California Husker
QB - Tommie Frazier RB - Mike Rozier FB - Tom Rathman TE - Junior Miller WR - Mo Purify WB - Irving Fryer OT - Zach Weigart OT - Chris Dishman OG - Will Shields OG - Dean Steinkhuler C - Dave Rimmington DT - Christian Peter NT - John Parrella RE - Grant Wistrom RE - Mike Rucker OLB - Terell Farley OLB - Eric Johnson MLB - Barret Rude S - Mike Mintor S - Mike Brown CB - Tyronne Williams CB - Ralph Brown Punter - Darin Erstad Kicker - Kris Brown Kick Returns – Johnny Rogers Punt Returns – Bobby Newcomb I have seen some of the teams listed since I posted my favs, and I realize this is very subjective, but thought I would explain leaving off players like Trev (who just may be one of my favorite two or three Huskers of all time) and Johnny the Jet, and Johnny Mitchell. I thought the 94-97 defense was the best we ever had, and although Trev did play in that style of defense his last few years as McBride was making the switch from 3-4 to 4-3, he was still basically a converted linebacker. I feel that Wistrom and Rucker fit the system better. I know Trev won the Butkis award at D-end but I stick by my choice of Wistrom and Rucker. I agree that Mitchell was a very good tight end, but he did leave early, and I sort of resent him for that (I am still a little angry with Ahman Green, Dominic Raiola, and a host of others for the same reason, but I am getting over it). But junior Miller was an absolute stud at tight end, and I still believe he was the best we ever had. Now, if I had my wish we would still run the option and in that case I would want bigger receivers to help with the blocking downfield. I know Purify has no experience in that area, but he is a big guy and I think he could handle it. I have added Johnny Rogers as a kick return specialist since I didn’t include that on my original list (also added Bobby Newcomb). And I picked Darin Erstad as my punter simply because of the way he leveled that catcher. Any punter who can hit like that shouldn’t even have to warm up with the kickers. Quote Link to comment
BRS
One omission that stands out to me. How the hell did nobody put Rich Glover at NT? He is probably the gretest defensive lineman this University has ever seen. Quote Link to comment

What a great problem to have though. So many great players to choose from! Quote Link to comment
