  1. Maybe just a shift in some duties. I wouldn't look for anyone else to leave unless they are poached. I know RF had a few teams come at him but I think Tori is pretty happy here and it will be a tough pull away. I'd guess that RB will no longer be in charge of punt returns anymore but don't know that for sure.
  2. Heard one rumor (don't know how solid) we may have someone by weeks end. Sounds like there might still be another guy they are trying to talk too also and if that's the case I'd say it stretches out another week or 10 days past that.
  3. His somethin isn't in coaching. I really didnt expect you off all people to take the bait..... I"m not reading back all the pages to find out but didn't Cos just get hired as New Mexico (or State) DC?
  4. Yes. Bo asked the Admin to ave Moss still be here and they are not letting this happen. Seeing as Bo has a very good track record of team discipline and would like him to remain here it show how little value they have of his opinion.
  5. Sounds like somethings are getting resolved. Not 100% yet but it's sounding more like the possibility he can come back.
  6. I know he's not on the list of folks as of right now. If the first 2 folks don't pan out then its being said they'd open it up a bit.
  7. My understanding is that Bo wants someone who's had experience coaching at the D1 level for a while. That rules out a bunch of people "wishing" we'd get some of the guys mentioned above. I also have heard Sanders's name come up but that wasn't from anyone at UNL. The feeler was sent out to see if enough time had passed to let the fire die down. The answer was that "they didn't know" but they were also trying to keep TJ at the time. I think there will be some interviews at the convention coming up and maybe more movement. As TJ stated this is only partly about money. Its about finding a school where the admin is serious about trying to win a NC and helping with the resources to do so. Thats about killing rumors, contract extensions and support staff. ATM is doing all of that frequently.
  8. This ^^^ It's plus or minus a 20% raise, more than a lateral move, and with the uncertainty about Bo's job status all year he'd be dumb not to consider it. No problem with him considering or even taking it. But to basically challenge the A.D. to meet his demands publicly is bush league. If Eichorst gives in, every single assistant will consider using the same public tactic. I'd be fine if he made his concerns known to Bo and the A.D. privately. His comment was designed and words were chosen to make public. Right now the behind the scenes crap is a mess. Coaches are being hampered a bit. If we want to be a top program we need to be able to support the staff so they feel like they don't have to keep the next job at arms length. I'm glad we can find a bunch of money to hire new ADs and title office people but won't pay squat to a recruiting staff. We are way behind on personal in that department as well as resources. Part of that was TO being slower to see that had changed and part of that is current brass trying to determine our path over the next year or so.
  9. So after striking out on your first 4 choices you look to piss off 1/2 your booster and have Briles as your leader. Could get interesting in Texas.

Why would this piss off 1/2 the boosters? I thought Briles was revered in Texas. Serious question.

Many major boosters think he isn't good enough because he coaches at Baylor. Its an ego thing.

Major just took the buy out too. That tells me a whole staff is probably coming.

  10. That was a fairly isolated incident (and I was pretty young) - Bo has been doing this for 6 years now. Every year it's something, Bo wallows in the mud. Doing what for 6 years? Acting like half the coaches in the top 10? Oh... that's the difference. If Nebraska was in the top 10, most would not be complaining. I think thats fair for every coach. I bet ND will tire of BK pretty soon if he doesn't win more games. If Bama lost 5 games in a year NS comments won't be ok with their fans either.
  11. They never did announce attendance just tickets distributed. I've heard they were lucky to have 25-30,000. It looked pretty empty on TV.
  12. Except when he drinks all the gin. Then I curse his name! A guy gets drunk one time and post a picture of himself in a velvet teddy in the woodshed and I guess he's never allowed to drink Gin again.
  13. But if you think that media coverage is a significant factor in how the team plays on any given Saturday that's a more damning indictment of the coaching staff than it is of the media. I don't think I've ever stated it change the way they played. I've maintained they want Bo fired and as such the OWH has covered the team in a negative light. It makes it tough to recruit. I think it makes it tougher to focus on football as a team. I've never said it lead to 5 turnovers. I have a couple honest questions for you since you are a former journalist. Do you really believe that the amount of media "pressure" is more here than other major programs across the nation? Do you feel that maybe you place too much emphasis on the media scrutiny being that you come from that world and place a higher importance on it than the rest of the general public? I think its probably as bad other places but different. As much as the Omaha media would like to think that the Bluejays are a big deal no one really cares outside of that little area. The difference is that most of the time there is a "break" from the media. It doesn't happen here. And the reason I put heavy stock in it is because I've seen personally how it changes how people think. I've done it intentionally when I was learning, writing, reporting for newspapers, TV and radio while I was in college to get something accomplished that suited my needs for my education at the time. (I will stay vague about it. But did it at the request of a professor to prove a point and get something for the department). Hell its why PR firms are in business right now. The spin happens. As a journalist who is reporting we are taught to be the fly on the way and tell the story no matter if we agree or not. If you want to put opinion in it you become a columnist. I don't think people know or can tell the difference today.

