*** Official NU vs. KSU PRE-Game Thread ***

The key to this game is going to be bringing the good things we did on offense last week into Manhattan and continue improving and working towards a consistent offensive attack. I think we need to spread the ball around like we did this week to the different receivers and different backs. That seemed to work well and we hadn't really done that this year. Is Dailey seeing the field a bit better, finally?

As always, NO TURNOVERS and NO PENALTIES!!!! OK, how about we just limit the penalties. They killed a couple of our drives yesterday.

The defense has to come back to full strength in order to stop Sproles and totally muff the Snyders offensive attack. I am not so afraid of the KSU passing attack though. Especially if their starter ends up not playing.

Whatever Fabian's problem is, he needs to figure it out. He seemed to be out of position a lot yesterday along with some of the linebackers. Ruud seems to be doing most of the work back there.

Anyone else have some input?

GBR!!!

I agree, their passing game does not scare me. We will not know what the status of Meier is because Snyder does not release that information to the public. He never has and never will. I think that if Washington can figure out what he is doing then we can commit 7-8 guys to stopping the run. We need to be able to limit the big plays that K-State gets. I know that they will get them because they always do. Like I always say, if we do the little things right (turnovers, penalties, ball control) then we have a great opportunity to win this game.

Looking over the K-state passing stats, their backup QB has only thrown the ball 28 times, completed 11 with 2 INT's. 104 yards total.

Meiers stats are much more impressive. 60% completion rate (128 attempts) and just over 1000 yards passing. 3 INT's. Seems like he likes to throw to Yamon Figurs a lot. He has most of the receiving yards. Who do we put on him? Fabian? McPherson? He is listed as 6 foot even, so our CB's don't have a huge height disadvantage like they do with some other wideouts in the Big 12. Weight is about the same.

Edit: I guess I am assuming we will be running man defense, which may not be the case. Either way I think our CB's and safteys can contain these guys. If they get their heads out of their collective asses. After all, that's where they seemed to be located in the 3rd quarter yesterday.

Once Meier went out of the game, K-State was done. Oklahoma held Sproles under 50 yards and it killed K-State. Remember one of the pussycats touchdowns was from an int returned for a touchdown. I know that we do not have the defense that Oklahoma does but I think that we can use the same game plan and if we do not turn the ball over we can win this game.

Think if their intercepting the Heisman winner for td's what they will do to us. I think they win by around 2 td's.

Big deal. Every good QB has thrown their share of interceptions.

Like stated in my last post, if we do not turn the ball over we will when this game. If we do turn the ball over however, we will have a dog fight on our hands. I have said the same thing for every game this season. If we control the ball, do not turn the ball over, and limit the penalties then we have the opportunity to win the game. If we do those three things, then we will win this football game.

lol, I think anyone could say that about any team. Those are pretty much the big key in college football with the scholarship rules.

How do scholarship rules affect turnovers and penalties in a game?

But I do agree, those are big keys to any games if you wanna be in a position to win.

Them are the big keys in who wins a game because the talent on team is very similiar because of the scholarship rules. Alot of teams can beat better teams by doing them things because the talent isn't that much different compared to 20 years ago.

I'd have to agree too, not only because of the direct effect they have, but the way they can affect the morale of the team. It seems that has a larger effect on NU then it does on some other teams (not just college)

I hate to say this, but I think we're gonna lose...

Sproles is going to run all over us...

We're going to get pounded by a team that runs the ball...

How's that for irony???

I would have to disagree. I know that our defense has not faced a running back with the talent of Sproles yet this year, but it is a lot easier to make a game plan for a one-man team like K-State than it is for a team like Tech. If we can gang tackle on Saturday then I say that Sproles gets worn down and will cough up the ball a couple of times which will lead to Huskers points and the "W"
