  1. This looks good and easy to make. I think it would be good with ice cream on top. HOT FUDGE PIE: 1 Stick Butter, Softened 1 Cup Sugar 2 Eggs 1 Tsp. Vanilla 3 T. Cocoa Powder 1 Tsp. Salt 1/2 Cup All-Purpose Flour Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together butter and sugar with electric mixer until fluffy, about 3 minutes. ***By hand Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Add cocoa powder, salt and flour and stir until well combined. Grease 8-inch pie pan with butter or cooking spray, pour mixture into pie pan. Bake 30 to 35 minutes until center is set ***Hand mix to make it gooey, because if you use a mixer, it will have more of a brownie or cake texture, rather than "gooey".
  2. I heard this works. This is not my recipe but it's worth a try!!! Keeps Yard Clear of Mosquitoes for up to 80 days!!! All my friends that have tried it can't believe it.. It works.. Go out and sit at nite, you will NEVER get bit!
  3. I made sausage, hashbrowns with onions and eggs for brunch today. I make my eggs by spraying a muffin tin with Pam and baking them in a preheated 425 degree oven for 16 minutes. I like my eggs a little soft and they turn out perfect every time and they aren’t greasy! These hashbrowns are my favorite hashbrowns. I think they are better than Ore Ida.
  4. I like making my own spices so I can control what’s in it. I just found this recipe. Dry Onion Soup Mix: Ingredients: 3/4 Cup Instant Minced Onion 1/3 Cup Beef Bouillon Powder 4 Tsp. Onion Powder 1/4 Tsp. Crushed Celery Seed 1/4 Tsp. Sugar DIRECTIONS: Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container. About 5 tablespoons of mix are equal to 1-1/4-oz. pkg. To Make Onion Dip: Mix 5 tablespoons with one pint of sour cream.
  5. I saw this in a site I belong to..copied their post; I think of all of the families in Italy bunkering down and probably carrying on simply elegant meals with their loved ones. Telling stories similarly to how I do - looking down at their plate grateful - and looking left to right with gleam to see their favorite people. That is how we Italians do all meals. This is one of the first recipes I shared with the world. This book is fueled by my family's actual recipes carried down from generation to generation. I hope you try it and love it as much as I do.
  6. I recently joined a recipe club that just has old recipes and I am really enjoying it! I would post the link so you all could enjoy them too, but, I am not allowed to do that. It’s a shame because I think a lot of you would enjoy reading them too...it is what it is. This is what the poster said: Dumplings: This recipe is over 90 years old given to me by a friend who is 80 and his mom made them for him as a kid.
  7. An old recipe, but, a goodie! I have fond memories of making these with my mom! Love you mom! I know you are an angel in heaven! RICE KRISPY TREATS: 3 tablespoons butter, salted, 4 cups miniature marshmallows, 6 cups Rice Krispies. Get out a heavy saucepan, add the butter. When the butter melts, reduce the heat to a simmer, add the marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows are melted. Remove from the heat; add the cereal and mix well until all the cereal is coated. Get out a 13x9-in. pan, spray the pan with cooking spray. Scoop the cereal mixture onto the pan. Place a sheet of waxed paper on top, with your hands gently press and distribute the cereal mixture evenly on the pan. Set aside and allow to cool; cut into 2-inch squares.
  8. SWEET POTATO PONE; This dish serves well as a Thanksgiving side dish or a dessert. 1/2 cup salted butter, 2 medium size yams, peeled and chopped, 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk, 1/4 cup half and half, 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 1/4 teaspoons nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves, 2 large beaten eggs, 1/4 teaspoon grated orange rinds, 1/8 teaspoon salt, marshmallows, 1 cup chopped pecans. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Boil yams in a pot covered in water until tender. Drain yams and dump into a bowl, add butter and beat with a hand mixer until smooth. Add salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, orange rinds, vanilla, eggs, and milk, mix well. Pour into a lightly butter greased casserole dish. Bake uncovered for 60 minutes. Remove from the oven and evenly top with the pecans and marshmallows, return to oven bake until the marshmallows brown.
  9. I asked someone on a recipe site that I belong to, how they made this salsa..this is their reply. Salsa: Handful of chile de Arbol, stemmed and toasted for a minute in a pan. Place in a bowl and add hot water to rehydrate, cover to soften in 15 minutes. Roast, toast in pan or add fresh to blender 2 tomatoes, 1/2 onion and the garlic. Remove chile from water and add the tomatoes, onions, garlic, and 1/2 cup or more tap water to blender and purée. (You can skip this step, but I added a small amount of oil to a pan and added in my puréed mixture and cooked for 5 minutes). Season with salt and thin with water to your desired consistency for chips or tacos, etc. I like mine cool. Optional cilantro-(I didn’t add it)-and lime, but I’d save the lime for a tequila shooter!