I think it makes it tougher to focus on football as a team. I've never said it lead to 5 turnovers. And that negative light hasn't been brought on Bo by his own on and off the field record? Are they making up things that he did? I think like anyone he's done things to hurt himself. I don't think hes got a pass on it though like many others have. Look at this relationship. Tell me whats different between the media and the coach. I've heard Dirk more than once state he'd do something like this for Bo as soon as he respects him as a reporter. Well...maybe it goes the other way first. It always did in the past and apparently other places. The problem is the media around here doesn't have a lot of integrity anymore. http://www.pennlive.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/01/bill_obrien_the_outsider_arriv.html
  15. Please elaborate and provide support for your position. Conjecture and supposition isn't proof. Wow. Someone said something about the pot and kettle..... I'm not the one making wild claims here (other than the obviously tongue-in-cheek comments about Bo's plane demands). Wild claims? I don't see any wild claims. Da Skers has an excellent track record, as one of the most informed posters on here or any site for that matter. We're lucky he throws us a bone every once and ahwile and he doesn't rub it in act like he's better than us because he has connections, unlike HTO or FEW others with real inside info. Seriously can't believe he's getting this much flak for bringing info to the board. Its fine. Its all meant to bring up conversations. I will agree there is a lot more hate now days rather than people just having different opinions. This used to be Huskerboard where we talked about Husker sports (mostly football), the team, bone headed moves by coaches or players in a game, then we all ended up rooting for the team to improve. Now its becoming more like other free boards (I saw this start when Huskerpedia/HuskerMax lawsuits began flying) that I won't go to like the RRS because people want to see the huskers fail. There is another mostly private board out there and for the last 5 years they have beat to the drum that the average fan in sports is becoming dumber and dumber when it relates to expectations, reality and what s actually happening. The internet has given everyone a voice. No one wants to seem stupid so the majority repeat exactly what they are hearing in the media or on the forums they frequent. Thus they don't base a lot of the argument on what is really going on but what they think might be going on from what they think they heard (or where told from the guy before him who added his expert opinion) just like in a game of gossip. Hell I'm no different. My only advantage is that I often get to be the second person in the chain of gossip.

