Not all Jayhawks are savoring your misery.

(disclaimer: i'm a life-long KU fan, graduate and benchwarmer for some of our worst football teams in the late 80s.)

I've read a lot of comments on this board in the last few minutes about the lack of respect shown toward Husker fans by KU fans in attendance on Saturday. I wasn't there Saturday, I live in Florida now, so I can't comment on what did or didn't happen. But all I can say is that it truly is a shame if any Nebraska fans were indeed treated poorly in Lawrence on Saturday.

I can honestly say that, by and large, I've always found Nebraska fans to be an extremely proud but extremely classy group. I vividly remember NU fans actually applauding and encouraging KU players on the way to the locker room in Lincoln during a couple drubbings at the hands of the Huskers. Those moments to me represent what sportsmanship is truly about, and I wish that behavior was more prevalent in college sports today in general.

Anyhoo, the point is I hope NU fans at large will not hold the entirety of Kansas fans responsible for the actions of a few. I think even the most ardent Husker fan would probably admit there's good and bad in every group of fans.

I'm not eager to see Nebraska rattle off another 30 or 40 wins in a row over us again, but I do wholeheartedly hope your program is able to turn things around and return to prominence. I'd love nothing more than for KU-NU to become one of the country's best football rivalries. And if that happens, I would hope each school's respective fans could bring out the best in the other, as opposed to the worst.

Best of luck for the rest of the year and beyond.

Go Jayhawks.
