I heard a rumor but i could be wrong. Frank was fired because Pederson did not like him. They had a beef back the first time Pederson worked at NU in an assistants position. As for the extracurricular stuff, more has come out since he went to Illinois(?). And this is one reason why he would probably not be re-hired. I suspect that TO was getting others impressions of Pelini if the conversation happened after Callahan was fired. Quote Link to comment

Though, he should have been given another year just to prove pedersons point - i think the reason was that we weren't going to win a NC with him. Quote Link to comment

Frank just wasn't the guy but i always wondered why Gill didn't get to coach the bowl game after Frank was fired?? He was the Assistant head coach after all! Quote Link to comment
