  1. The Senate is currently invoking the so-called "nuclear option" to end debate on SCOTUS nominee Neil Gorsuch. It's a sad day for American politics.

      Z- No they wouldn't have.

       

      Had they had a nomination and a simple majority, the nomination would've still been Merrick Garland. He would finally get his vote.

       

      From there, the results would depend on what the GOP minority cared about. If they wanted an exremely capable, qualified justice, they'd vote for Garland.

       

      If they wanted to politicize the Supreme Court, they'd demand someone more conservative.

      Garland was someone who had broad, consensus appeal, at least before McConnell started on his obstructionist nonsense.

       

      Gorsuch is not. His voting against that truck driver stuck in the freezing cold to side with the company SHOULD be really concerning.
