  1. Gimme some schadenfreude, fellas! My season ended in November. NOVEMBER! That's when BAYLOR's season ends, not Texas's! Wait, Baylor has a bowl game too. Jesus, who's not getting a bowl game this year? There are like 62 of them and only 120 teams and somehow we managed to not qualify. Anyway, please say whatever prayers you say to whichever deity you believe in or muster up all of your collective Big Red consciousness or put on your lucky jersey or whatever it is you do to help the Huskers beat the everliving piss out of Medium Game Bob. I need to see slamming headsets and visors and that double-chinned pouty face in the fourth quarter. I need a press conference of "No excuses" followed by lots of excuses. I need a crying OU band girl. Schadenfreude. Lots and lots of schadenfreude. Please. It's all I have. GO BIG RED!!!
  2. Nothing confirmed, but there are too many leaks coming from too many places within the program for this to not be going down. He's apparently not going to be fired, just reassigned to a position (non-coaching) within the athletic department. Several position coaches will meet the same fate, most likely McWhorter (OL), Kennedy (WR), Tolleson (DT/ST), and Mad Dog (S&C). They might not all get it, but at least a couple will. Our last two losing seasons ended the head coach's career -- Mack has done enough to avoid that but he knows he's got to clean house. I expect Major will take over for Davis as QB coach and Akina will take on Special Teams along with his current role with the DB's, and the other slots will all be new hires, including an RB coach (I chuckle when I picture Opie Applewhite trying to teach someone how to hit the hole). I'm so glad it's finally the offseason!
  3. Yes, changes this big can be a little scary, no question. But if it is Holgorsen, he's not just some young hotshot. He's had great offenses at Tech and U of H and then at Okie State -- they were picked to finish last in the division by a lot of people because they lost so many weapons on offense and they don't have a defense. Instead, they almost won the division and had one of the most explosive offenses in the nation in his first year. A good coordinator doesn't need long to get things turned around: Muschamp and Pelini did it and Holgorsen has shown he can too. The thing about Greg Davis is that you'd have to watch all of our games to get it. Yes, his numbers overall are excellent -- we scored more points in the 00's than every other team in the nation. While that sounds impressive, if you look at the box scores you'll notice that we had a tendency to drop 52 on every cupcake and then we turtled in the big games. Davis is so afraid of someone making a mistake against good defenses that he handcuffs his players. I remember us scoring 14, 3, 13, and 0 against OU. A bad A&M team held us to 7 points in '06. Plenty of other decent/good teams held our top 5 offense to fewer than 24 points. And this year he was completely exposed -- Nebraska is the only good defense we played, and OU and A&M are pretty average -- the other 9 were B-A-D. 23 points a game against that schedule, and a lot of it in the fourth quarter after the other team had put us away, is ridiculous. Kansas State and Iowa State were two of the worst defenses in the nation and they both held us to 3 points through 3 quarters. When the offensive talent goes from A+ to B (this team is loaded with four-stars, they're not hacks) and the offensive production goes from A+ to D, that's coaching. With all the offensive talent we've put in the NFL the past decade, we were only a truly elite team four times -- Vince's last two years and Colt's last two years. And how many times did those two make something out of a busted play where most QB's have to take a sack? All of the other years we lost two or three games even though we had as much talent as anyone. I'm not saying Davis is an awful coordinator. He's just mediocre. Holgorsen doesn't need once-in-a-generation quarterbacks to put up X-Box numbers and he's shown that he can implement his offense immediately at U of H and Okie Lite. If he's our coordinator next year and Malcolm Brown is as good as he looks, we're scoring 40+ a game, guaranteed. There was really no excuse not to this year when literally half of the conference ranks worse than 80th in the nation in total defense and our non-conf opponents were all dogs. 23 a game makes me want to punch a wall.
  4. Malzahn, Chryst, Helfrich, or Holgorsen would all look great in burnt orange. Early rumor locally is that Holgorsen is choice #1 and that he's definitely interested. He makes $450k and Texas could double that, matching what we pay Muschamp. He plugged in a 26 year-old baseball player as a first-year starter at QB and the guy threw for over 4,000 yards. And he turned lightly regarded three-star prospect Justin Blackmon into freaking Justin Blackmon. Holgorsen is an upgrade over Greg Davis like a Porsche is an upgrade over a Kia. And Major can be moved to quarterbacks coach and we can go get a real running backs coach, just in time for Malcolm Brown to come on the 40 Acres. I want to hug the whole world right now.
  5. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is easily the greatest day since January 4th, 2006!!! Praise baby Tebow, it's finally happening!!! I love you all!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
  6. Someone else asked me this as well, and it's a fair question. I just think aggy had a slightly better resume -- they did beat both division champs and Mizzou didn't have to play Okie St or Arkansas. I also think aggy has steadily improved since the QB switch and I think they'd beat Mizzou on a neutral field right now in a close game. Trust me, it ain't because of any affection for aggy!
  7. Yawn. Final rankings: http://texarcher.wordpress.com/2010/11/29/final-big-xii-power-rankings/ Ahhhhhhh, it's the offseason again. I never realized how much I took the offseason for granted. All I used to do was complain about the offseason, wishing it would hurry up and be over so football would start up again. Now I see the value, nay, the beauty of the offseason. It will be at least nine months before the Longhorns lose again. Nine whole months without a single Saturday being ruined. That. Is. Awesome!
  8. This makes me physically ill. Have they had more talent than Texas? Only on their coaching staff. Lots and lots of firings had better be coming.
