Eric the Red
http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/6433250...3162&ATT=24 Wake QB transferring for academic reasons Story Tools: Print Email Blog This Associated Press Posted: 4 days ago WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Former starting Wake Forest quarterback Ben Mauk said Thursday he is transferring for academic reasons. Mauk will remain enrolled at Wake Forest until his graduation this spring. In the fall he will enroll at a school that offers a master's degree in advanced education administration. Wake Forest does not offer that degree. Mauk began last season as the Demon Deacons' starter, but suffered a season-ending injury in the third quarter of the opener against Syracuse. He dove to recover a fumble but dislocated his right shoulder and broke his right arm on what coach Jim Grobe said was the most courageous play he'd ever seen by a quarterback. Mauk spent the rest of the season rehabilitating and mentoring redshirt freshman Riley Skinner. Skinner became the Atlantic Coast Conference's rookie of the year, leading the Demon Deacons to their first league championship in 36 years, an 11-3 record, a berth in the Orange Bowl and a final No. 18 ranking. In the days leading up to the bowl game against Louisville, Mauk said he hoped to be 90 percent healthy in March, 100 percent by April and looked forward to competing with Skinner for the starting job. Mauk started 10 of the 18 games he played for Wake Forest from 2004-06, completing 54 percent of his passes for 1,522 yards and four touchdowns. His first pass as a freshman was an 85-yard touchdown that tied the school record for longest scoring pass. Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
If he has any eligibility left, he could play right away next year for any team in the nation. I don't think Nebraska should go after him, but some team might take a look at him since he would not have to sit out a year. Quote Link to comment

HANC
I think as well as Skinner played all year, it isn't a huge loss for them...depth wise, yes, but Skinner led this team to the season they had...Because of injury, this guy didn't do anything. Quote Link to comment

hastingshusker
This is obviously going to be the first hurdle next season. Hopefully losing players gives us a glimmer of hope. However, today will be a HUGE day for Nebraska Football. Good luck to the QB though. Its refreshing to see someone take academics so seriously. Quote Link to comment
