If some polls are accurate and Trump is slated to win the National popular vote by 2-4%, Minnesota is probably just out of reach for Trump. In any case, a political environment where Trump wins that national popular vote by 2-4% means he's won a monumental Electoral College victory.

An electoral environment where Trump actually wins Minnesota - which is possible if the United States enters a recession by September - it would mean an electoral college victory so astounding that the Democratic Party would have to completely reorient itself and become something new.

The probability of a recession has been getting lower lower.

The Democrats have made lots of mistakes, including Biden and Clinton being the best candidates they could come up with. But with a candidate like Trump, sometimes you have to put some blame on the idiot voters. I'm not sure how the Democrats reach the type of people who are willing to vote for a depraved piece of s#!t.

Are these kids even sure their universities have Israeli "investments"?

Who knows - but a lot of these would be big funds that invest in loads of things, and are not specifically investing in Israel... stuff.

I covered "elective" abortions with "just because". Haven't we been bombarded with what a woman does with/to her body is nobody else's business and they don't need to justify a reason? How would you classify that...?

I also gave a nod to the myriad reasons they may make such a choice, without spelling out particulars. That seems to be what pro abortion folks want.

Not sure why you are calling me dismissive.

I used to say I was anti abortion. Then I said I was pro life.

    Now, with help from @teachercd

and others, I admit I am pro choice "with restrictions".

Over 90% of abortions fall into the just because category.

I hope that they can somehow codify...safe/legal/rare but allow choice to 10 or 12 weeks...just like the other nations you mentioned.

    I bet you do...but I'll play along.

Somewhere around 7% of abortions are due to rape, incest, or health of the mother.  So over 90% are for the myriad of other reasons chosen to kill the unborn child, which can be referred to as just because...rather than listing the myriad of other reasons.

Or, it means people don't :dunno

I suggest you check back to page 57.

And, if you could, please point out where I said 93% of elective rapes (what the hell even is that) in reference to anything.

I meant elective abortion, not rape. I guess elective rape would be… ok I’m not going to post that.

You should share the public held debt percentage of GDP. It still paints a not pretty picture, but doesn't try to go for shock value with a mostly meaningless number/chart.

If US voters were less stupid and less insane, and maybe if there were term limits, maybe this would be addressed someday. For example the Democrats could make changes to Welfare, or the Republicans could make changes to the stupid farm subsidies (like field corn) and oil subsidies, without people having an irrational cow.

  5. People aged 15-25 want something to be excited about. Sometimes it’s a legitimate thing that the old people don’t have enough energy to get excited about. Sometimes it’s a stupid thing.

The hard thing here is the Israel government is s#!tty in multiple ways right now, but the area they are attacking is governed by terrorists and the protestors are being insanely hyperbolic. They want a ceasefire or a permanent end, but ignore the details. E.g. Hamas has not agreed to release the hostages in exchange for a ceasefire.

I’m not talking about the 44% tax on capital gains.  I’m talking about the 25% tax on unrealized gains.

    Gotcha, sorry.

  7. Just now, BigRedBuster said:

That doesn’t explain how absolutely f#&%ing stupid the tax on unrealized gains is.

No but it’s not a new tax and you said it’s one of the dumbest tax proposals in history. The Forbes article gives a lot more context than the headline.

Didn't HC Matt Rhule say that there were things that DR had to work on?  I know all the qb's have something to work on to get better but I haven't heard what the things DR needs to work on?

You must be new to football coaches. Bo Pelini basically said Lavonte David sucks a$$ (paraphrasing a little).

Does this mean the idiot wing of the Republican party is loosing influence?

The Senate has always been slightly more rational, because gerrymandering can't impact it and each party (generally) needs to nominate someone who isn't a complete nutjob. When you have a bunch of districts that have 70/30 splits of party membership, that's when the crazies get elected in the House.

  10. I didn't follow teach's advice but I did lose $300. But I've gained back $115 now. I should probably pay more attention but I just auto invest my retirement stuff and don't look at it much.

  11. I don't understand the government sometimes.

There is a cap on SS so you don't have to pay on any income after a certain threshold. But, if you make too much income you're not allowed to do a Roth IRA. Just be consistent. Remove the SS cap and let anyone do a Roth IRA.

I have not played the game and am not familiar with it but I was looking forward to this series based on the trailers I saw. I usually like post apocalyptic stuff. I guess I was expecting something a little different and more serious. I’m only 4 episodes in and 3 & 4 have been better but I wasn’t too impressed with the beginning. It’s an odd mix of being light and unserious but with serious violence mixed in. It’s growing on me but I’ll need to see more before I’ll say it’s good.

I would say it gets better. There were a couple episodes I didn't care for and I nearly stopped watching (I think eps 2 and 3 maybe).