  9. Okay, but you made it sound like the UT fans were just as much to blame for "pushing past the Corp" and then they "got into it". That is not what happened. What happened was a bunch, not a few, a lot of Corps guys lost their heads and handed out multiple several-on-one beatings, not a couple of one-on-one fist fights where both parties were willing participants. Just so we're all clear, here.
  10. Are you f'ing kidding me, bro? "Some Corps members and fans got into it"??? Your own school newspaper saw it a little differently: From The Battalion
  11. I post here semi-frequently. I didn't come here to attack aggy, I just saw this thread and responded. I do find it ironic, among other things, that opposing fans get assaulted for disrespecting "sacred Kyle Field" by walking on it, but aggy fans can rush the field. It's just a double standard I felt like pointing out -- if it's sacred (and as you noted, it really isn't) then it should be sacred all the time. That's all.
  12. I know that, and you need to be telling that to your aggy buddies, because most of them think that the field is the memorial, even though it isn't. And that WAS the justification for the Corp turds attacking the UT fans in '95. How am I being an ass? Y'all DID attack people for no reason. I'm not acting like something happened that didn't. And it's happened other times as well. This is a photo of one of your Corp turds pulling a sword on an SMU cheerleader for daring to set foot on "sacred Kyle Field": If you find these incidents embarrassing, maybe you should lobby texas a&m to put a leash on these repressed homosexual dress-up Army jackasses instead of getting your panties in a bunch when someone points out how frequently they embarrass your school.
  13. This guy gets it. OU is one of the dirtiest programs in NCAA history and their fans have the nerve to brag about the football success that they BOUGHT. I'm actually surprised that so many here talk of respecting OU and hating UT. We have some jerk fans for sure, as everyone does, but most of us are pretty die-hard college football fans who will invite a fan of the other team to have a sausage at our tailgate and talk football. Happens all the time. My experience with Sooner fans has been that they're basically not very bright, not very knowledgeable about college football, and not terribly friendly. Most Sooner fans I've met don't even know their own history -- ask the next Sooner you meet how many Heisman winners they've had and I'll beat he won't know. He'll know about the seven national championships, though, but he either won't know or won't care about the 5 NCAA sanctions for cheating in football alone, plus the Bomar cheating and the basketball cheating by Sampson and who knows how much crap they got away with! How can you possibly respect that school or their fans? It's mind-bottling. They're a bunch of cheating, redneck scum and Bob Stoops hates puppies and Jesus.
  14. What's most interesting about that is that they claim that their field is a war memorial so no one but players and other approved people (band, Corps, etc) is EVER allowed on it. They used this as their justification when a bunch of Corps turds beat up a bunch of UT fans who rushed the field after we upset them there in '97 (including an 8 year-old girl who had to get stitches). And they've had incidents with fans of other schools on their field as well. But apparently it's not disrespecting a war memorial when aggy fans do it.
  15. Week 12: http://texarcher.wordpress.com/2010/11/22/big-xii-power-rankings-after-week-12/ We didn't lose!! We didn't loooooooooooooose!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
  16. Pelini is a tremendous coach, obviously. But if we polled the entire country with "Which coach is most likely to strike an opposing player, a la Woody Hayes, or an official?", is there any doubt that Pelini would win the poll in a landslide? I'm not suggesting that Bo would or wouldn't actually throw a punch, as I don't know, but the perception is certainly that he's damned close more than once a game -- there have to be fathers looking at this guy and telling their sons, "no way you're playing for him".
  17. I'm in shock at what I've seen tonight. There are others, like the "roughing" call in the 4th, (WTF?) and the PI on them that was waived off for some reason. But this sh#t takes the cake. How does the ref see the self-defensive kick and not the, you know, prison shower rape happening right in front of him? Obviously I'm not in favor of aggies or sheep molestation in general, but seriously? It's gonna be interesting to see how Beebe et al try to spin this silly sh#t.
  18. Probably posted elsewhere already, but needs to be seen... http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y294/Norga_Rotem/texags/?action=view&current=VID00002-20101120-2044.mp4
  19. Semi-neutral input (I obviously don't like aggy and I kinda do like y'all, but I can be pretty objective when Texas isn't directly involved)... Y'all was hosed like a mother. 16 to 2? And one on them was picked up? Seriously? F-ing garbage.
  20. LMAO at that late hit. Jesus. Come on. I'm usually the biggest anti-conspiracy guy in the world, but this is hilarious. I believe it's 15 penalties against 2 right now in favor of the home team? Hmmmmm...
  21. I have aggy cousins hosting Thanksgiving. For the first time ever, they've moved Thanksgiving dinner from around 1:00 or 2:00 to 5:00, so we can all watch the game together afterward. Frontrunning jerkoffs. If they are still eligible to win the South Division and they're coming off upset wins over OU and Nebraska and they're 8-3 and they're about to smash us on our own field, do you have any idea what's going to happen? Bad things, man, bad things. A family could be torn asunder. Please finish these farming idiots off. I beg of you.
  22. Week 11 rankings: http://texarcher.wordpress.com/2010/11/15/big-xii-power-rankings-after-week-11/ We're 2-0 in basketball and neither opponent got within 30 points of us. Suck on that.
  23. Week 10: http://texarcher.wordpress.com/2010/11/10/big-xii-power-rankings-after-week-10/ Thank goodness basketball season is finally here so Texas can have a number next to its name again.
  24. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
