  1. No, nothing leads me to think we can recruit and compete at a national championship level. We might win the BIG once in the next five years but thats our cieling right now, were not in SEC country or Texas, Oklahoma, or USC so recruiting is alot more difficult plus there is alot more parity in college football nowadays, I mean Baylor just won Big 12 and Duke played for the ACC championship.
  2. I'm hopeful Johnny Stanton is the QB we need next year Ron Kellogg isn't the answer and never was. Special teams is laughable Nothing new, mediocre team in a mediocre conference. Wasn't for cupcake schedule and last second heroics this year we would likely be .500, if that.
  3. There is some talent, young talent on the defensive end and some playmakers(mostly Abdullah, the rest are overrated imo) on the offensive end. Look at the QB, not saying Ron played terrible but the guy wasn't even one of the five best qbs in the metro his Sr. year of highschool and he's suppose to be the Huskers starting QB? Without all the injuries I say we are more talented than Iowa, with a young defense and injured riddle offense I say we aren't more talented than Iowa. We did get outcouched but we also got outplayed.
  4. Played basketball with him in middleschool and against him in highschool. He is a freak, in 7th grade he was the same height he is now maybe an inch shorter, had a six pack, and was touching rim at 5"6. His junior year he was the biggest playmaker in the state but then he tore something in his leg and didn't play Sr. year, thus preventing him from getting big time scholly offers. I remember hearing he ran an outrageous 40 time at the Husker camp and was about to get an offer but when he tore a tendon it prevented him from getting that big time scholly. He will be a bigtime playmaker at Nebraska, dude is a natural freak and a hard worker. His size will prevent him from being the featured back, but he has so much speed, explosiveness, and quickness that he will make big plays.
  5. A girl Im friends with had a lil brother who knew Robert Butler and she told me a little about him from what her brother told her. They both went to millard south and were in a class together. I guess the kid was known for being "crazy" as she put it. Her little brother said he sold acid and did drugs. I also know the person who lived with Robert Hawkins, they were cousins. He told me the Robbie had talked to him about having fantasies of homicide, but not in like a malevolent way but more of a joking manner like one would say on the internet "boom headshot" when a robber gets killed, that make sense? He had also told me that Robbie had called him earlier that day saying he was tired of this shithole place and didn't want to be around any longer. Of course he's like dude what are you talkng about but it was brief and he hung up. His mom then got a call a lil later that day from Robbie to check his room where she found the suicide note saying that he's sorry about being a disappointment but he will now be famous. He then did the massacre at Von Maur. His cousin then got a call from his mom about the notes and once he got word about the Von Maur incident he knew it was Robbie. There is no defending such terror both did but I know in the Robert Hawkins incident there were some major red flags, had serious mental health issues, lived as a ward of the state for 6 years, and on and on. It's a shame disturbed young men find this as a choice when in reality if they are having issues mental health professionals can guide them towards the right path. Didn't mean to hijack just the MS incident reminded me of Von Maur. My thoughts are with the families who lost so much.
  6. Heard his show about three of four times, I've only really heard him on Sportsnation.
  7. A step below being nominated for the heisman, Nebraska should start a Martinez for Herbie award in 2011.
  8. I was expecting a few of these since it seems to be cusomary of every thread on here that someone post that isn't straight from the horses mouth to tell the OP to shove it, dont feed the troll or stop with rumors. If you don't like a thread than don't f'ing read it, pretty simple. Another thing was everything was being talked about Miami and BO and when the most popular sports radio host(one of em) says he has a source that told him about the Kiffin hire before it happened that BO and Florida were talking behind the scenes I think huskernation would be interested. Sure it didn't happen and it maybe a rumor about them having mutual iterest but IMO it makes a lot more sense from both sides, BO and Florida, than any other job openings BO was reported to be a candidate in. The fact is that when it comes to issues that are done behind closed doors; job hirings, suspensions, exspansion, that unless said rumor harms the reputation of someone, I think it's fair to assume fans would be interested. I know Herd is a contrarion but this wasn't a Bob heard it from Bill rumor that is often posted on this forum.
  9. http://www.theherdsword.com/2010/12/13/what-stab-meant/ Last week Colin gave the acronym, S.T.A.B., as to who would get the Florida Head Coaching job. Here’s what it meant. Wednesday night Colin got a call from an excellent source that allowed him to break the Lane Kiffin to USC story and was told Nebraska Head Coach Bo Pelini was in discussions with Florida officials to be their next head coach. S.T.A.B. meant “Southern Ties, Advantage Bo” The next day Pelini’s name was all over the sports pages in regards to the Miami job. That’s when things got blown up and discussions fell apart. Colin will stand by his word that Pelini was close to getting the Florida job. I wouldn't be surprised, maybe BO was trying to work something out when it became front page news and felt pressured and took his name out.
  10. I liked the article, made me feel like I was there in person observing a husker legend make his final goodbye to Lincoln in a very unlikely manner.
  11. My gut feeling is if we were to win out we would end up in the National Championship...based on how this season has gone and looking at the schedules of the teams ahead of us.
  12. Number 7 in new BCS poll, only 1 loss team a head of us is Alabama.
  13. Was at the Oklahoma game in 2001, Memorial Stadium never felt so alive.
