  1. Well, at least we flipped field position with that turnover.
  2. Seriously, how many tackles is Damion Stafford going to miss this year?
  3. Missed the first half, but looked at the box score, and have one question... Where's Braylon Heard?
  4. He is, without question, more effective on his feet than Turner. At least Martinez seems to know which direction the endzone is. Turner will just run from east to west to east and then trip over his own feet, virtually every time he gets the ball. Also, isn't Martinez, like, our second leading rusher? I'd say he does alright with what he has. Here are the stats for rushing. I respectively and massively disagree that Martinez is better on his feet than Turner. According to your stats, Jamal Turner is averaging a whopping 1 yard per carry. And if you took sacks out of the equation (I believe Taylor's been sacked 13 times for about 113 yards), Taylor would be averaging over 6 yards per carry.
  5. I could agree with Taylor's 18 carries being a misuse of about 8 carries. He should be around 10 carries. But to say Taylor shouldn't get any carries or that he's not an effective runner? Come on.
  6. When Northwestern was about to go up 28-16 in the fourth quarter, when this exchange happened - I do think Bo was very close to losing the team. I don't think it has anything to do with yelling at players or anything though, I think it had more to do with the "Win out" comment. He laid it all on the line with that comment, and even as fans, you felt the season slipping away when we went down 28-16. I think some of the players started to lose composure and panicking, and thank goodness the veterans on offense (Martinez, Enunwa) maintained composure and saved the day.
  7. I agree ... other than Ameer. Martinez really stepped up today. I'd go as far to say that he won this game IN SPITE of the coaches. Ameer went for 101 yards on 19 carries for over 5 ypc, and there were several runs that took pretty spectacular effort from him to get positive yardage... I was extremely happy about the way he played, other than the muffed punt.
  8. What a game. Huge props to Taylor Martinez, as well as to Enunwa. Ameer and Bell both played great too, other than their muffed punts. The defense also showed significant improvement, but I was not particularly happy with their performance on NW's last TD drive. They got out-efforted.
  9. Really? What does Martinez need to do? He's had 1 bad throw, but outside of that he's doing everything he can to win this game. The O-Line definitely hasn't been helping him out. Mistakes on Special Teams hasn't helped him at all. What else does he need to do? Beautiful throw by him for the TD to. If we had a pro style QB we would be up in this game.. Our wideouts are that good Seriously? How about: If our offensive line could get a push on third and short... If our special teams didn't commit two turnovers... If our tight end didn't fumble the ball and turn the wrong way on a crucial fourth and short blocking assignment... If our defense finished plays, rather than allowing "second efforts" to give up big first downs... If we did all that, and kept Taylor at QB, we'd be up by about 30.
  10. Taylor has to settle down. Can't force things. He gets to the point where he feels like he's the only guy that can win the game and starts making bad decisions.
  11. What for? We'd have gained nothing by kicking an XP. Well, if we kick the XP, and then score another TD to take the lead, we're up by a full field goal. Now we have to go for 2 again in order to go up a field goal, if we score a TD.
  12. Looked like there were enough blockers to me... The guy that made the tackle was getting blocked by Turner. Don't know why you have Turner blocking on the edge where the play is going rather than Bell or Enunwa or Marlowe... somebody that's a better blocker.
  13. It's not the play, it's the personnel. Cross woulda been better there in that situation.. It's the offensive line. I don't think it's as simple as any one issue. NW looked like they really sold out to stop the quick run up the middle this time. So it could be the playcall not being the right one at the right time. Those things are so hard to say though. Hard to play judgmental armchair playcaller If this program is going to get back to where it wants to be (conference championships, occasionally getting into the national title conversation), then our offensive line has to be DOMINANT, especially against a team like NW. It's nowhere close right now.