  17. While Bo brings a lot of that on himself, you're mostly upset about the way the various channels choose to portray him with this. He is not entirely drama-filled, that's a story line they're pushing. ESPN/ABC have a vested interest in portraying Bo this way, and they do, frequently. It's not inaccurate, it's just not the whole picture. ESPN/ABC/FOX/SI, etc. The entire national media portrays him this way. I don't care why the do it, it's just the fact that Nebraska football is seen that way that makes me feel like I've had enough of Bo. It's no longer Husker football, it's the Bo Pelini show. I'm not sure where you live, but just walk through any sports bar, or any place with fans that actually care about college football wearing Husker gear. (outside of Nebraska) I was in Vegas through the bowl games last year and had this happen frequently while watching games at Cosmo and Palazzo. Happens constantly here in KC. What are they going to want to discuss? How do they view the Huskers? It's not a convo you even want to start anymore. Here's two texts I got following the win...I get sick and tired of hearing this from every single person that is not a Husker fan (and a good portion of Husker fans). It's not going to get any better. It's what we've become. "I still dislike your coach with great passion..but glad you won" - came from K-State fan. "Well I can root for you now we aren't conference foes, but damn Bo makes it hard to cheer!" - from a Missouri fan. You know...its much easier for a person to make a stereotypical comment to someone they know is a racist because he won't be offended by the remark. I'm not saying you're one but the example proves the point.
  18. I'm shocked to learn you hate Bo and all things Nebraska football. About as shocking as you having an issue with the Nebraska administration. And "all things Nebraska football"? You might as well just call me out and say I'm not a real fan don't you think? I only have a problem with Pearlman. I think I've maintained I don't know what to think of SE yet. I liked him when I met him. I haven't like the way he's handled things but I don't know if its because of his hands being tied or not. So for now I'm going with the fact he hasn't done the job the way I think he should have. I hope its because like Bo he's new to it. I'll probably have a convo with PM at some point and know a little better. Although he's very political in his responses when speaking about his boss to people as he should. Unlike you..I'm open to having my mind changed. What's wrong with Perlman? Specifically, how is he harming the University of Nebraska (not Nebraska football or Bo Pelini, the University of Nebraska)? He's never been about what is best for Nebraska. He's always been about what is best for himself. He's very ego driven, two faced and power driven. Don't think for a minute he wasn't jealous of the fact TO was getting the credit for the B10 move. There is a reason his hire of SE was done the way it was.
  19. Riiiight. Yet you think that the problems with Nebraska football come from the media and the administration? Are you the pot or the kettle? I call kettle. I've never said the team doesn't have issues to fix. Being ex media myself I don't care for the way they covering things. I have as big an issue with that crap journalism as anything. If you don't think their coverage makes the job easier or harder then you've not be listening to any of the things DB and Sharpe have been saying.

  21. There are 4 years left. Its standard in coaching to be working on a 5 yr contract because of recruiting. Its hard to sell a family on you'll be here for the kid's entire playing days when your contract doesn't go out at least that far. That makes sense. Does an extension also equal a pay raise? I'm assuming Bo made some extra scratch reaching a New Year bowl and winning it. I'd assume his pay is already in the top 3rd of the B1G? I agree w the plane usage for recruiting, it's not like he's flying direct from Lincoln commercially. I guess I feel like this: if they don't give him an extension this year, RIGHT NOW, I wouldn't necessarily see it as a sign of non committal. But others may, including opposing coaches in recruiting. His contract calls for automatic pay bumps. He's getting a raise with or without the additional year. Bo in the past has asked in lue of money for himself raises for his staff and the private plan use to recruit. I don't think he cares as much about the money as the things his team needs to be successful. At least that was the case when he felt the AD had his back and they had a good relationship. I think that could change. The next two weeks will tell a lot.
  22. I'm shocked to learn you hate Bo and all things Nebraska football. You're probably right about the former but it's a mistake to equate that to the latter. Nebraska is more than Bo Pelini. We were here before Pelini and we'll be here after him. Its obvious thought that your hate for one is effecting your love for the other.
  23. This seems a bit of a stretch doesn't it? You don't think AA is looking at the lifespan of a RB as far as carries and basing his decision on that? Thats what his family told a friend who was at the pre-games stuff the day before we played. Wow. Lock it up, rock solid internet insider proof. Thank you, Simone... I'll stand by my folks. He's the same guy feeding Damon Benning info.
  24. The biggest thing AA needs to do is change the way he carries. I think one of the TV guys pointed that out yesterday. He often carries it too low and thats why he has a fumble issue. If he can change that he'll be one of the better backs. I agree he needs to look at his stock and if hes in the top 5 rounds go. But its not a "take care of my family' situation for him. If he feels like things are rainbows and butterflies for us next year he's back in an instant. His family wants him to finish school which he's on track to do. But having continual media back lash and not having those guys above letting the coach know he's in good standing wears on the team. Its not healthy for those kids.
