in a few years. Texas home/home, USC home/home, and then to couple it with the Big Ten as a whole going 4-3 in bowl games with the top four Big Ten teams winning... well, you just can't argue against it especially when two of the wins were BCS.
  21. Speaking of emoticons. I have never figured out what that thing is! It's a nanalama. Nanners are for a-celebratin'!
  22. Damn you, man. I had to look it up to see if I misspelled something. Only thing I got wrong was Frye. No "e". First joke I was told by a Minnesotan was: Why doesn't Minnesota float up into Canada? Because Iowa sucks. Cheesy, yet simplistically funny.
