  1. Riley's buy out is $1M. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/riley-contract-includes-million-buyout/article_baf3a9d7-97c6-52aa-af24-96ec7457b6ec.html I imagine your boosters would consider that pocket change.
  2. As far as Auburn goes, it was completely their fault for having such a shotty SOS. Of three undefeated teams, it's logical to take the two that played a harder schedule. Correct? Who precisely would you have put in the NC besides LSU? Feel free to support it as well. IF that is how it plays out; THEN so be it. However, both teams are going to need a LOT of help to leap frog anyone from a BCS AQ conference. And somehow you think a playoff alleviates your questions and comments about the BCS. A playoff scenario MAY help with answering some questions; however, it can also create more questions than it answers. Where do you draw the line?
  3. Why, precisely, do they deserve a chance? Are you under the impression that these three teams would have the regular performances, that they have during their present regular seasons, if they were apart of a conference with more than two teams worth a damn? It will be interesting to see how Utah performs next year. "Any chance for hope" of what exactly? The BCS does precisely what it was meant to do: put the two best teams in the National Championship Game. That's it's sole purpose. What part of hope is missing on that? The opportunity for some cinderella to pull out an upset? For me, personally, I'm not 100% sold on the BCS; however, I am definitely a fan of the regular season having significant weight. Playoffs diminish the role of the regular season and dampen the rivalries some of us hold dear. Sure, it's a traditionalist approach; yet, that's something I particularly like about CFB.
  4. It appears that I jinxed the hell out of both of us this weekend by bringing this up. My apologies. What a weekend. :shake:
  5. The AP is not the only recognized national championship organization. That was the reason why I showed the plethora of others that have been credited as valid throughout time.
  6. To your bold, this is not correct. There are a number of different organizations that are recognized for National Championships. http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/national_championships/index.php With regards to the FWAA, For you to dismiss the FWAA Grantland Rice Award is to also question the others. This would affect awards by 'Huskers throughout the years.
  7. It didn't come across that way in reading it.
  8. Are you attempting to argue that the athletic department was sold on going to the Big Ten?
  9. The people that I have spoken to know the faculty personally, and they have stated numerous times over the last few years just how much the academia at ND wanted to join the Big Ten. Furthermore, IF there was such an issue "of dealing with Big#" for a century; THEN I would have thought by now that ND would have taken their talents elsewhere. Instead, there are no less than 25% of your games played against Big Ten opponents annually. Coupled with the losing record against said opponents since expansion came into play, it really makes me wonder where you get your argument? So much for a bitter taste, huh?
  10. I hear many more positive comments about visitor treatment at tOSU games than I do negative. Way to color the fanbase ignorant and disrespectful though.
  11. Just to ask: is that a good or bad thing IYO?
  12. From all that I have read about the situation between the Big Ten and UNL, I don't find this to be the case. Now, this is with the caveat that I fully believe the time table was expedited because of the Big XII ultimatum. If there was no ultimatum, then there is a good possibility that the outcome may have been different. Just for clarification, when the Big Ten approached ND at the end of the last century it was fully supported by the academic staff at ND. The hold-up was performed by the athletic administration, who then decided to smear the situation in the public press. It has truly left an "interesting" taste in the mouth of Big Ten personnel and fans when thinking about ND. I haven't read what LLLLLLoyd said this week; therefore, I can't comment on it. As for destroying alternatives, I guess it's a matter of perspective. A tremendous upgrade to the Graduate and Research programs at ND obviously take a backseat to the football program. I would see that as enhancement instead of destroying alternatives.
  13. What leads you to believe that the Big Ten attempted to force ND's hand this time? If anything, the frustration appears to be more from the other Big East schools. It's going to be interesting to see what happens when the Big Ten teams have 9-game conference schedules. I'm hoping that Purdue, Michigan and Michigan State drop ND. It's probably pie in the sky; but that's my hope.
  14. Gotta ask, "Why?". JoePa doesn't deserve anything with regards to the Big Ten, IMO.
  15. '71 was a completely different scenario. I don't see anyone in the US (esp. those with voting rights) wanting a re-match from a conference championship game in the national championship.
  16. 14 points in the Miami game came from Special Teams. 10 points allowed by the defense in that game. Thus far, the Buckeye Silver Bullets are on pace for another stellar defensive year. They'll be Top 10 (if not Top 5) in most categories this year. The only vulnerability that I see is that we have two defensive backs that are down now, but one will be back. Defense is not the weakness of this team, Special Teams are at the moment. That could cost us a game, but I don't see any other aspect that would.
  17. Glad to see that there are some 'Huskers who would be just as game for this possibility. Undefeated UNL > Bama with 1-2 loss, IMO. Oregon... been there, done that last year. Oregon isn't going to do what they're doing at the beginning of this year against a team with a defense like Nebraska or Ohio State. Disagree for a number of reasons. I actually live in Oregon, and have a front row seat to both schools up here. Neither one right now would beat the Huskers or Buckeyes.
  18. It's obvious to me that the OP is not a Michigan fan; but instead, a troll. Way too sensible and lacking delusion.
  19. Isn't Ohio State's style of play closest to Nebraska's style? Hey Coqui  I would say so. Ultimately, when tOSU plays UNL; then it's going to be one helluva hard hitting contest! The way football should be played.
  20. I forgot to post that I wonder if Texas A&M's going to be irritated by the decrease in potential revenue coming their way. Maybe they'll be on the way to the SEC sooner than previously thought.
  21. Since it's the last chance that it could happen, I'm going to go ahead and call it right now: Buckeyes v. 'Huskers in the National Championship. The ramifications would be magnificent! : for seeing you there.
  22. It's only because my wife's family will kill me if I'm not nice.
  23. Congratulations! And since I believe the Big Ten will be picking up the tab, you needn't worry about much.
  24. Poor NW. After they "spoiled" the Buckeyes a few years back, Tressel has throat-stomped them year-in/year-out.
  25. 97.1 is a hack station. I believe that they dog on the Buckeyes just as much as the opponents. They're not representative of the fan base. Trust me, there are enough Buckeyes out there who are pulling for the 'Huskers, appreciate the program and traditon at UNL, and look forward to the great things that come about in the future. If you want something representative of what a level-headed Buckeye site can present; then I suggest you go to BuckeyePlanet.com Furthermore, each and every fanbase has there percentage of douchenozzles. It's not the majority (except for maybe the jort-wearing Gator fans )