  11. AN OLD WOMAN WALKED UP AND TIED HER OLD MULE TO THE HITCHING POST. AS SHE STOOD THERE, BRUSHING SOME OF THE DUST FROM HER FACE AND CLOTHES, A YOUNG GUNSLINGER STEPPED OUT OF THE SALOON WITH A GUN IN ONE HAND AND A BOTTLE OF WHISKEY IN THE OTHER. THE YOUNG GUNSLINGER LOOKED AT THE OLD WOMAN AND LAUGHED, "HEY OLD WOMAN, HAVE YOU EVER DANCED?" THE OLD WOMAN LOOKED UP AT THE GUNSLINGER AND SAID, "NO,... I NEVER DID DANCE... NEVER REALLY WANTED TO." A CROWD HAD GATHERED AS THE GUNSLINGER GRINNED AND SAID "WELL, YOU OLD BAG, YOU'RE GONNA DANCE NOW," AND STARTED SHOOTING AT THE OLD WOMAN'S FEET. THE OLD WOMAN PROSPECTOR -- NOT WANTING TO GET HER TOE BLOWN OFF --STARTED HOPPING AROUND. EVERYBODY WAS LAUGHING. WHEN HIS LAST BULLET HAD BEEN FIRED, THE YOUNG GUNSLINGER, STILL LAUGHING, HOLSTERED HIS GUN AND TURNED AROUND TO GO BACK INTO THE SALOON. THE OLD WOMAN TURNED TO HER PACK MULE, PULLED OUT A DOUBLE-BARRELED SHOTGUN, AND COCKED BOTH HAMMERS. THE LOUD CLICKS CARRIED CLEARLY THROUGH THE DESERT AIR, AND THE CROWD STOPPED LAUGHING IMMEDIATELY. THE YOUNG GUNSLINGER HEARD THE SOUNDS, TOO, AND HE TURNED AROUND VERY SLOWLY. THE SILENCE WAS ALMOST DEAFENING. THE CROWD WATCHED AS THE YOUNG GUNMAN STARED AT THE OLD WOMAN AND THE LARGE GAPING HOLES OF THOSE TWIN BARRELS. THE BARRELS OF THE SHOTGUN NEVER WAVERED IN THE OLD WOMAN'S HANDS, AS SHE QUIETLY SAID, "SON, HAVE YOU EVER KISSED A MULE'S a$$?" THE GUNSLINGER SWALLOWED HARD AND SAID, "NO M'AM... BUT I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO. THERE ARE FIVE LESSONS HERE FOR ALL OF US: 1 - Never be arrogant. 2 - Don't waste ammunition. 3 - Whiskey makes you think you're smarter than you are. 4 - Always make sure you know who has the power. 5 - Don't mess with old people; they didn't get old by being stupid.
  12. Manicott 16 Manicotti Pasta Shells 8 Eggs 1-1/2 Cups Self-Rising Flour 1/2 Cup Evaporated Milk 1/2 Cup Chicken Broth 1/2-lb. Bulk Italian Turkey Sausage 1/2-lb. Ground Chicken 1-1b. Cottage Cheese 1-lb. Grated Parmesan Cheese 1-lb. Shredded Mozzarella Cheese 1/4 Cup Chopped Fresh Flat Leaf Parsley 2-1/2 Cups Prepared Pasta Sauce 1/4 Tsp. Crushed Red Peppers 3 Garlic Cloves, Minced 2-1/2 T. Garlic Oil 1/4 Tsp. Fresh Torn Thyme 1/4 Tsp. Fresh Torn Basil 1/2 Cup Broccoli Florets, Finely Chopped 1 Tsp. Italian Seasoning 1/4 Tsp. Nutmeg Get out a heavy pot, add 5-6 cups of salted water, bring to a boil, add the pasta and cook just this side of al dente, following the package directions. The shells will continue to cook in the oven, be sure not to overcook! Remove from the pot and set aside, do not rinse! In a large bowl, add the eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Add the flour, milk, and chicken broth, mix well, set aside. In a skillet, add the oil and the meat, cook until the meat crumbles and turns brown. Add the dry seasonings, nutmeg, parsley, thyme, garlic, broccoli, and basil taste, adjust dry seasoning to fit your taste. Add to the flour mixture along with 1/2 of the cheeses, mix well. Now it's time to stuff the shells. Get out a plastic bag, fill the bag with the meat mixture. Cut a corner diagonally. Push the meat mixture into the shells. Put the stuffed shells on a lightly sprayed baking pan. Pour the pasta sauce on top. Bake for about 15-17 minutes. Remove from the oven, add the remaining cheeses, return to the oven for approximately 6-8 minutes, or until all the cheese is melted and bubbly.
